Looking for Jesus according to Matthew

- I can only say YES!
- I will add one word: RELIGION IS CORRUPTION!

Which religion of who?

The religion of lying signs and wonder as if true prophecy?

The Holy Father In James puts his stamp of approval on his own religious belief system Believers were without our heavenly Father as widows not married to Christ.

James 1:27;Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

The religion of the special care of the household of faith (the non-visible eternal things of God .

Eohsians 2:19;Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Galatians 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Jesus vs religion

Religion is believing in God, attending religious services, taking catechism, being baptized, and receiving communion. Religion is tradition, ritual, ceremony, and learning the difference between right and wrong.

Religion is reading and memorizing Scripture, offering prayers, giving to the poor, and celebrating religious holy days. Religion is singing in the choir, helping the poor, and making amends for past wrongs.

Religion is something that was practiced by the Pharisees, those Scripture-loving, conservative, separatist, spiritual leaders who hated Christ enough to call for His death.

They hated Him not only because He broke their traditions in order to help people (Matthew 15:1-9 ) but because He saw through their religion to their hearts.

Religion doesn't change hearts

Jesus likened the religious Pharisees to a group of dishwashers who clean the outside of a cup while leaving the inside dirty.

He said, "Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness. Foolish ones! Did not He who made the outside make the inside also?" (Luke 11:39-40). Jesus knew that a person can change his image without changing his act ( Matthew 23:1-3).

He knew that religious credentials and ceremony cannot change the heart. He told one of the most religious men of His day that unless a person is "born again" by the Spirit, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3).

Yet from that day until now, many of the most religious people in the world continue to forget that while religion can give attention to outward appearance, only Christ can change the heart.

Religion makes much of little

Jesus spoke to religionists who had a passion for detail when He said, "Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue, and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone" ( Luke 11:42).

Jesus saw our tendency to make rules and to focus on "morally correct" behavior instead of keeping our eyes on the bigger issue of why we are trying to be so right. While the Pharisees were big on knowledge carried out to its logical conclusions, they forgot that God doesn't care how much we know until He knows how much we care.

It was this greater "why" that the apostle Paul had in mind when he wrote, "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. . . . If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing" ( 1 Corinthians 13:1,3).

Religion offers the approval of men rather than God

Jesus reserved His strongest criticism for religious people who used their spiritual reputation to get social attention and honors.

To such religionists Jesus said, "Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces" ( Luke 11:43).

Then, speaking to His disciples, He said of the Pharisees, "All their works they do to be seen by men" ( Matthew 23:5).

Jesus saw clearly into the practice of religion, which holds the opinions and attention of man to be more important and desirable than the approval of God.

Religion makes hypocrites of us

Jesus said, "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like graves which are not seen, and the men who walk over them are not aware of them" ( Luke 11:44).

What looks better than being dressed right, attending religious services, and doing things that mark us as decent, God-fearing people?

Yet how many religious scholars, ministers, and faithful followers withhold honor and encouragement from their wives, attention from their children, and love from their doctrinal enemies?

Jesus knew what we often forget: What looks good may have a heart of evil.

Religion makes a hard life harder

Because religion cannot change a heart, it tries to control people with laws and expectations that are not even kept by the religionists who interpret and apply the rules.

With this "burden factor" in mind, Jesus said, "Woe to you also, lawyers [experts in religious law]! For you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers" (Luke 11:46).

Religion is good at describing high standards of right behavior and relationships, but poor at giving real and merciful help to those who realize they have not lived up to those expectations.

Religion makes it easy to deceive ourselves

It's been jokingly said, "I love humanity. It's people I can't stand." The Pharisees acted out a similar idea, but it wasn't funny.

According to Jesus, the Pharisees prided themselves in honoring and building memorials to the prophets.

The irony is that when they met a real prophet they wanted to kill Him.

"The only prophets they admired were dead prophets; when they met a living one, they tried to kill Him.

They honored the dead prophets with tombs and memorials, but they dishonored the living ones with persecution and death."

This is the point Jesus made in Luke 11:47-51 and in a parallel passage in Matthew 23:29-32.

The Pharisees had fooled themselves. They didn't think of themselves as prophet-killers. Religionists don't see themselves as the God-rejecting people they are.

Religion hides the key of knowledge

One of the greatest dangers of religion is that it causes us to be a danger not only to ourselves but also to others.

To the very religious biblical experts of His day Jesus said, "Woe to you lawyers!

For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered" ( Luke 11:52).

Religionists take away "the key of knowledge" by distracting people from the Word of God and from a "right attention of heart"

by the unnecessary additions of denominationally correct traditions and expectations.

Rather than leading people to God, religionists shift the focus to themselves and their own rules.

Religionists are those who trust the beliefs and actions of their religion to do what only Christ can do.

Religion leads its converts astray

In Matthew 23:15 Jesus said, "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves."

Converts of religion are in double jeopardy. They bring a double enthusiasm to their new way of life, and with zeal they blindly defend their blind teachers.

They put themselves in the trust of people who have exchanged a system of rules and traditions for the life, forgiveness, and relationship of an infinite Savior.

Religion is important in its place (James 1:26-27), but only when it points us to the Christ who died for our sins and who now offers to live His life through those who trust Him (Galatians 2:20; Titus 3:5).

Jesus Christ is someone to know and trust

Jesus Christ is more than a system, tradition, or belief.

He is a Person who knows our needs, feels our pain, and sympathizes with our weakness. In exchange for our trust, He offers to forgive our sins, to intercede for us, and to bring us to His Father. He cried for us, died for us, and rose from the dead to show that He was all He claimed to be.

Conquering death, He showed us that He can save us from our sins, live His life through us on earth, and then bring us safely to heaven. He offers Himself as a gift to anyone who will repent and believe the gospel.
May God's love and wisdom fill us.

You are a bit confused as it is not religon that causes any of what you have stated. It is one personal views that cause conflicts.

Nicodemus who is a member of the Pharisees, quoted scripture saying, love God with all your heart. He was clearly not against Jesus as a number of others were not either.

And you must remember that the teachings of the Pharisees were also what the Jewish people followed from the time of Moses, and how many of those people were so highly favored with God.

Remember that Mary the mother of Jesus, Joseph her husband, Elizabeth her cousin all came before the teachings of Jesus. And yet the Angel stated to Mary - Highly Favored.

Based on what you had said earlier, if the religion was so terrible how in the world would Mary be so Highly Favored, I mean how could she be that if religion is so evil.

Religion is the understanding and teaching of particular groups. Christianity is the name of our religion. But there are many religions in the world. And there are many sub groups within Christianity.

The bible the scripture is not evil. There are 2 things that can bring it to become evil. Falsely teaching it and how we perceive and practice it.

One example: the Klu Klux Klan who felt that they were a religious organization following the will of God. They were violently against anyone who opposed them, and of course All Blacks were of the devil.

Another example: homosexuality, teaching this as being allowed or accepted by God - the teachers are misleading the people, and the people are now poisoned to believe this.
See the Book of Romans.

No such thing as no religion.

Religion a set of personal beliefs.

Atheism is a religion they teach "there is no God' God called them fools according to His religion as it is written (sola scriptura)

Rember Satan the father according to his religion has no spiritual gospel understnding of the religion of our Holy Father.

When it comes to religious spiritual matters it's all one big guessing game to him .If you are the Son of God If, if, if, the iffy god

- According to the Bible, the majority of mankind was destroyed except Noah and his family!

- According to the Bible, only two Hebrews got into the promised land, the rest died in the desert!

- According to the Bible, Jerusalem was destroyed twice and many died or became slaves or were sent into exile!

- Think about Revelation 13:16,17:
The Mark of the Beast

16And the second beast required all people small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead,17so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark—the name of the beast or the number of its name.

- Think about revelation 19:1,2:

1After this I heard a sound like the roar of a great multitude in heaven, shouting:

“Hallelujah!a

Salvation and glory and power belong to our God!

2For His judgments are true and just.

He has judged the great prostitute

who corrupted the earth with her immorality.

- We are told about the earth!

- Think about the 1,000 years!

- Revelation 20:7:

7When the thousand years are complete, Satan will be released from his prison,8and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—to assemble them for battle. Their number is like the sand of the seashore.

- We are told about people who are like the sand of the seashore!

- Now when you look at the history of religion, what do we learn?

- We look at the flood and the survival of Noah and his family!

- Then what is next? (Genesis chapter 10:6-12)

- We get the son of Noah, Ham!

- One of his sons was Cush!

- One of Cush's sons was Nimrod!

- Only two generations after the flood and here is Nimrod!

- And Nimrod built many cities and in particular Babel, Accad and Niniveh!

- It was the beginning of human civilization!

- And they developed religion, astrology and astronomy!

- Each city has its own god!

- Everything was organized around religion!

- And in fact it was the same structure as before the flood, religion made by demons who wanted to control men according to their own will!

- Then each civilization took the beliefs of the preceding civilization and adapted them till today!

- The Hebrews were warned by Yah.weh but they didn't listen!

- They mixed their religion with other religions!

- They were destroyed!

- Human history is just a mere repetition!

Interestingly Hebrew literally meaning from the other side. of the coin . the hidden pilgrims' strangers

Two Hebrews promised in what way? According to the dying flesh? Or the spiritual seed Christ. The second born seed?

It would seem to establish the loving law a dying mankind must be born again, founded in Genesis.

God promising a way back into fellowship through a man. In anxiety Adam and Eve named there first-born Cain meaning "acquired possession" seeing the vanity and it required faith they named the second born Abel meaning "vanity" they were seeing the vanity of trusting in the ternporal dying things seen .Cain murdering the first apostle Abel

Again, to represent mankind must be born again he used another second born Enos to establish the gospel empowered by it then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.

Geneisi4;25=26;And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.;And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then (not before) began men to call upon the name of the Lord.

In that way if not born again there can be no communication with God

The seed was passed on to Noah it became an acquired possession at the birth of the Son of man, Jesus . . .Christ's firstborn

That was a misprint " what i said was there are a number of religions in the WORLD, and Satanism is considered a religion."

You forgot about Revelations 11. I never did understand that they're more inclined to talk about the craziness of the Beast, and the mark of the beast. But there are other things that are left out that are very important.

One thing is the great sign from God, the breaking of the Six Seal ( run and hide for the Great Day of the Lord is here ) God will reveal himself to the world. Not the second coming of Jesus. But every man woman and child will know who God is.

The city of Eridu 1)

Eridu (present day Abu Shahrein, Iraq) was considered the first city in the world by the ancient Sumerians and is among the most ancient of the ruins from Mesopotamia. Founded in c. 5400 BCE, Eridu was thought to have been created by the gods who established order upon the earth with Eridu as the starting point.

- Founded in c. 5400 BCE!

- Eridu was thought to have been created by the gods!

- It is connected with the book of Genesis!

- But according to the book of Genesis, some of the sons of God went down to the earth and took as many wives as they wanted!

- They became demons and took the control of men!

The city of Eridu 2)

The city was home to the great god Enki (also known as Ea by the Akkadians) who would develop from a local god of fresh water into the god of wisdom and magic (among other attributes) and stand with other deities such as Anu, Enlil, and Inanna as the most important in the Mesopotamian Pantheon. As Enki's home, it became associated with many of the most vital myths of Mesopotamia including those concerning an early paradise-on-earth.

- Each city was connected to one or more gods!

- Here we are told about Enki, Anu, Enlil and Inanna!

- We are told about the myth of an early paradise-on-earth!

The city of Eridu 3)

The Sumerian King List cites Eridu as the “city of the first kings”, stating, “After the kingship descended from heaven, the kingship was in Eridu” and the city was looked back upon by the various city-states of Mesopotamia as a metropolis of a 'golden age' in the same way the writers of the biblical narrative of Genesis created a 'Garden of Eden' as their mythical paradise, most likely modeled on Eridu. The city was abandoned in c. 600 BCE, probably due to overuse of the land, and fell into ruin.

- We are told about the kingship who descended from heaven!

- Thus again the sons of God who became demons!

- And they became kings above men!

The city of Eridu 4)

The First City

The city of Eridu features prominently in Sumerian mythology, not only as the first city but also as the home of the gods.
The city of Eridu features prominently in Sumerian mythology, not only as the first city and home of the gods, but as the locale to which the goddess Innana traveled in order to receive the gifts of civilization which she then bestowed upon humanity from her home city of Uruk. Uruk vies with Eridu among modern scholars for the honor of the oldest city in Mesopotamia or even the oldest in the world.

The ancients certainly believed Eridu to be the first city and the Sumerian King List gives impossibly long reigns (some between 28,000-36,000 years) for their kings while Sumerian scribes maintained that kingship in the land first came from heaven to be established at Eridu. Scholar Stephen Bertman writes:

Tradition made it the earliest city to have a king before the days of the mythical Great Flood. Eridu's archaeological story can be traced back to at least the sixth millennium BCE. If the tradition of its antiquity is true, Eridu may well have been the first city on earth. (19)

- Home of the gods (or demons according to the Bible)!

- The gifts of civilization!

- Men became their slaves!

- They took control of them!

- They brought more violence to the earth!

- They brought destruction and the flood!

- What a gift!

- Of course, men have their responsibilities in the destruction and the flood!

- We will get a general repetition at Armageddon!

- And those who will survive will see another general repetition after the 1,000 years!

- Apparently, men are only good for that!

- They look definitely irresponsible!

- They are only animals!

- Superior animals, seriously?

- Apparently, the city existed before the flood!

The city of Eridu 5)

If not the first, the city was among the oldest. The ancient Mesopotamians frequently built their cities ontop of the ruins of older settlements (as is also true of other cultures). Excavations at Eridu have revealed a sequence of construction dating back to the Ubaid Period (c. 5000-4100 BCE) and continuing on from there to reach its height during the Ur III Period (2047-1750 BCE) under rulers such as Ur-Nammu (r. 2047-2030 BCE) and Shulgi of Ur (r. 2029-1982 BCE) both of whom encouraged trade from the city, both long-distance and local. Glass from Eridu has been found in the ruins of the cities of Egypt.

At the same time, however, the city was never a powerful political site. Scholar Gwendolyn Leick notes how "Eridu was never the seat of a dynasty. Its importance was religious rather than political, as the site of the main sanctuary of Enki" (62). Enki, the god of wisdom, featured prominently in many Mesopotamian texts and especially in the tale of the Great Flood as told in the Atrahasis and the Eridu Genesis.

- The city was never a powerful political site!

- Its importance was religious rather than political!

The city of Eridu 6)

Enki and Eridu

Eridu, as noted, was the home of Enki and the center of his cult. Bertman comments on the ruins of Enki's temple:

The god's temple has been found and shows that it was rebuilt over the course of thousands of years. In its earliest phase (dating back to about 5500 BCE), it measured about 12 by 15 feet, was made of mud brick, and featured a simple podium or altar for sacrifices and a niche meant to hold a statue of the god. To judge by evidence found in a later niche - fish bones and ashes scattered on the floor around the altar - the god's favorite meal was freshwater fish. The temple's antiquity makes it the oldest in Mesopotamian architectural and religious history. (20)

- Home of Enki and the center of his cult!

- There was a temple!

- There was an altar for sacrifices and a niche meant to hold a statue of the god!

- Right at the beginning, statues were the basis for the cult of demons!

- So different from Yah.weh’s cult!

- The Hebrews copied the cult of demons by doing the same!

- Most religions have followed such corruption!

- Sacrifices remind us of Abel and Cain’s sacrifices in the book of Genesis!

All earthy inspiration since the flood. . the devil

2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Hi Thanks

Just one obscure word Nephilim is needed

Sons of God are those led by the Spirit of Christ always born-again believer. Never referred to as demons what are called fallen angels. Some sort of imaginary invisible creation that can change shape from invisible to visible. Like a Twighlight Zone

Hebrew Nephilim used 9 times in the Bible one of the few words not translated into English. Making the understanding obscure. Nephilim "the famous ones" or men of renown.

The Hollywood version. Goliath the renown giant of popularity from the enemy camp tried to make prophecy of Christ without effect. David the superstar the renowned empowered by the Holy Father with one little GPS guided stone made the enemies superstar fall flat on his renowned face

Numbers 16:2 And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:

Isaiah 14:20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.

Some change the meaning of the words to take away the spiritual value hid in parables. violating the loving warning not to add new meaning (Deuteronomy 4:2) it can rake away the understnding of the one author

Like the Greek obscure word sabbath simply meaning "rest" a non-time sensitive word that some have made sensitive to time (7) as built it yourself gospel of self-righteousness. Or the obscure Greek apostles simply messenger (UPS, Fed X, Pony Express, Amazon etc )And therefore sent messenger apostle like that of Abel the first martyr

Angelos messengers. Apostles sent messenger (angelos) Not infallible holy ones

No invisible creation > no "let there be" and nothing changes nothing

Angel fake word coined in the 10-century needed to make the patron saints angels messengers male and female gods in the likeness of dying mankind. Hollywood show time .
