I guess what this person is saying is, it doesn't matter, who you are, what race you are, or what religion you are because it all leads us to the same place, as long as we all believe is something. (That is just MY take on the comment) My backround itself, is muslim, however just because that is my culture doesn't make me believe in it, I believe in God, not in Allah (who muslims believe is their God).

It's a case of time perception. Muslims are taught that the Crusades happened 'yesterday' metaphorically. Christians have forgiveness as a moral guide; taught by Jesus Christ.
We don't remember Muslim incursions into the South of England in the 16t century in the same way. Two wrongs don't make a right.
Love your neighbour has only been said by Jesus Christ. Wouldn't the world be different if we ALL lived by this.

You say that Jesus told his disciples that the "spirit of truth" will come and he will deliver the message of God to the people.. he won't speak of himself, but whatever the Lord tells him to say. So if Jesus said this, he's not referring to himself in the third person, so who is the spirit of truth? Is it the Holy Ghost? and is the Holy Ghost the 1/3 of God who's wandering around on Earth while the other 2/3 are in Heaven?

The Holy Ghost is God, not 1/3 of God, as is the Father and Jesus Christ. Don't try to apply linear mathematics to a dimensionless God.

Threats

There are over a billion Muslims in the world. If Islam did indeed encourage terrorism, then on 9/11 there wouldn't have been four planes hijacked, there would have been at least 100 planes hijacked. Compared to the number of Muslims in the world, the number of terrorists is nothing.

Another thing you might want to consider is that the Middle East is having some political problems. This is one of the main reasons for terrorism, not religion. In Ireland (where I'm currently living), the IRA claim they are fighting for Catholics. But it's no longer a sectarian war, it has become a political one.

I can find Christians who have done terrible things and tell you Christianity encouraged it, but that would be stupid because it's not true.

Another thing is that you seem to think of the modern state of Israel as the same tribe of Israel mentioned in the Bible. I'm afraid it's not the same. Today's Israelis aren't all Jewish. There are many atheists among them or Buddhists or whatever else. Of course that doesn't give anyone the right to kill them. But the war going on is one about a homeland and human rights. It's against a government that's secularist. It's no Israel of the past.

And Islam does not support the killing of civilians. The people who do this are violating Islamic Law and are criminals. Please get your facts straight before making accusations. I'm not here to correct misconceptions about Islam. I'm here to read about Christianity.

I'm new here, and a Muslim. I'm interested in knowing about many religions though, and especially monotheistic ones.

I've done some reading of the Bible and of books such as those of C.S. Lewis, but I think the best way to learn is to talk to a Christian.

I recently set up my own forums for discussion about different cultures in the world and there is a religion section. I don't know if it's allowed to post links to other forums here, so I won't post the link unless a moderator says I can, or if someone is interested by PM.

I'm looking for a knowledgable Christian to join and answer some questions from people of a mix of religions, and also debate.

I'll be sure to read up on the threads here as well to improve my own knowledge.

To answer some of your questions, I'd say no, I'm not a follower or supporter of Bin Laden, and I don't believe in his interpretations of Islamic Law.

When I speak in English, I call God "God" because that's the English name for Him. When I speak in Arabic, I call Him, "Allah" because that's the Arabic name. If I speak in French, I believe I would be calling Him "Dieu" (sorry for any spelling mistake.. I don't speak French). This means that Christians who speak Arabic as their first language (and there are plenty of them), would also call their god "Allah". I don't believe He is a different god, I believe He is the same god for everyone, and He is called The God (which is basically what the translation of Allah means).

You are right in saying that Muslims acknowledge the existence of Jesus. But we not only acknowledge his existence, we believe he is the promised Messiah. But as you pointed out, we do not believe he is a son of God, plus we believe Mohammed was a prophet, and naturally, you don't believe that. Muslims also believe that the Torah, Psalms and Gospel were true revelations from God by way of His prophets, but we believe they have been corrupted by scholars.

Islam shares with Christianity its belief in the afterlife, and in the signs of the end of times, and in the appearance of the anti-Christ and the return of the Messiah. There are many things in common between the two religions, however, I find that many Western Christians portray Islam as an "oriental" religion that is closer to Hinduism and paganism than it is to monotheistic faiths, and they point out that "Allah" is a pagan god.

These are false notions about Islam. I dislike the spread of false notions, which is why I would like to take the time in reading about Christianity to amend any false notions I might have of the religion.

Hello Lollipop 2000, you say the muslims believe that the bible was corrupted by scholars. The gospel of mathew, mark, luke,john are eye witness accounts and not written by scholars. I have been told by my muslim brothers the holy koran is complete as it contain the Torah, Psalms and the Gospel. When I read the Koran and find prophets missing, most of pslams missing and all that jesus did as a savior of the world is missing in your book, can I who has read the bible agree with my muslim brothers that we share the same belief/faith. Not at all. Muslims believe Christ is the word of God "Killimat Allah", born of the spirit (Ruuh Allah) and yet you do not follow Christ. You believe in the day of resurrection but you don't believe that Christ resurrected from the dead. Christ is seated on the right hand of the Father and he is the only way John 14:6. If you are traveller and you are on your for final destination (Haven) will you follow a person who would say I have not been there or would you follow a person who has been there. Jesus is the only way read gospel of John chaper 14: 1-14.

Is not religion, just religion. It is but a word. Is not our sin's of our own doing. Is not the face and name we worship , the one we choose. It is not the color of our skin, or domination we choose that will lead us to our father, but the mindset we have to obey the one we pray to. Why have so many come to be mislead?

Are you saying it dosn't matter who or how we worship. Of course it does. Only The Lord Jesus Christ is deserving of worship. He is God!!!

It is very unfortunate how so called "Christians" can so quickly turn people away from the faith... and that very scenario is played out right here before my eyes. Unbelievable; it makes my stomach sick. That's why I hate religion! <-- (guess who's the Antichrist?) Lollipop, I do pray that you will still come to this forum, and don't let mere humans turn away your curiosity. Obviously not everyone here welcomes outsiders, but I certainly do... and even if its just you and me that are friends on here, I will do my best to answer your questions and teach you about my faith (I'm new at this "God thing" myself so we can learn together!).

Its not my place to judge others, but I really do think that many "Christians" need to re-evaluate the way they treat people that are different.
