Jesus worked so that our work can make a difference. Without His sacrifice, our faith and our work would be for nothing. Give God the glory!

Jesus referred to himself in many different ways, such as “the bread of life”, “the true vine”, “the Son of
man who lays down his life
.”, “the good shepherd”, and also as “ The sower” (Matt 13:37)

Jesus told his disciples that if they did not understand the parable of the sower, then they will not
understand any parable. The parable of the sower is the grand daddy of all parables!!! If we do not grasp this parables meaning then the parable of "Jesus being the vine" will be interpreted in error.

Mar 4:13 And he said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? How then will you
understand all the parables?

This parable was so important for his followers to understand that Jesus did not let them try, and
figure it out on their own, so he explains it to them clearly.

Jesus referred to the Word of God as a “seed” which must be planted into the soil. Seeds do not
produce fruit out of the soil except after a certain time elapses. Fruit is what determines if a person is
saved or not. The very first fruit the Word of God produces in a person's life is the “new birth”

1Pe 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Mat 13:18 "Hear then the parable of the sower:
Mat 13:19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path. (ESV)

(This first person hears the Word of God, and immediately the evil ones steals the
Word out of their heart. They never get saved, and never produce fruit unto salvation.)

Mat 13:20 As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy,
Mat 13:21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. (ESV)

(This second person hears the Word, receives it with joy, but has no root in himself,
and later falls away. With out roots fruit can never be produced unto salvation. This
can be used to describe a person who abides in the vine for awhile, but never produces
fruit, so he is cut off from the vine.)

Mat 13:22 As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. (ESV)

(This third person is the scariest of them all. He hears the Word of God, but the cares of
this world prevent it from producing fruit unto salvation. Church's are filled to
capacity with these kinds people. They received the Word, but never get saved, but
they think they are!!! Notice: they never fall away, but never get saved either. They are
cut off from the vine because they never produce fruit. Have ever spotted these kinds of
people in your Church? There is no joy or peace in their lives, and they look and act
just like the world!!)

Mat 13:23 As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty." (ESV)

(The last and final kind of person is the one who hears the Word of God, understands it
and produces fruit unto salvation. He remains in the vine, and produces much fruit.
These people are easy to spot within any Church.)

These four kinds of people that Jesus is describing here are typical to those found in every Church.
There is no such a thing as a Christian bearing good fruit, and than all of a sudden producing no or bad
fruit, which is impossible!!

Mat 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Mat 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Mat 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

If a good tree can NEVER produce bad fruit as Jesus said, then a tree that produces bad fruit, never
did produce good fruit!!!

True enough, but there are certain denominations/cults that (no matter what name they called by) certainly aren't a part of the body of Christ.
Still I agree with you in part. No denomination has a monopoly on the truth. I think many people people from many denominations will make it.
Not because they are part of a specific denomination, but rather in spite of it.

I think that is a fair statement thank you for sharing. My "contention " is if it an obstacle/ idol in our walk we need to get rid of it :) I have seen cases where the denomination was the idol:(

Waggles do you believe that we earn our salvation by doing something??

There is a before and after. The only thing we can do to initially get saved.. is believe.
However after we are saved, there are quite a few things we have to do in order to remain saved.

James 2:14; What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him?
James 2:19; You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder.
James 2:20; But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless?
James 2:24; You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.

Matt 19:16; And someone came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?
Matt 19:17; And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
Matt 19:18; Then he *said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness;
Matt 19:19; Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

2 Pet 2:20; For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.

There are people who have "escaped" the defilements of the world... (did they do this without Jesus?).. but go right back to being entagled
in those things.

2 Pet 2:21; For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them.
2 Pet 2:22; It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”

Unfortunately there are ex-Christians who are dogs and sows now.

Heb 10:26; For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
Heb 10:27; but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries.
Heb 10:28; Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
Heb 10:29; How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

There are those who have been "sanctified by the blood of the covenant", and then rejected it later.

Luke 8:13; Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away.

There are people... who "believe for a while" and then later fall away. You can't fall away from a place you've never been.

1 Tim 4:1; But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,

All of these scriptures you posted here are answered as why this happens in the parable of the sower.

Nothing we can do to earn our salvation we are not worthy, that is why its a gift

Matt 25:6; But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’
Matt 25:7; Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps.
Matt 25:8; The foolish said to the prudent, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
Matt 25:9; But the prudent answered, ‘No, there will not be enough for us and you too; go instead to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.’
Matt 25:10; And while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast; and the door was shut.
Matt 25:11; Later the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open up for us.’

Apparently it's possible to "run out of oil". There are numerous debates about what the oil is. (Usually the Holy Spirit) but whatever it
is, it's required to get to heaven. Apparently it's possible to have it, and then run out of it.

perhaps I should of used the correct word that is used in scripture we are saved through grace

Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV / 584 helpful votes
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast

Romans 11:6 ESV / 345 helpful votes
But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

As a matter fact we do not even come to Christ he draws us, it has nothing to do with us

Exactly. Including the one about "believing for a while".
Exactly!!! Many people believe, even the devils believe, but that does not make a person a child of God until they exercise their faith and become one.!!!

If a good tree can NEVER produce bad fruit as Jesus said, then a tree that produces bad fruit, never
did produce good fruit!!!

Even so. there are trees that produce bad fruit. ( Matt 7:17-18; Matt 12:33; )
and even trees that produce no fruit at all (which is just as bad as bad fruit) Luke 13:6;
There are even trees in the masters garden, that He comes looking for fruit on. Now why would He be surprised or upset
that a tree in His garden doesn't produce fruit? ( Luke 13:6; )
He is even willing to give it fertilizer and wait a few years to see if it bears fruit. ( Luke 13:9; )
But if it doesn't eventually bear fruit... it gets cut down.

And how do we "exercise" our faith? (Faith itself is a work)
But according to your statement... faith "does not make a person a child of God" ... does that mean something else is required?

No wonder the Lord is "longsuffering" not wanting any to perish, and he will do all he can to encourage their salvation.
