edifying edit
this post is a follow up of my 2nd post above
posted for your edifying
and to tell of His great love
it also is an edit of my fist post (page 6) where I said
question: should christians own weapons
answer: no
and as you'll see
may best be said
instead
as yes
and despite some who choose folly
and own their guns as toys
proving to all
that they're none
but boys
I think the whole point here in this thread is surely about weapons as things used for assault or shooting or harming another with?
let the boys play with their toys
weapons of our warfare are spiritual
not carnal
see 2 Corinthians 10:4
below is a look at what Jesus did and taught
what He did with the constitutional rights of the day
what He did about a wrong that deserved the death penalty at the time
what He did even if the accusers did so with good moral social or religious intent
and then something He did for the one who did the wrong
shooting straight:
(just quickly)
sin is missing the mark
the target we aim at
so who among you is in a position to out-shoot the Master
to deal with the sinner
or the sin?
read on for what He did
as for rights
and issues of blood and law
once a woman was caught in the act
like so many scenarios presented in this thread
where someone is caught red handed
in someone else's bed
there may be some who read this
who really aren't too sure
the woman was brought before the One Who Christians adore
Who alone is Righteous
when it comes to right and wrong
and the law
they had within their legal rights
the OK to carry stones
to use them in the justice
dealing heartlessly
blindly
against skin
and bones
in those days
much like now
the rights allowed
a citizen
an upright one of course
to mete out due reward
to an offender
and do it in one accord
when they came to Him accusing
the woman caught and guilty
He asked
or said
proposed to them
let him who is perfect
none of you I may add
unless by His Blood
let him who is without fault
who is without sin
let him first cast a stone
it was a legal thing
within
the rights
of everyone
that day
and the law equipped them
weapon-wise
in their own eyes
what could the woman say
they had their rights to use all force
to deal with this act
so universally condemned
a sinner
a religious sort of pact
but something happened
something said
which changed
forever then
the sinner
the one caught
in the very act
in violating woe
and something even greater
if it could be
also happened
around that time
if you would only see
the rights and laws
they lived by
that protected worldly man
was dealt a blow at Calvary
a New law to transpose
a law of love
forgiveness
turn the other cheek
a law that protects the soul
if they would be so meek
to come before
accused
and found
accusers at their heals
a law that covers all the sins
and gathers to the Meals
even the worst of those
those even caught in the act
now this is the truth
yes it is
fact
no weapon needed now
except perhaps one
only one
one we can possess
and with this weapon
we can come
together
no more sin
and partake in that
Meal
remembering the deal
when Christ the King
was crucified
dying there in our place
bloodshed
for every sinner
the whole human race
and we can bring it with us
it's a gift from God above
that weapon is
as you know
free to all
it is
His love
we fight not against
what are weapons for
not against
the flesh
not drawing blood
the carnal rights desire
the lust of self
protecting
the carnal man
his laws
his rights
his cares
his mortal life
his blindness
his scared and threatening dares
are all quite futile
hell-bound
hard
enmity
to say the least
for we who are His
the Christian
it has been plainly said
can cast all their burden
fears
wars
tears and
cares
upon the One
Who died
accused
Who took upon His sinless life
our sins
in such a way
that we can now
forget the rules
the rights to defend our cause
and trust instead
and be counted
worthy
loved
precious
amongst
His jewels
read it for yourself
see it written there
in second Corinthians
ten
verse four
Ephesians six
verse twelve
and John
eight: three to twelve
and we can also read
we have a right
permission
to see the truth
written clearly here
Without the shedding of blood
is no remission.
Hebrews 9:22
which sort of tells us too
that no sorting out
either now or then
eternally we talk
is going to come
until we change the way
in which we walk
His Blood was shed
does it mean no thing
that we our rights
now sing
and do we put His holy law
aside to please
our own
who of you
are sinless
can you cast that first stone
or should you find your comfort
in Him
and Him alone
the people came to Him seeking a go ahead to stone her
look and see how He was the only one left after they all departed
see how He did not throw a stone at her
but laid one at her feet
Himself
the Rock
refuge
safety
hope
and steadfast
friend
so different from the stones
that man would throw
at someone
caught in the act
doing something worthy of death
in their eyes and reasoning
not thrown to hurt
but look too at all those
who consider Him
not well
but as a rock
of offense
defending themselves with weapons of carnal warfare
standing by their rights
and somehow in it all
it is
that through the hate-filled vengeance
He became that Rock
our Saviour
a sin is a sin
don't laugh and grin
the wages of in is death
in this case
by stoning
all have sinned
where did they go
with their weapons of stones to protect them
a social crime
a violation against another
possibly someones mother
which involves a child
one at least
and also a sister or brother
but certainly one is surely hurt
and that is someones lover
now Jesus is become a someone too
no matter how many or how bad you do
and not only has He become a rock
though many still today
they mock
Jesus Christ has filled sins hole
and has and is become
the lover of your soul
so why deal so worldly
why choose the gun
He told us plainly
how to react
to deal with a sinner caught
and if we would
follow Him
that sin can become
as naught
while we make reasons
to exercise our rights
to defend ourselves
and others
remember that woman
caught in the act
and do what's right
dear brothers
