What church do you go to?

what is in a name of church?

I don't think there is anything in the name of church. It is a waste of time talking either. The church is God's. He will take the right church when Jesus comes. So let us all be prepared for that. GBU

I go to a Pentecostal church. Trinity Tabernacle where the pastor is Mary Ann Jones. I love it there.

sorry for double post, but just read this...

God loves the church, Satan hates it. You may want to consider the company you are in with this position...(not saying anything about you personally, just want you to do some self inspection on WHY you feel the way you do)

Erm I dont break out in a sweat if I go near one dear or react like Damien in the Omen

I have my reasons which I will tell you now:

Firstly :- At school we had the local vicar (non catholic) who would come and take assembly I was very young at the time and remember him as a Kind and caring man . A pillar of local Society so much so that he took the local children of poor families on a holiday my brother being one of them . So kind and caring he attempted to sexually abuse my 8 year old brother in a swimming pool , he managed to get his hands down his swimming trunks - My Bro got away - obviously this didnt come out till a few years later but my brother was traumatised.

Secondly :- In our community we have a large catholic church with a club attatched - now this was very successfully run by none other than Father Clonan who I remember as a very charming gentleman , highly respected by the churchgoers and the club users - until it all came out about the years of Child sex abuse , which has resulted in a lot of men suffering psychologically today some committing suicide . All from the experience of being a choir boy or an alter boy. And then what happens he vanishes - , church issuing denials - protected, last we heard he was in Australia , Big headlines not so long ago he was cremated - which I understand is not the catholic way.

Thirdly:

Another local church - A priest has been having sexual relations with a lad whom was 14 at the time and was my class mate .

Fourthly:

My christian friend who was very involved with the church , Sunday school assistant and home group bible studies felt safe in her christian family environment until her marriage fell apart and then she was shunned , talked about and generally ignored and made to feel uncomfortable until she had no choice but to leave - basically judged for her human failings , I have witnessed the hurt that this has caused the lady .

Now all of the above churches are in walking distance from my house so excuse me for not finding these places and the people in them , the vicars and the priests and some of the congregation people I want to be around , I am not small minded and am sure there are some wonderful places and people serving the lord out there but I quite simply do not trust the man in the pulpit . Satan may hate the church but he has got inside it and around here he's been doing the Sunday morning Sermon and giving Holy communion .

So there is my self inspection not that I have anything to inspect really I dont need to go to a church to have my faith or a relationship with god I dont mean to offend and apologise if I have for all you people out there who embrace church life , making friends and have a feeling of belonging amongst a christian family I respect you .

I go to Church of the Open Door, It is the one where Dr. Talbot, J.Vernon McGee used to preach at when he was alive. This church has it's beginning points with Through the Bible, Talbot Seminary, and Biola University.

I was like you. I was raised Catholic, forced to go to church every Sunday and was condemned for my life every step of the way. As a younger adult, I hate anything to do with the church. As I have gotten older my desire to be around people of God grew very strong, if for no other reason than to simply feel better about me. I now go to the Vineyard Church in Wichita, KS. I have never found a more wonderful place filled with so many people so willing to give thier time to help me grow in my faith. I praise God for the day I walked into that church!

So God is so weak that a handful of people have ruined HIS Church to the point that His own cant go there, or should you reconsider your position? Only one is true, you must decide, than later explain, but not to me...

My church is Lenexa Christian Center, a Pentecostal non-denominational church in the Kansas City suburb of Lenexa. You can view our services on TBN and The Church Channel every week. Right now, we're still in Summer break and will resume new programs on TBN in a month or so. You can see reruns on The Church Channel every week. The show is called "Where Miracles Happen". Our Pastor is Mike Purkey, who is also a Gospel recording artist and author.

Check out our website" http://www.lenexachristian.org

Hey Chad, I noticed an advertisement for Bro. Ted Shuttlesworth on your church website. Bro. Shuttlesworth is awesome! We had him at our church about a month ago for "Fire On The Plains" along with Jesse Duplantis, Rod Parsley and Bishop TD Jakes, it was really neat and a great move of The Spirit!

No, God is not weak, humankind is weak. Faith is tested on a daily basis. Only God has the ability to destroy His Church and then, three days later raise it again. :)

Then God is as Sovereign as you claim (BTW I agree) than there is no reason not to go to church...

Edit- I sat under a minister for years that would tell you point blank that the church was flawed because it was made up of people, and the second you find the perfect church you should leave it, not join it, because you would only ruin it. He didn’t say it to point fingers at others flaws, but to illustrate that the perfect church can not exist in this life. God himself knows this as well if not better than we do, yet he commands us in Hebrews to NOT forsake fellowship. The "the church is flawed" excuse will not work for our willful disobedience.

I think you should go back and reread the posts. Your preaching to the choir. I have no problem going to church. In fact, wouldnt that be strange if I did since I am on the pastoral staff...

I go to a Russian pentecostal church. Services are ussually great. Before service actually starts at 10:00, around 9:30 or a little before, a person goes and read the Word for about half an hour till church starts. We start with prayer and singing and the choir performs. then there is, I dont know what to call it, But I guess a good way to describe it would be like a concert. not exactly, but I think you got the point. before, in between, and after we have a sermon. and we end with choir singing and a prayer for the "needs". I ussually enjoy service but occasionally it could be boring if there is no participation. but overall, I love going to church.

what is the church?

I do not serve a denomination though I attend a baptist church. The true church where Christ is the head and we are His members cannot be contained in a building. We, the nation of Israel are God's people. Without the people there is no church.

A song comes to mind, "father Abraham has many sons, and many sons have father Abraham. I am one of them and so are you, so let's just praise the Lord!"

This is not just a childs song or the christian hokey pokey. This song contains a message.
