Repentance ( Must a person forsake his sins before he can come to Christ? )

godb4us

Here we see that God the Father knows who is seeking Him from those that are not. He can foresee who will receive Him from those that prefer their evil deeds rather than to believe in him to be saved. John 3:18-21

God knows who seeks Him because He chose them to seek Him and caused them to approach Him Ps 65:4

4 Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.

Tit 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Not anymore.
That verse doesnt say that man can naturally seek after God. Paul wrote this Rom 3:11
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

Titus 2:11 doesnt contradict Rom 3:11, if anything it supports it. Its talking about grace doing something, not the natural man !

Tit 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,

How many men did God reveal his existence to?

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
Rom 1:19 because the thing which may be known of God is clearly revealed within them, for God revealed it to them.

I dont know what you talking about. You wont receive a simple truth that none by nature seek after God, nor understand Rom 3:11

11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

not anymore.

How many men (people) did Jesus say he would draw unto himself if he be lifted up from the earth?

Joh 12:32 And I, if and when I am lifted up from the earth [on the cross], will draw and attract all men [Gentiles as well as Jews] to Myself. (AMP)

Rom 10:14 But how can people call on him for help if they’ve not yet believed? And how can they believe in one they’ve not yet heard of? And how can they hear the message of life if there is no one there to proclaim it? (TPT)

Rom 10:14 But how are people to call upon Him Whom they have not believed [in Whom they have no faith, on Whom they have no reliance]? And how are they to believe in Him [adhere to, trust in, and rely upon Him] of Whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? (AMP)

How can a person confess their sins if they don't yet believe (have faith) they are a sinner?
They hear the message and then they can have faith and admit they are a sinner and confess their sins, repent of them, and call on Jesus.

People called on the name of the Lord after they confessed and repented of their sins.

God doesnt teach wrong friend Jn 6:45

45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
God doesn't teach wrong but your teachers and you do.

I think something is missing when it comes to faith, repentance, and salvation. No one is saved by faith or repentance because scripture says........

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Grace is God giving you something you do not deserve. Mercy is God not giving you what you do deserve.

There are no works connected to grace because it is a gift. How can a person gain access to grace by which a man is saved without works?

Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Rom 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Faith is the key that gives "access" to grace by which a man is saved.
Grace is that we no longer have to purify ourselves
Grace is that Jesus purifies us now---if we have faith that his shed blood purifies us---after we repent of our sins.

The not of works is Paul explaining that we don't have to do the purifying works anymore.

We still have to obey God, we just don't have to get circumcised and sacrifice animals for their blood anymore.

Where does Faith come from ?
Where does our faith come from, how do we come to believe? Our faith/belief comes from HEARING the word, see Romans 10:17. From hearing the word and being TAUGHT, Colossians 1:5, 7. From continuing in what we have been CONVINCED of, see 2 Timothy 3:14, and being PERSUADED, 2 Corinthians 5:11.

So do you understand that we get faith in a very human way, and we don't get faith supernaturally? We get faith by hearing and believing the supernatural message.

Some people got faith when they saw Jesus do miracles, and some people’s faith increased after Jesus did a miracle.

people can not repent if they do not believe (have faith). Repentance is an action because of faith.
Why are you stuck?
People heard the message that saves, if they want to be saved they have faith and confess and repent of their sins, then they called on the name of the Lord when they came up out of the water.

Acts 22:16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name

People called on the name of the Lord after they confessed and repented of their sins.
The reason why you first must have faith before you confess is because everything a person does without faith is a sin. (Romans 14:23)
How can a person believe his confession is going to do anygood if he has no faith to believe it will?
