@Bendito,
A person that sins have not been made free from sin.
Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin.
Mat 7:17 Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit.
Mat 7:18 A good tree
“cannot” bring forth evil fruit, neither
can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
A good tree is a Righteous believer who cannot bring forth or develop evil fruit (sin) because the Root and nourishment comes from Christ where there is no sin. The born again believer is a new creation in Christ whose sins have been circumcised out of the body of their flesh (Col. 2:11). It’s impossible for them to sin; they are not in the nature of sin where sin develops (Col 1:17; Rom. 11:24).
Before a sinner becomes a believer, they can only develop evil fruit/character.
Rom 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
A sinner in the flesh could only bring forth fruit unto death because the wages of sin was death (Rom. 6:23). Sinners are dead because sin has been judged and condemned by Jesus Christ (Rom. 8:3). Once a believer is alive from sin, they are alive from the wages of sin which is death.
Rom 6:22 But now being made
“free from sin,” and become
“servants to God,
” you have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Your understanding of forgiveness of sin is no right on this subject. If a sinner has been purged from all sins “once for all time” (as scripture teaches), their purging can only happen the first time a sinner comes to Jesus and ask for forgiveness. Every believer has been purged and sanctified one time from sin forever (Heb. 10:10-14).
1John is not talking to believers, but to Jews who didn’t believe the report of Jesus as Messiah and didn’t believe they sin. Verses 1John 1:8-10 is talking to unbelieving Jews. John revealed these Jews error when they believed they were walking in truth while walking in darkness (sin). John told them they were lying because there is no darkness in Christ (1Joh. 1:5, 6).
1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins, and to cleanse us from
“all unrighteousness.
”
All “sins” means all, past, present and future sins. This happens once at the time of conversion. At the time of conversion a sinner is washed, sanctified, justified, forgiven, purged, healed, sins blotted out, sins put away, etc. This happens once. A believer cannot have the Spirit of God and sin while the Spirit is in them. Sin comes from the heart where the Spirit of God resides; the two cannot coexist.
