@Beetow -- in the hypothetical -- a person can set up any set of circumstances he wants and adjust as wanted. Why not just take real-life situations.
Since I'm not Jewish -- lots of these things don't apply to me and I've never really considered them. I've read the Old Testament a couple of times. So I'm familiar With.
Back in Biblical times -- the Old Testament -- the Children of Israel were to be an example to other people groups around them. Set apart from them.
The Jewish people rejected Jesus Christ as their promised Messiah.
Re: Leviticus 26 -- the chapter caption in my NKJ is "the rewards of true worship" vs 1 You shall not make idols for yourselves' neither carved image nor a sacred pillar shall you rear up for yourselves; nor shall you set up an engraved stone in your land, to bow down to it; for I am the Lord your God." Then the passage continues to share all the benefits Of -- there are a Lot of them listed in the following verses. vs 13 " I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves. I have broken the bands of your yoke and made you walk upright."
vs 14 " but it you do Not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgements, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant, vs 16 " I also will do this to you:
And looking at the Deuteronomy passage ---- all of a sudden I'm realizing that you've changed course. Adjusting your hypothetical?!
Previously -- not being stuck in a belief system that isn't Biblical. and Now it's about the children of Israel following God's guidance with all those benefits. They are His chosen people. He's led them out of 400 yrs of bondage / slavery in Egypt.
Of course they'd be wanting to obey / follow Him. But they Did tend to be a rebellious people. Same as we are today. We tend to be a rebellious people. We want to do things our own way and Still benefit from God's promises. Doesn't work that way. "We" either follow God / His ways OR end up in eternal suffering. And it's our personal decision.
Christianity / salvation came to the Jews 1st -- they - as a people group Rejected Him. The Gentiles (the rest of us) were then included. Because of the cross -- Everyone became included.
Christianity is a Lethal religion???!!! If 'you' want a Lethal belief system -- just try for Islam.
"Christ's followers are reckoned joined with Him during His death on the cross?" Well -- we Do believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross - In our place -- was buried and rose again bodily on the 3rd day.
Galations 2:20 -- let's read the entire verse "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."
As we can see -- the Entire verse Does make a difference.
FAQ -- What has to be done for man's new curses? Maybe the question Should be. How do we live our new life in Christ.
It's relationship that God wants with us -- made possible through the death, burial and bodily resurrection Of Jesus Christ. He wants to be our Heavenly Father. Taking everything to Him in prayer.
John 5:24 " Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgement, but has passed from death into life."
Immediately upon a person's salvation -- the Holy Spirit comes to indwell the person -- gives him / her new desires for God's Word -- gives us inner peace never having had previously. Nothing of God is burdensome for a born again believer.
God Does have a good plan for each of our lives. He has Good Works for us to do. But not to sustain our salvation but to serve Him. People Should be seeing Christ in us. Be attracted to Him.
How many people have we shared the Gospel with?
