Hell, or whatever name gets your rocks off, is a place and there is suffering.

  1. Matt 5:22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.
  2. Matt 5:29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
  3. Matt 5:22, 29-30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
  4. Mat 10:28 “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
  5. Mat 11:23 And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to hell; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
  6. Mat 16:18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
  7. Mat 18:9 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.
  8. Mat 23:15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.
  9. Mat 23:33 Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell?

Mark: (Jesus)
  1. Mark 9:43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched.
  2. Mark 9:45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched.
  3. Mark 9:47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.
Matthew:
  • Matt 7:13 Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
  • Matt 7:19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
  • Mat 13:40 Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age.
  • Mat 13:42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
  • Mat 13:50 and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
  • Mat 18:8 If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire.
  • Mat 22:13 Then the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
  • Mat 25:30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
  • Mat 25:41 Then He will also say to those on the left hand, Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:
  • Mark 9:44, 46, 48 where Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.
  • Mark 12:40 who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation.
  • Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
  • Luke 16:24 Then he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
  • John 5:29 and come forth; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
  • John 15:6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
We know the Nazis buried Jews and others in mass graves, allowed people to slowly die, and those camps were "Hell on Earth".
The fault of many Christians is putting modernism on a time and culture that don't exist anymore.
'And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God;
and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life:
and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them:
and they were judged every man according to their works.
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
(Rev 20:12-15)

'But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers,
and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars,
shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone:
which is the second death.'
(Rev 21:8)

Hello @MedicBravo,

All of the references you gave refer to the judgement of the end time, and the fires of destruction that will be in place at that time.

There is no such thing as eternal conscious punishment for mankind. The fire is everlasting, the punishment is eternal, 'the worm does not die', 'the fire not quenched,' but the destruction is final. The dead of mankind who are judged and condemned to the second death, perish and are destroyed. They are the dead, they have no life.

How Can God Send People to Hell Who Haven't Heard About Jesus?

' Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal,
The Lord knoweth them that are His.
And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.'
(2 Tim. 2:19)

@MedicBravo,

God does not send people to a place of eternal conscious punishment: especially those who have never heard the gospel of Christ. Read Romans chapter 2. Which shows how He who knows the secrets of men's hearts will judge justly: the fact that they have never heard will be taken into consideration, as will their works, based on God's foreknowledge and His knowledge of men's hearts. He knows who would have believed had they indeed heard, and He will give life to whom He will.

"How Can God Send People to Hell?"

In the end, there will only be Heaven, and hell (lake of fire) If people reject God and want nothing to do with him then the only place left for them is in the lake of fire. God never sends people to hell they send themselves of their own choosing.
Actually it is because of their sinful nature, they were already condemned to go to hell as hell is a place vacant of all that is good of God as sin drives them away from God and all that is good.

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

That is the whole point of God being the Saviour as Jesus Christ saves sinners from their sins and thus from hell to have eternal life with God for all those that believe in His Son to be saved.

At the time, if Gehenna was the worst place in all the known world then it would be a great analogy for Hell. They could've used every evil, horrible adjective to describe it and the effectiveness of what Hell could be would still be lost on everyone.
If you could experience Hell, everything you know would change. Call me crazy but I don't want a trial period in either place.
I don't think people will see and experience the same thing. It's a supernatural place and how things work are beyond fail human minds. I don't want to find out.
Since there is record of that dump then it's existence would have frightened many. Visual experiences will affect a person more than words on paper.
Being left behind for not being ready nor willing to go will have an everlasting impact on those left behind because those unrepentant saints & former believers will be "damned" as vessels unto dishonor in His House for why those words on paper will finally have an effect as His words would come true.

Hello @GodB4Us,

If, as I believe to be true, Hell indeed means, 'to hide away,' as in the grave: the grave is 'gravedom', or, 'the place of the death;' then it is a fact that all will go there, for all go to some form of gravedom, even if cremated. The only difference between the believing dead and the unbelieving, is that in God's eyes they are merely sleeping, because of the hope of eternal life that He has given to them, for on a day of His choosing we will be raised to life eternal. Whereas the unbelieving dead, were dead even while thy lived, for they had no eternal hope, and they will be raised to judgement. For the believer there is no condemnation, so they will pass from death into life.

Praise God!

Thank you

How Jesus used Gehenna which is as a refuse dump outside the City of God where the castaways go to on earth to be cast into the bed of the coming great tribulation from not being received into the City of God in Heaven, it will also be the place of the unburied dead saints, the valley of slaughter as Revelation 18:1-24 testify of those left behind saints in fallen Babylon as announced by the second angel. After the rapture event for when the first angel spread the everlasting gospel everywhere IS before the end of that world as we know it that we are living in, comes. Revelation 14:1-13

There is a hell on earth as it is a refuse dump for the Lord of all those saints not ready as a third of the earth will burn up Revelation 8:7 for why the dead saints are left unburied in fallen Babylon, the gravedom, the Lord's Gehenna on earth.

Thanks for sharing.

@complete Yeah, ok.
If you think the human soul cannot suffer you are mistaken and misguided. Regardless of the time, before, during, and after Jesus people with either suffer or have paradise. No one needs a frail, human body to experience pain and suffering.

Christians aren't in agreement on how the End Times are going to play out.
Some believe that after Jesus comes back and there is no doubt He exists then it will be too late for anyone. No last chance.
Others believe there will be a time where many can/will repent and be saved after He comes back. For or against, that time won't be good for anyone.

When I read this thread I thought of:
2 Peter 3

3 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water.

6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat.

13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

More than a decade ago I studied the finality of the wicked, out of great concern and distress.

Looking at all the scriptures possible, meaning of words such as " perish" " destroyed and everyone's view and prayed.

Some believe that eternal death is the duration, as in perpetual and never ending.

Others believe eternal death to be the result,as in extinguished and annihilation.

I think of a tree and there is hope for the tree if it dies, and the roots remain.
Just like the true believers only death, once. Job 14
Then in Jude 1:12-13
The autumn trees die twice when they die at the root. The second death.
Death and Hades will be
cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:14
Death the last enemy will be destroyed. 1 Corinthians 15:26

Christians aren't in agreement on how the End Times are going to play out.
Probably why many will not be ready for when the Bridegroom comes in spite of His warnings individually throughout the four gospels as well as His warnings to 7 churches in Revelation to repent and/or to hold fast or else.
Some believe that after Jesus comes back and there is no doubt He exists then it will be too late for anyone. No last chance.
Jesus will lose none of all the Father has given Him and even His word about there being no casting out as the Father's will is to save those that believe per John 6:37-40 but although there is no casting out of His kingdom, there is a casting out from attending the Marriage Supper of the Lamb but still part of the kingdom of Heaven Matthew 25:1-13 & John 15:1-8 & Luke 12:40-49 & Luke 13:24-30 for why there are least in His kingdom per Matthew 5:19 as they are also known as the vessels unto dishonor, vessels of wood & earth, in verse 20 of 2 Timothy 2:19-21 but still in His House. So there is a casting out for not being ready nor willing to go at the rapture but there is no casting out of His kingdom of heaven.
Others believe there will be a time where many can/will repent and be saved after He comes back. For or against, that time won't be good for anyone.
True regarding events after the rapture. albeit the unrepentant. saints and former believers are still saved, but in need of repentance whereas there will be new believers after seeing and hearing the first angel with the everlasting gospel.

Jesus is still Lord.

Hello @MedicBravo,

The soul is the whole person energised by life, so of course it suffers, and loves and cries. Yet when dead, the human body feels nothing, and the spirit or (breath of life) has gone back to God who gave it. No brain function, no senses, no consciousness, no life full-stop.

Hello @MedicBravo,

You are right, there is disagreement among believers concerning how the Scriptures are to be interpreted generally ; and much confusion exists as a result, especially concerning the book of Revelation, and related prophecies. Personally, I believe God says what He means and means what He says, and for the most part interpretation by the reader is not a requirement. All we are called upon to do is believe what we read: though rightly dividing (2 Timothy 2:15) e.g., asking the questions,' what is being said', 'to whom',' at what time', and, 'with what intent'. and so on; taking into account what goes before and what comes after (context) is vital, to avoid misapplication.

Thank you for the thread, @MedicBravo.

People have misunderstood it's use and how different languages use of it do not denote a different place.
The Bible was written in 3 languages: Hebrew (1), Aramaic (2), and Greek (3).
Jesus spoke 1 and 2 and likely by the time Greek was being used the teachers and priests/pastors had to learn Greek OR translate it into what they knew.
Hebrew: sheol - Abode of the dead. Abode has at least 32 synonyms.
Greek: Hades.
Two names for the same place not "different sections of it or another part" or "a different Hell entirely".
Hel - Norse. Same place.
No human has ever experienced it and lived to describe it. No one gets a trial period in either place.
The English language came from 3 different ones I believe and evolved over time to what we have now. Hel = Hell.
Not sure how long English has been a major and standard language for how long and where but it and the popularity of the Bible gave rise to various English (Old and Modern) languages.
Regardless of each word for it they all denote the same place.
I know there is one such website which translates the Greek to English very well and read from R to L unlike how we read in America. You can click on any word, Hebrew, English, or Greek and get a definition.
There are far more people who care about making sure people get the accurate reading of the Bible than those who seek to corrupt it.
Hello @MedicBravo,

I agree that there are many aids to Bible Reading on the market, written by those whose motives are of the very best. I use one or two myself, and seek to find the meanings of the Greek and Hebrew words by referring to the relevant Interlinear Bible, but after looking at concordance definitions and all that is available to me, I know that the only true and reliable source is the Bible itself, by comparing Scripture with Scripture, and seeking to find how the Holy Spirit has used the words, and in what context.

God had His word written, by the hand of different writers of His choosing, throughout the Old Testament and the New, and delivered His word in such a way that those to whom it applied would have no difficulty in understanding it. It is also in parts cloaked in mystery, too, that His purposes may be fulfilled, but I have no doubt that what He would have us know He will reveal to us, as we wait on Him and believe what He says.

It needs a believing heart, a willing mind, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, who will take of the things of Christ, and make them known unto us. Even if we sometimes feel that we are looking through a glass, darkly, one day we will know, even as we are known.

Praise God

I also use the Strong's Concordance, and Englishman's Greek and Hebrew concordances, which help with word searches; and online I use the 'scripture-4-all.org' Greek and Hebrew Interlinear Bibles, which are helpful.
