I reported on what I saw first hand...Christians in general seem to form opinions and judgments based on hearsay...

This is a very untrue / common worldly statement / view.
Christians are to judge all things 1 Cor 2:15. Correct only those professing to be Christians 1 Cor 5:12. If we don't want to get judged / defend our beliefs, we should stop preaching / using the bible as our source of truth / calling ourselves Christians.

Whilst I disagree 100% with Bendito's and the OP take on prosperity. I completely agree with any preacher not using hell as a scare tactic to get converts.
The reason the prosperity message is false is the same reason hell is not to be a scare tactic. Namely, God is good Psalm 136:1 and impartial Acts 10:34. This is why we give thanks.

Hell is not a scare tactic it is part of the gospel brother. Unsaved people need to know about it, and saved people need to be reminded about it. It is in the bible.
Just like the parable of the rich merchant who built barns to store all his wealth and materiel things, Jesus warns us not to be like that. Lay your treasures up in heaven not here on this earth. I am willing to bet you will never ever here a property preacher teach on this parable. So many warning about how easy it for the rich to fall prey to worshiping there stuff in the bible, instead of God, but you will never here them preach on that.
Hell is not the only thing they do not preach on, I bet you never here them say we are all sinners and need saving.

Reminded 'of' it. As in there is a separate eternal home for all who love what is evil. Lambs and goats separated. Not a place as Dante's inferno suggests. We can preach it as a scare tactic without realizing it.
