LOL We do not follow the traditions of Christmas Amanda, and no we do not celebrate Halloween. Nor would we. As to a feast? How many times did GOD command a feast? I can even recall one time when GOD told the people to buy whatever their heart desired including booze. JESUS is the very core of our lives. HE is the very reason we breathe. HE's the subject and reason for singing. And yes! We should be doing that all year long, and do for the most part. Consider..If we celebrate JESUS all year, why is it wrong to celebrate HIM at this time of year? HE is the reason we live and we try to keep focused on HIM all the time.

As a matter of fact we agree that the traditional celebrating of Christmas is blasphemous. I'm saying though, that we can still celebebrate JESUS at this time of year too.

So now....! A challenge. Many Christians like to point out the wrong in 'Christian' traditions without offering any recourse. My challenge to you is...Offer an alternative to Christmas. What can we celebrate at this time of year that is godly? With godly traditions and no demonic undertones. Come on! Along with criticism there should always be constructive ideas.
We could celebrate Hanukkah, I suppose.
Better yet, why not make our own holiday. One with the worship of our Lord Jesus. No presents, no annoying materialistic T.V ads, just praise and worship of the Savoir, Jesus. You know what, I'm nominating December 29th as Jesus Christ appreciation day a day of focusing in Jesus, praising his name, and remembering his teachings sacrifice and redemption power,

Another Christmas season is here. Why December 25, since it's unlikely that Jesus was born at this time of year? The Roman Church simply took the Saturnalia, a licentious celebration of the winter solstice dedicated to Saturn, and Christianized it in order to convert pagan Rome. The actual effect was to paganize official Christianity. For example, statues of Isis and Horus were renamed Mary and Jesus so that pagans could continue their idolatry under Christian names. Pagan customs involving vestments, candles, incense, images and processions were incorporated into Church worship and continue today. No authentic history denies these facts.
Would the world, then, be better off without Christmas? Atheists think so and wish to remove all manger scenes and crosses from public places. Rather than joining the enemies of God in denouncing Christmas, however, might we not better cultivate the bits of truth that shine through the lamentable commercialization and paganism? This is a unique time of year for presenting the gospel to the world, so let us take advantage of the opportunity.
Christ's birth and the details of His life, death and resurrection were foretold centuries before by the Hebrew prophets. No such prophecies preceded the births of Buddha, Confucius, Muhammad, et al. Biblical prophecy fulfilled is the most powerful persuader we have. Paul used it in converting the lost and turned the world of his day upside down. So should we.
In Romans 1:1-4 we see Paul's approach. He refers to "the gospel of God, (which he [God] had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures)." Christianity is not a first-century invention. It is, in fact, the fulfillment of that which, with one voice, the Hebrew prophets consistently foretold for centuries.

@El Hombre, thank you for further explaining your position and how it is that you and your family celebrate this time of year. I must say after hearing your explanation that I can agree with what you have described.
I personally believe that celebrating Christ on the 25 is not wrong as El Hombre pointed out we are not to judge another on the days that they hold holy. I believe that if we walk in spirit and truth allowing the Spirit to guide us in all that we do then we are celebrating Christ every day and if we choose to set aside a day to honor God there is nothing wrong with that. I also feel that the instant we partake in any of the ritualistic practices of a pagan holiday this is when we have entered into sin. On Christmas those ritualistic practices consist of the Christmas tree, yuletide log, wreaths, etc. and getting involved in these is Idolatry because they are set up to glorify Santa Clause (a god who is no God) which in turn is really honoring Satan.
As for the question about what can we celebrate during this time of year I have nothing wrong with celebrating Christ but why not do it with communion as that is the one thing that we have been commanded of God to celebrate that honors Christ and what he has done for us.

That's ok Amanda You'll be ok. Just as soon as you learn to read . You're reading in cruise control. Take your time and read again. I said that my family celebrates JESUS. I also said we do not celebrate all the pagan gods and their traditions. I said it quite clearly.
Often the problem with communications is that people try to formulate their answers before they've gotten all the other person has to say.

There is a man named Jim Staley. He's with Passion for Truth Ministries. He shares on You Tube about Christmas. The clip is called "Should Christians Celebrate Christmas" Its a bit long but well worth watching. There is much in there that I did not know. I was horrified to learn how much the Christian churches are in deception. Still.....we cannot judge other Christians and we will not. They do not know, and it's they that do know and still choose their own way that are in sin.

I think it can be good to know some of the pagan roots that go into Christmas as it is often celebrated.
That being said, I think a mature believer has a very broad degree of freedom that they can exercise. I've not celebrated Christmas some years, and celebrated it many others. The years I didn't do anything special for Christmas, I didn't feel the least bit more holy. I don't really think God cared much at all.
I don't take the whole Christmas thing too seriously, it's really not any different than any other day of the year to me. But, it is nice to get to be with family and friends and have a good time. I also enjoy getting to give other people gifts, and Christmas is a nice excuse to do so without people thinking I'm weird for giving them something.
So, are there pagan things about Christmas? Ya, I think there are. But I don't think abstaining from it completely gives us any brownie points with Jesus, I think we just need to check our hearts and motivations and make sure we don't get sucked into idolatry and greed, but also make sure we are making the best of the times, taking full advantage of the time off from work that we can spend with those we love.
