Why not take a stab at answering the verses I posted above?

All things are legal and lawful to us as Christians. If that's the case there is NO sin in celebrating Christmas in the way we do. We celebrate JESUS not some baby eating pagan god.


Look! I am the righteousness of GOD. I am HIS son. I have the say as to what is lawful and what is not (of course you are too if you walk in LOVE). I strongly suggest you spend your time getting into the WORD and learning about how you are loved by GOD instead of looking for picky picky to argue about.
Christians in general are so sin concious they forget about being righteousness concious.

And before you go complaining that I am being offensive.....I find this junk about Christmas offensive. We do not have enough feasts (celebrations). Midwinter is a very good time to celebrate. It breaks up the monotony of the bleak season. Easter is a good time to celebrate. It lets us cut loose and enjoy the spring time.
Stop looking for sin and start looking for LIFE!!!

Answer this... We have dominion in the Earth not some pagan god. Those gods must bow their knees to us!

I am having trouble getting to post where I want it to go, and it's brought me here three times so I will post where it wants me to.After reading Davy's post I was very sad. I knew what I wanted to say but I had no source to give. I now have spent time to give a very outstanding place to give rebuttal on Christmas traditions.Willian Fedderer has a book he wrote THERE REALLY IS A SANTA CLAUS The History of Saint Nicholas and Christmas Holiday Traditions. William Fedderer is a well known Christian who is famous for his study os Christian History. The only way I know to get this book is to google his name or the tv progran where they list a phone number to order this book is 800 232 9855 (I hope this is ok to give the # to order this book)There is so much being sad that we really are not sure for sure what is truth. There is much about Christmas trees and lights that have been said that is far from reality. But when we hear something we may be apt to believe a lie. Then after we believe it, we pass on the lie and before you know it a lot of people are believing a big mistruth.I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and enjoy the lights and the green trees and yes they do have a Christian history and are not from pagan history!

I notice that the complaints issued against the Christmas holiday come from false cult religions totally made up of men mostly originating around the pre/post period of World War I, essentially antichrist in nature, such as the JW's who go by a man-made "bible" that changed the holy scriptures abominably. So why let a hair on your head by ruffled by such folks who even perverted the name of God? The ancient Hebrew had no vowels in His name, yet according to the primary opponents of Christmas to be "saved" one must declare a name requiring vowels to say a substitute name taken from another substitute name for YHWH.

Christians exist because of the words of the Holy Bible, not some other religious volume. The Christian scriptures put all this in a very distinct manner. Romans 14:[5] One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. [6] He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

Why does it matter at all to us when someone declares the day isn't? I esteem Christmas as a day above other days. There is no sin in that. There is no sin in picking a delightful day to honor the birth of our Lord Jesus. There is not one Mosaic prohibition against lights, evergreen trees in the house, fake trees in the house, ornaments, or even playful reference to St Nick, who was a real person. The only harm done over observing Christmas is spreading doubt among each other concerning that, which is usually linked to doubt about the reality of Jesus. Jesus is not a mere parable or metaphor as some para-christians believe, but a real live person whose testimony is recorded in the Christian Bible. So get on with it without doubting, or don't observe it if your conscience says not to. The words of that passage above gives each of us the confidence for yea or nay.

Dovegiven thats a great story. It seems like if that is the only time your grandkids get to be taught the Bible, if it is there is a problem there. Anyway the Bible clearlybsays not to mix the holy with the profane. We see very very serious consiquence for doing that. Ex) Nadab and Abihu, Beltachazzar in Daniel, Jews and the Holy temple selling, Rev14 with Babylonian wine, etc.

Dont matter what good you do in Gods eyes its a man made tradition, you know this to be true and if not your willingly being ignorant which will make you guilty. Read Mark 7:7-10. In vain they worship me God is saying. Throw in Christmas in there. God bless. Considered warned.

Absolute truth is like Jesus is the way, the truth the life. Another is Father, Son, Holy Spirit are one. And so on so forth. Christmas being made supposedly holy by a Roman Pope back in the days and followed by millions deceived people(because most know the truth and ignore it because of TRADITIONS) is another absolute truth.

I say what I celebrate. No pagan religion will dictate that. I say what I celebrate because I have dominion.

Obedience, the word needs to be clarified bgsda.

The very will of God is that we believe in

bgsda, I wonder if the SDAs ever read the scriptures concerning the birth of Jesus since any emphasis on a human birth is considered by many, even some Jews, too pagan. Is Luke 2 off limits? There was much celebration over the birth of Jesus!

My daughters attended a Christian school K-4, now having to attend public school. In those early years they learned much of the Bible at school, and at home. We pay a lot of attention to education here, but so far have never heard of anyone covering Luke 2 on a regular basis all year long. It takes a year to cover all the major Bible stories and songs, memorization of scriptures, etc.. all repeated each year with increasing "spiraled" intensity. At the Christmas season is when they emphasize the birth of Jesus in plays, song, and recitations.

No person in our family is having to play the part of the Grinch or Scrooge, held down by religious prohibitions, but are free through the Law of Life and Liberty. Hey, we even celebrate each others spiritual birthday. I think it is pleasant to remember that special day of being born again into the Kingdom of Heaven. But perhaps that too would be a bit too pagan for you?

I can agree that if we combined the pagan elements as used by pagans for giving attention to other gods and the elements of earth, water, fire, etc, and the Winter Solstice for instance, then paganism would be introduced. But, I see no connection. Astrology is forbidden in the Bible, yet Jesus is linked to a special star. I don't think that is prohibited by God, but I suppose SDA might hold that in suspicion.

More then likely I'll begin phasing out Christmas somewhat in the near future, except giving out cards and some presents to my close friends and relatives. At least until and if I get married and have kids, if any. For me, it's more about convince than following the law, given just staying organised is enough of a challenge for me.

The Bible does not command us to remember our Lord's birth but His death by way of the Lord's supper proclaiming the Lord's death until He come.

Thanks Fragrant Grace that's a helpful post. Seeing the way that the thread has developed, I rather regret the way I weighed in at the beginning.

On 25 December and throughout this season some of us will worship Jesus Christ especially mindful of the miracle of his incarnation. Others will prefer to worship not making any distinction between this day and any other. I would prefer that we unite around the essentials - Jesus is Lord - than squabble about dates and special days. The Bible neither commands nor forbids Christmas celebrations, so the choice is one of personal preference and conscience.
