Hello My name is Rick ..and I can relate to the trial your going thru ..Ive been thru very similar one's. ..it helps to read how to deal with them ..and I did read all of it thank you

Hi!!
I can't even begin to tell you how much of a God thing this was to have stumble upon this thread looking for answers while exhausting almost every effort to find peace and know that I'm not alone in this. I've struggled with these thoughts for almost 8 Years now!!!! Every year, month, day, mintue and second is different. I've dealt with unbelievable shame and doubt and have cried out in desperate prayers of salavtion and forgiveness for those past 8 years I couldn't even tell you how many times...just hopping that this would be the last time. And sadly it wasn't.....I struggle also with OCD and I know that satan will use my weakness to his advantage so not only do these unwanted awful thoughts pass but I obsess and worry over them till I mentally break. I'm so relieved that I am not alone and I know that I am a child of God bought and paid for by the precious blood of my savior Jesus Christ and there's nothing anyone or anything including satan himself could do that could ever take that away....not even these thoughts. I will mediate on these truths of scripture you have quoted and use these in my spiritual warfare. Prayers sent to you and every other person dealing with this battle. Together we can lift each other up and give strength and comfort to one another knowing we are truly not alone!!!

I have herd it say by a few Godly men that it is impossible today to blasphemy God in the way the bible is teaching it. I have not study on it so I can not say either way. But here is a great article on it

Insert from the article
Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit has to do with accusing Jesus Christ of being demon-possessed instead of Spirit-filled. This particular type of blasphemy cannot be duplicated today

What is the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit?

I agree with what you're saying there's also a great app called Got Questions that has an article regarding this and what is known as the unforgivable sin. Also there's a great article on intrusive thoughts....backing by scripture what we are all discussing here, the guilt and if we can be forgiven. Which we know the answer is YES. The thoughts I personally deal with aren't necessarily blasphemy against the holy spirit but more of these intrusive thoughts. Thoughts that are so evil and shameful....I don't know where they came from its like all the sudden one day they were there. Again I struggle with OCD so I think my mind and thoughts fixated on these certain words while crossing these sayings "cruse words with Jesus' name" in readings on social media posts or heard spoken by unsaved people and they just stuck like glue. I do believe satan uses my weakness to his advantage I just truly thought I was alone and no one else ever thought or dealt with anything like this in their lives. I talked with my pastor and was so ashamed and embarrassed I honestly didn't open up much about it bc of it. I mean they'll just pop in my head anytime and anywhere and it can be beyond frustrating when it happens while I'm at church or doing my devotions or even praying...it's like I know I'm doing what I'm supposed to and yet satan is still infiltrating. This is where doubting my salvation started bc it just seemed how can someone(me) who is saved and has the holy spirit dwelling inside of them(me) be facing such awful and sinful thoughts...But it's somewhat of relief to know I'm not alone that there are others Believers in Christ that have this same spiritual battle. Maybe not necessarily the same exact thoughts but sinful and guiltful ones. My favorite verus has always been Romans 8:38
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love death can't and life can't the Angels can't and the demons can't our fears for today and our worries about tomorrow and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away-
------taking from this that no demon and no power of hell can EVER seperate us from our Savior!!! Satan may seem like he's powerful but surely nothing is more powerful than our(my) Savior Jesus Christ.

HI kit,

I'm glad I'm not alone in waging this war even while I pray. I've been there many times while praying and these intrusive thoughts(my battle being of curse words) would just pop in my mind and I would become so full of guilt thinking I've cursed while praying and how could this be forgiven or worse how could I be saved?

Satan works so deceitfully and will do anything in his power to tear us down in our faith. Of course God knows my heart and that I have never and would never speak these words that cross my mind. That's where I began to distinguish that this truly was not of my heart but the works of Satan and God know that. It's still a struggle and I remind myself daily it's not whether I feel saved, since we all know how much satan loves to play with our emotions too, its by Jesus and Jesus alone that I have been made new and forgiven. My pastor has a great saying he says JUSTIFIED- just as if I've never sinned- this is was happens when we put our faith in Jesus alone to save and forgive us. Its hard sometimes to comprehend all that Jesus has done for us bc our minds are finite and His is infinite...we just don't comprehend it all but that my friends is what faith is!!

Hi Peace Seeker:

You will be strong now. You will be able to recognize many things, that is a reward of fighting the spiritual war.

Yep, I went through some of that, I could be in the middle of a prayer or trying to just talk to God and there would be those thoughts just out of the blue.

I knew what and where they were coming from, but yes they can cause great distress and concern. Because you fear you did allow yourself to do something stupid. But actually we do not, it is just using our own fear against us. A highly skilled mental game conducted by Satan.

Even now sometimes a sneak attack comes out of the blue, I can be trying to talk to God and it will be a powerful attack, just deny God and curse him, look he is not meeting your expectations or some such nonsense.

So even when you win the war, that guy Satan still tries a sneak attack time to time.

Hard to put into words for me, but I understand, and it will make you strong. You will now instantly recognize untruths and when Satan attacks you can just say go away and push it away. It becomes just like shooing away a fly.

A spiritual war will increase your faith by many ways. It beyond any doubt confirms the spiritual world and it becomes impossible to yield to doubt or question. Except for those occasional sneak attacks but they amount to nothing and once fully understood only serve to increase your faith.

So Satan loses, and God in his way gains his Glory. Another battle won. !!!!

Yes I understand, it got to the point at one time it would be in the middle of a prayer , there would be Satan and demand that I deny God. Right in my face. He gave up being nice. Thing is by his presence he only proved the fact he was the problem .

Hard to put into word how the spiritual war is at times.

So I will simply say Thanks to our Father in Heaven, the Glory be yours for the revelation to another in the truth of all that is.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread. But I too faced this. That vile wicked enemy warped my mind but I am being restored, supported, strengthened and placed on a firm foundation (1 Peter 5:10) by our Holy Father in Heaven and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. Thank you very much for this. I've been going back and forth for the last 6 months or so but lately I've been feeling much better by praising the Lord, moving forward in Faith and rededicating myself to the Lord Jesus Christ through doing the first works I did when I got saved back around '08-10. The Lord Christ Jesus be with you all and that the Father Himself strengthen every weak area in your inner man. INJA.

Let us indeed remember that God does dwell in the praises of His people. And who are His people?

"But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel." Psalm 22:3

"Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;" Rom 9:4

The Best Thing that Ever happened to me was Giving my life to CHRIST. And the second thing is to STUMBLE ON THIS ARTICLE.

At some point i gave up thinking i was going to hell.

As a Young boy at 15 years old in school i had this class mate who just got born again he became so dedicated to the things of God that he became so Aggresive in trying to make us receive christ. So he mentioned like if the Enemy wants to finish us is to just make us blaspheme against the holy spirit. Instantly i was stroke with great fear from inside. I tried to control my self i couldn't d enemy keep playing tricks with my thought making me think negetively about, and convincing me that i had committed the sin i became so disturbed but i manage to get over it.
For about 7 years i went on feeling Condemned already. I lived life carelessly. Until i got sick and some lead to my repentance. I received Christ and i told some few people my experience and they enlightened me that i had not committed the sin.
The devil being angry that God saved me from his Trap now is retaliating trying to bring me back to the bondage, convincing me that i was actually the one bringing up those evil thoughts.
But i thank God for this Article it has encourage me to even draw closser to God. I shall fight this BATTLE WITH JESUS ON MY SIDE.
FOR WE FIGHT NOT FOR VICTORY but IN VICTORY, because JESUS has defeated the Enemy already.
Help me with prayers please

I am posting this testimony of the spiritual battle I have been in, because I have noticed that some people are concerned about blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. I don't know if anyone would even be interested in my testimony on this, because for one thing it will probably end up being too long to sit and read all the way through. But in case you are interested, I will be telling of my experiences with the hope that it will help you to cope with and have victory over it, without all the trial and error I went through.

Chad has some excellent posts on the subject and they do a great job of explaining what it is and isn't, but they don't elaborate on the tactics of the devil relating to the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit and how to overcome the attacks.

So what follows here is my personal, real-life account of an 8 week war (and counting?) with the devil and his attempts to :

1) make me believe I have committed blasphemy of the Holy Spirit 2) make me doubt my salvation 3) make me doubt God's love for me 4) make me feel guilty beyond hope 5) make me believe his thoughts WERE MY THOUGHTS 6) make me lose my sanity

Throughout this ordeal God has been revealing scriptures to me, among the many others things that have happened, and the one that stands out is :

2 Corinthians 1:3-7 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

It is my fervent hope that all who read this and can relate to it, will take comfort in this post, like the God of all comfort has given so abundantly to me!!

So here it is now, my testimony :

For the last 8 weeks I have had continuous attacks from satan, who has been trying to put filthy, blasphemous thoughts about the Holy Spirit into my mind. They are the most vile and horrifying thoughts you could possibly imagine. At the beginning they absolutely horrified me and caused me no end of distress, to put it mildly!

And last but not least, he was trying his absolute best to convince me that all those thoughts WERE MY THOUGHTS, because he knows how much torment that can cause to a believer in Christ.

Here is what I have discovered through 8 weeks of doing spiritual warfare with satan : he is able to plant thoughts in your head that are indistinguishable from your own! Not only that, he is able to literally finish sentences for you!

I discovered that the enemy’s thoughts blend in with my own. At first I was unable to tell where my thoughts ended and Satan’s began. In a split second he can finish my own thought with a swear word.

These thoughts made me feel for sure that I did the unpardonable sin and was now therefore totally lost, un-redeemable and without hope for salvation..

Now, before I continue, I want everyone to know that what I have been going through is not at all uncommon. We read in

1 Corinthians 10:13 :
New International Version (NIV)

13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

And perhaps some think what is meant here is that we all have temptations about similar mundane things, like our finances, marriage struggles, losing our job, health problems, etc. But unless you have experienced a barrage of blasphemous thoughts from satan, you would not believe the above verse applies to that kind of situation.

After all, you would suppose, what kind of Christian would have thoughts like that? Thoughts so horrible that I wouldn't repeat them if I could. Thoughts that could seemingly only come from the most reprobate and evil mind.

That's what satan was trying desperately to make me believe, that this thing was only happening to ME, that it couldn't POSSIBLY happen to a "real" Christian.

He was working overtime to make me believe that no one was as horrible as me, because anyone thinking such thoughts must be the worst person on the face of the earth. And did I really believe a Christian could be having thoughts such as these? Therefore I mustn't be a Christian.

These are some of the things I had to battle and that initially tormented me so much.

And just to clarify, the evil thoughts weren't conscious decisions I just made out of the blue to purposely insult, grieve, malign or blaspheme God, etc.
I then, as I do now, have no desire whatsoever to say, think or do anything negative towards God, towards anyone in the Godhead. The wicked thoughts that came into my mind were VERY FAST AND RANDOM - unexpected , unplanned, etc. And as fast as I could possibly do so, I would stop the thought and take it into captivity in obedience to
2 Corinthians 10:4-6:
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

At the beginning, when the thought attacks first started, I was so frightened, because as a Christian I knew that having a horrible thought against the Holy Spirit would never be forgiven, and is in fact the only one mentioned in the bible as not being forgiven.

In fact I would literally shriek inside with horror and like I said earlier, be extremely grieved, upset, and mortified at such thoughts. Again I say, they were incredibly quick flashes of horrible thoughts, directed at the Holy Spirit. I did not sit there and say to myself anything remotely along the lines of : " I hate God, so I think I'll have some fun and do some blaspheming", if you know what I mean.

I am now going to give you just a little info about how I was attempting to stop the attacks, why that failed miserably, and what I finally figured out after listening to God and doing it His way.

If you ever find yourself , or know of someone else in the situation I was in, you will know what to do and it will save you a lot of ongoing torment.

Because I hated those thoughts I did my very best to stop them in their tracks as soon as I could - casting down imaginations, taking every thought into captivity, etc.
I rebuked satan in Jesus' name many times, I bound satan in Jesus' name many times, I listened to praise music all day long, etc.

But the attacks kept coming at me, over and over. It was hard to sleep, hard to function in the day and very distracting from serving and looking solely upon the Lord, which is what I wanted to do.

THIS IS IMPORTANT : The reason my efforts to stop the attacks didn't work was because I was trying to fight a spiritual battle with my FLESH.

Not only that, but because of the way the human mind works, the act of trying to stop a thought, or not remember it or think of it, GUARANTEES you will do it!! Our natural reaction would be to try and stop and silence the thought. Trust me, no one would want such thoughts in their head about their mother, never mind God in the person of The Holy Spirit!!!

But I repeat, if you are having those thought attacks, you will heap even more misery upon yourself by trying to combat them by simply sheer force of will. The goal must never be the avoidance of blasphemous thoughts. The harder we try to avoid them, the worse they will get.
The only way to combat them is by doing hardcore spiritual battle.

Ephesians 6:11-18 11
Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
14 Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit...

Taking up the shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, is CRUCIAL. You need to fight spirit by Spirit. There are numerous bible verses that tell us who we are in Christ, what we can expect from Him, etc. And we must wield these passages like a sword in order to defeat the enemy.

Jesus stopped satan's attacks against Him in the wilderness by QUOTING SCRIPTURE. We must do the same.

The word of God - the sword of the Spirit - tells us in

Philippians 4:7

The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Amen!

Believing in and using verses like this one is one of the weapons you need. Satan cannot overpower your mind, no matter how convincing he is to the contrary!! And make no mistake, he is very convincing!!
If satan seems to be overpowering your mind, you must pray and believe that God WILL guard it. He cannot lie.

2 Timothy 4:18
18 And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!

If being bombarded by a howitzer of blasphemous thoughts is not AN EVIL WORK, I don't know what is!!!

Therefore, this scripture assures us that the Lord will deliver us from EVERY evil work. Trusting in God and His incredible power and love for you is essential to gaining the victory that Christ has given you.

More spiritual battle verses :

Psalms 46:1God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Proverbs 18:10 The name of the lord is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and the are safe"

Joshua1:9 Be strong of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Colossians 2:15New International Version (NIV)

15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

We must keep our eyes on Jesus at all times, and not let satan's thoughts distract us and distress us. When Peter took his eyes off the Lord and instead looked at the waves for a brief second, he started to lose faith and sink into the sea that he had moments before been walking on.

No matter what scary distractions the devil throws at you, keep your focus on Jesus.

Unwanted thoughts are simply a form of temptation, and all Christians are tempted.

Calmly address the devil, saying something like, “In the name of Jesus I rebuke you. No matter what lies and filth you put into my head, Jesus defeated you and I belong to Jesus, and in Him there is no condemnation in me..”

Romans 8:1New International Version (NIV)

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

1 Corinthians 15:57
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalm 27:1
1The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Romans 8:37-39
37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I will leave it that regarding scriptures. There are so many more, the point of which is, we have nothing to fear from unwanted blasphemous attacks.

We must stubbornly resist the pressure to surrender to the enemy's lies, whether it be false condemnation or believing that we are responsible for thoughts we do not want.

Don’t waste your resources getting sidetracked into self-examination or fighting thoughts or feelings. No matter how real and scary they seem, they are just cardboard cut-outs.

The plan of the devil with these thoughts is to try to sabotage our relationship with God. He wants us so fixated on trying to fight unwanted blasphemous thoughts and so foolishly convinced that they render us repulsive to God, that we misinterpret our Lord’s every expression of love for us.

The devil wants us to push God away through being duped into wrongly supposing that ugly thoughts render us unacceptable to the God who is head over heels in love with us.

Unwanted thoughts, no matter how repulsive, are merely pesky flies that refuse to be shooed away
.

So in summary, satan putting blasphemous thoughts into the minds of Christians is not unusual or uncommon.

We must recognize that no negative thought is from God. They are a deception from the father of lies, who is a murderer, thief and destroyer.

We must focus on JESUS, not satan or his attacks. NO MATTER WHAT, focus on Jesus and never forget that He will never forsake you or let the enemy harm you. Jesus is the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for His sheep. No wolf or roaring lion will take you out of His hands!!!

Jesus has defeated satan and overcome the world. All authority is given to Him in heaven and earth. What can satan do to you? What can HIS thoughts do to you? He is a weak and defeated enemy that plays on our insecurities and weaknesses, but ultimately is a paper tiger doing shadow puppets on the wall to try and scare us.

I was in utter turmoil when the thoughts first started, because I had never experienced them before. And as I said, they are SO REAL and so INDISTINGUISHABLE from your own.

But I am telling you this testimony so you don't have to have any turmoil if it happens to YOU. You will know what it is that is happening to you, why it is, and what you can do about it. Just ignore the devil, for it makes his day when he gets to you and causes you grief.
Resist him and he will FLEE.

In part 2 I will talk about some great Christians that have gone through the very thing I have talked about. And if you ever get these attacks, know that you will be in some great company!!

The blasphemers of the Holy Spirit are the one's that cannot keep themselves alive without the "breath of life". They are called the "proud" of the earth, the inhabits that perish, also known as the flesh of man.

Genesis 6
12: And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth.
13: And God said to Noah, "I have determined to make an end of all flesh; for the earth is filled with violence through them; behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

17: For behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life from under heaven; everything that is on the earth shall die.

I Corinthians 5:
1: It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and of a kind that is not found even among pagans; for a man is living with his father's wife.
2: And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you.
3: For though absent in body I am present in spirit, and as if present, I have already pronounced judgment
4: in the name of the Lord Jesus on the man who has done such a thing. When you are assembled, and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus,
5: you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

The spirit of man in the spirit of God remains forever but the flesh ( the blasphemer ) born of Lucifer dies and will never be remembered again. The flesh of man is the proud of the earth that cannot keep themselves alive without the spirit of God ( breath of life ), also known as the Word of God.

Isaiah 40
6: A voice says, "Cry!" And I said, "What shall I cry?" All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field.
7: The grass withers, the flower fades, when the breath of the LORD blows upon it; surely the people is grass.
8: The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand for ever.

John 1
1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2: He was in the beginning with God;
3: all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.
4: In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

John 6
63: It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh is of no avail; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

So now you should understand who is the blasphemer of the Holy Spirit of God.

I'm so thankful that I am not the only one going through this type of situation every word with that was said in this post was useful and helpful because it had me these thoughts had me really thinking that I was going to help because of me Blessed Mother against the Holy Spirit but now I know it is just part of the spiritual warfare I've been Faithfully walking in the obedience God and to have these thoughts into my head had me very worried and concerned I'm going to get baptized tomorrow and the day before I get baptized I have evil thoughts in my head I couldn't understand April 30th 2017

My preacher said if you are worried about these thoughts then you did not have them, only someone who is against God who is self admitted against God, would be guilty if those thoughts creeps into your mind and you and it terrifies you, Praise the Lord its just the devil trying to trick you, ask God for protection, fast for protection, study the bible and be armed with the word of God, Praise the Lord for you my brother in Christ !!

Hey Micheal sorry about that, sister !!

So as I was sitting in church today, before the sermon was about to begin I open the bible to do a little reading and low and behold the bible open right up to this very subject and as I read it, something dawned on me it says we have to speak it for it to be be unpardonable, it does not say anything about thinking, because I believe we all know sometime are thoughts are not are own. Praise Jesus !!

Matthew 12:32
And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

I hope this has not been said to many times already but I wanted to share something the Holy Spirit lead me to.

In the new Testament when we find Jesus mentioning blasphemy against the Holy Spirit was always After some one accused something of being of the devil that was really of God.

I saw it!! There are a lot of folks claiming this and that these days about ministries and servants of God and so forth.

A simple Google search will bring you all sorts of boasting claims about heresy and false this and that from very religious looking and sounding sites who misuse scripture to back their claims Against Things Of God.

Take Heed to who and what you say is of the devil and not God. It may simply be that you have yet to gain some deeper insight to the things of God.

Your better off saying Nothing then making claims against others.
Just wanted to add this and I hope it has not taken away from this thread.
Blessings

Blessings
Jim

Hello...im a 19 year old female. Who deals with these issues. And I also dealt with addition to Pornography. I have been a couple of month clean.

But I used to get the thoughts and go into a porn watching mode to get my head way from it. Which only makes it worst. The thoughts first came out of nowhere when a preacher was preaching on the subject about 3 years ago. And ever since then I've been scared. Sometime I would never get them and others times it's almost unbearable. I thought I was alone. And I still far from perfect and I've been dealing with temptation and the thoughts. But I always fight it. You have to fight for what you believe in. And I believe that Jesus died for my sins. And there isn't a hole too deep that he can't pull you out of.

Have a blessed day,
Prim
