You can read the whole of Peter's presentation of the gospel here at this link ------> Acts 2:14-47

But to save time, I wish to share the highlight of Peter's presentation of the gospel being the same to the Jews as he has given it to the Gentiles but just not so obvious to the readers. So the Lord has to cause the increase here, because there is no call of repentance from sins perse other than the call to repent from unbelief by believing in Him to get the remissions of sins and the gift of the Holy Ghost at the believer's salvation moment.

Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. <----- Peter pointed out the Jews sin of crucifying Jesus in unbelief.
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? <----- This is the sin of unbelief in Jesus Christ that the Jews were convicted of.
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. <-- Note the call to repent is how they receive the remission of sins.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. <---- Note that this calling is universal to repent from unbelief by believing in Him is how we are born again.

It is the same gospel presentation given to the Gentiles on how to receive that remission of sins albeit a whole lot clearer and plainer as given by this same Peter as there is only one gospel. Do note the cause & effect below.

Acts 43:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

So before any one came forward, before any one confessed Him or got water baptized in His name, they had been born again of the Spirit by believing the very words of Peter that by believing in Him is how they had received the remissions of sins and the gift of the Holy Ghost thus they had received eternal life.

So it is as Jesus plainly stated on how we are saved i.e. born again of the Spirit.

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Sinners need to know that Jesus Christ came to deliver them from their bondage to sin and to death and so they can come to Him by believing in Him for eternal life as well as the abundant life of living that reconciled relationship with God through Jesus Christ by looking to the author & finisher of our faith to help us lay aside every weight & sin daily to be fruitful as His disciples while walking in the light in fellowship with the Father & the Son or risk being left behind as in excommunicated from the Marriage Supper in Heaven when the Bridegroom comes, but their spirits will be with the Lord in Heaven awaiting their resurrection after the great tribulation as vessels unto dishonor BUT still in His House.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Any questions?

Hello,
I agree with your summation, However concerning Apostle Peter,

Peter only knew John the Baptist's baptism message at Pentecost and with Cornelius in Acts 10:43 . He actually was quoting John the Baptist in Act 2:38 from the Gospel of Mark 1:4. Peter was also addressing the Jewish population at Pentecost that knew of John the Baptist.

God Bless

Can one believe in Jesus and still hold unto their sin?
Can one receive Him and not repent of sin?

If so, what are they receiving, which can coexist with a love for sin in an unrepentant heart?

Are they receiving eternal life?
Can one receive eternal life and still love sin?

2Pet 3:9; The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

1Pet 3:11; "HE MUST TURN AWAY FROM EVIL AND DO GOOD; HE MUST SEEK PEACE AND PURSUE IT.
2Pet 2:20; For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.
2Pet 2:21; For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them.

What I thought was most interesting is that after one repents and comes to the Lord, and please give chapter and verse if you find it, believers now not the world, no disciple ever repented after coming to Jesus, now why is that one may ask? After all, betrayed him and left him (Matt 26:56) none repented of what they did when Jesus came back! Did they not ever make mistakes??? LOL here is another example (Acts 15:36-41) NOW!!! Later Paul took back Mark (2 Tim 4:11) No I am sorry to have left you behind earlier, no nothing!!

LOL The reason I believe they never repented, is because they knew they would make mistakes, not sin!! SIN is not believing in Jesus, that is sin, and we are to always look at (Phil 4:7-9) Because that is the way Jesus looks at all his people. This scripture is so important!! Because if you are always beating yourself up over one's faults, which of course I have as well, you then will consider yourself unworthy, but Jesus made us worthy!!(1 Thess 5:23-24) So we MOVE Forward in Christ, for looking at the past is where the enemy is, to keep you down. Remember what Jesus told Moses? (Exodus 14:13-15!!)

Just something to consider encouraging my brothers and sisters! This mindset has helped me greatly moving forward in our Jesus, may it help you also to get over yourself, and think and follow after in both word and deed our Lord Jesus! For if our mind is always looking at our faults you can never move ahead, do not turn into a grain of salt by looking back!!(Gen 19:26) Blessing all!

Thank you for sharing but there is pause and thus contention for what you had posted.

The pause here is how did the Jews get their remission of sins in Peter's presentation of the gospel in Acts 2:36-39?

We know that there is only one gospel and so it has to be the same as the one gospel Peter had given to the Gentiles in Acts 10:43-44 which is to believe in Him in order to get that remission of sins. If we read Acts 2:38, we would think either repentance or water baptism was how the Jews got the remission of sins, but when taken in context starting from verse 36 about how these Jews had crucified Jesus Christ in unbelief, and verse 37 reveals the Jews were pricked in their hearts for doing that and had asked what they were to do, which led into Repent in verse 38 as in repent from unbelief by believing in Him is why Peter's gospel to the Jews is the same as the one given to the Gentiles for how they had received the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Ghost by believing in Jesus Christ.

Amen and thank God for his Son Jesus.
Amen.
Can one believe in Jesus and still hold unto their sin?
Can one receive Him and not repent of sin?
Yes, they can BUT because now their bodies is the temple of the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ is in them, they need to trust Him as their Good Shepherd to help them lay aside every weight & sin daily in running that race as His disciples because the eternal consequence will be the loss of rewards of crowns but also becoming a castaway and thus left behind to die but their spirits will be with the Lord in Heaven to wait for their resurrection after the great tribulation as vessels unto dishonor but still in His House, as vessels of wood & earth. Those who do not resist sins after salvation are risking a comeuppance from the Father as He will scourge ( whipping ) every child He receives when they get left behind. see Hebrews 12:1-13 for not running that race and the undeniable risk of becoming a castaway in 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 rather than just losing the rewards of crowns.
If so, what are they receiving, which can coexist with a love for sin in an unrepentant heart?
This is why His disciples were commanded to teach His commandments to newly saved believers in how they are to look to Him as their Good Shepherd and Friend to enable them to follow Him..
Are they receiving eternal life?
Yes.
Can one receive eternal life and still love sin?
Yes since they be sinning and know not what they do. If Gentiles believed it was okay to fornicate and then got saved, then why instruct these Gentile believers to abstain unless they had not been told to repent of this before salvation?

Acts 15:19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

It seems odd that the Gentiles were not asked to repent of those sins before coming to & believing in Jesus Christ only because they need Jesus Christ in them to have the power to live as the sons of God to turn from sin after salvation.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

@God's Truth Do you not see how the Gentiles were not led to repent of the known sins they were in but after they were saved in following Him as His disciples? Since our believing in Him is a manifested work of the Father is why it pleases God to save those that believe in Him & the preaching of the cross.

1 Corinthians 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God..........
.....21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Peter is an apostle to the Lamb, Jesus Christ, and was of those who had to repent of their sins before Jesus would come to the people.

Isaiah 59:20 “The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,” declares the Lord.

Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. <----- Peter pointed out the Jews sin of crucifying Jesus in unbelief.
You say things the Bible doesn't say.

We humans have to repent of our sins, all of our sins, not just if you didn't believe.

They helped get Jesus CRUCIFIED.

The Jews that helped in getting Jesus crucified, they are the ones who were CUT OFF and HARDENED and couldn't understand Jesus to get saved.

They are the ones who did not repent of their sins with John's baptism.

Jesus said they were cut off and hardened and could come to him to get saved AFTER he was lifted up from the earth...crucified.

The Jews who helped get Jesus crucified---THEY HAD TO REPENT FOR HELPING HIM TO GET CRUCIFIED.

They ask Peter plainly, WHAT SHALL WE DO.

Peter tells them plainly TO REPENT OF THEIR SINS.

To repent of sins is the beginning of the GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST.

Any questions?
Jesus tells us exactly how to be a child of God's. John's baptism was the BEGINNING of the GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST.
That means it is Jesus' gospel for us to repent of sins to get saved.
If a person wants to get saved, be a child of God's, an heir, then we have to do exactly what Jesus says to do.
We have to change to that of a little child or we will never enter.
Is someone ready to do that? No? Then you will never enter.
Is someone able to humble themselves?
Are you sorry for your sins? Can you expose them to Jesus and ask for forgiveness?
Are you ready to die to all the sins of the world and live to please Jesus by obeying him?
Jesus says you can't give up, give out, or give in.
He also teaches that we have to have a forgiving heart.
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, he is the Word of God, and we must do exactly what he says to do to get saved, and it is more than just saying you believe.

Peter is an apostle to the Lamb, Jesus Christ, and was of those who had to repent of their sins before Jesus would come to the people.

Isaiah 59:20 “The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,” declares the Lord.

I acknowledged what John the Baptist did, but his water baptism of repentance was for the remission of sins whereas Peter said to the Gentiles plainly that believing in Him is for the remission of sins per Acts 10:43-44 That is how John the Baptist paved the way for the coming of the Lord was by how remission of sins can come about but not by sacrifice as the usual method in Judaism, but by believing in Him is how you had received the remission of sins.

You say things the Bible doesn't say.
Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, he is the Word of God, and we must do exactly what he says to do to get saved, and it is more than just saying you believe.
Yet that is what Jesus said for how we are saved by believing in Him.

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jesus has said a lot for discipleship which is separate from salvation but it is essential for how saved believers are set free from sin's dominion over and in their lives.

John 8:30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

You say before believing in Him for salvation but I say after salvation is when running that race comes about for how the Son shall set saved believers free. With Him in us is how we can live as the sons of God even those who just believe in His name.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

@Jesus_is_LORD

Amen.

Yes, they can BUT because now their bodies is the temple of the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ is in them,
The Father and Jesus do NOT live in someone who has not first repented of their sins and died to the sins of the world.
You wouldn't have someone important come to live with you if you didn't clean your house, how much more do you have to repent of your sins to have the Father and Jesus live in your heart.
they need to trust Him as their Good Shepherd to help them lay aside every weight & sin daily
That is such a motto of false teachers.

in running that race as His disciples because the eternal consequence will be the loss of rewards of crowns but also becoming a castaway and thus left behind to die but their spirits will be with the Lord in Heaven to wait for their resurrection after the great tribulation as vessels unto dishonor but still in His House, as vessels of wood & earth.
The gift, the reward, the inheritance, the treasure, the crown, the promise…it is all eternal life in the kingdom of God.

He does that to those who don't know better. You can't say that no one can know better, because we all can have the finished gospel of Jesus Christ.
Yes since they be sinning and know not what they do. If Gentiles believed it was okay to fornicate and then got saved, then why instruct these Gentile believers to abstain unless they had not been told to repent of this before salvation?

Paul is afraid that some are not saved because they didn’t repent of their sins.

2 Corinthians 12:21 I am afraid that when I come again my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they have indulged.

The GENTILES were being talked INTO DOING THE OLD LAW'S purification works!

They were talked into observing special days and ADHERING TO A SPECIAL DIET and to getting CIRCUMCISED IN THE FLESH. THOSE are the old purification works of the law.

There were Jews talking them into having to do those things!

Paul says if you do ANY OF THOSE THINGS to be JUSTIFIED before God, then Jesus died in vain and you have FALLEN FROM GRACE.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
God saves us now by the New Covenant.

@God's Truth Do you not see how the Gentiles were not led to repent of the known sins they were in but after they were saved in following Him as His disciples?
NO. They had to repent of their sins like all have to do to get saved.
Matthew 28:19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Paul calls it Jews first then Gentiles.
SAME ONE AND ONLY GOSPEL THAT SAVES.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

Romans 2:9 There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile;

Acts 3:26 When God raised up His servant, He sent Him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways."

Acts 13:46 Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: "We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.

Acts 18:6 But when they opposed and insulted him, he shook out his garments and told them, "Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent of it. From now on I will go to the Gentiles."

Paul taught to GO THROUGH Jesus' blood, and he taught that TO THE GENTILES, and the blood is about ATONEMENT FOR SINS.

Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

Ephesians 2:17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.

Acts 13:47 For this is what the Lord has commanded us: "'I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'"

PAUL TAUGHT THE ONE AND ONLY WAY TO BE SAVED, he taught to to the JEWS AND GENTILES, and it is about REPENT OF YOUR SINS and have faith in the blood of Jesus.

Acts 26:23 that the Messiah would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would bring the message of light to his own people and to the Gentiles."

Apollos did the water baptizing for Paul!.

Paul was glad no one was saying that they were saying they were baptized unto him.

Apollos was a helper to Paul and as Paul preached, Apollos did the water baptizing.

Paul found out that some were saying they were baptized unto Apollos.

You are believing and teaching wrong according to false teachers.

Don't you mean John the Baptist and not Peter?
You need to consider more carefully
I even emboldened it and underlined it.

To those who what?
Who did the Redeemer come for?

Those who did what?

Isaiah 59:20 “The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,” declares the Lord.

I acknowledged what John the Baptist did, but his water baptism of repentance was for the remission of sins whereas Peter said to the Gentiles plainly that believing in Him is for the remission of sins per Acts 10:43-44
Cornelius and his whole household WERE ALREADY OBEDIENT TO GOD.

That is how John the Baptist paved the way for the coming of the Lord was by how remission of sins can come about but not by sacrifice as the usual method in Judaism, but by believing in Him is how you had received the remission of sins.

JESUS' GOSPEL BEGINS WITH REPENTING OF YOUR SINS.

1The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;

2As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

3The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

4John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. 5And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
We have to believe that he is the one to obey!!!!!!!!!!

So I wasted ten seconds to answer this post.....There is no repentance taught in Peters gospel? In that ten seconds I pulled one Here....

Acts 2:38

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Yet that is what Jesus said for how we are saved by believing in Him.

Jesus has said a lot for discipleship which is separate from salvation
NO WAY IS DISCIPLESHIP DIFFERENT THAN BEING SAVED AND A FAMILY MEMBER AND FRIEND.

You are given the scriptures and have it explained to you by me with great patience and often, and you refuse Jesus..

We are not blessed, not a disciple, not a family member and friend if we do not do what Jesus says.

Luke 11:28 He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."

Matthew 12:50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."

John 15:14 You are my friends if you do what I command.

John 8:31 Then Jesus said to those Judeans who had believed him, "If you continue to follow my teaching, you are really my disciples

but it is essential for how saved believers are set free from sin's dominion over and in their lives.

You say before believing in Him for salvation but I say after salvation is when running that race comes about for how the Son shall set saved believers free. With Him in us is how we can live as the sons of God even those who just believe in His name.
You were sold to the teachings of Luther and Calvin and Pentecostal, etc, about faith alone, and then you ran with it and found ways to justify it by changing the words in the Bible and by not believing the truth. You are ensnared to preach faith alone and that that is the only thing to do to get saved.

You preach against Jesus who came and showed us the way.

@GodB4Us let us assume for a moment that what your saying is true.
Let's just assume it is true. If this is the case,

what is the comfort that it brings you, to know that you can come to Jesus and still hold unto your sins?

Now let's imagine that what you are saying is wrong. What would be your concern or
worry to find out that one had to repent before coming to Christ, not saying be perfect,
but make a decision to turn from sin. What would be your worry or concern, if you were
wrong in your point?

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. <-- Note the call to repent is how they receive the remission of sins.
False, they had to respond to the call to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins.

Believing the gospel message produces a response to repent and be baptized.

Acts 2:38

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

What did the Jews repent of?

In verse 36 Peter told them they crucified Jesus and what did the Jews crucified Him for? That He was blaspheming because He said He is God. So they did not believe Jesus is God and they crucified Him for it in unbelief.

In verse 37 is the response of those Jews that had crucified Him in unbelief as they were pricked in their hearts for crucifying Jesus in unbelief.

So verse 38 is what that call to repent from? Unbelief by believing in Him and it is connected to getting the remission of sins. The significance cannot be missed because there is only one gospel and Peter said plainly in Acts 10:43-44 on how the Gentiles were to get the remission of sins and that was by believing in Him as prophesied and sure enough they got the Holy Ghost as the believing Jews had done.

@Jesus_is_LORD

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

What commandments are we to keep in order to get the Comforter, aka the Spirit of truth? Don't you think Jesus would cite them in relations to this promise in keeping His commandments? Let's go back and see those commandments.

John 14:1Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. <----- Do you believe Him when He said that?
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
<----- Do you believe Him when He said that?

So to believe Him is the repeated commandment over and over again in order to get the Holy Ghost.

Do you see any repentance of sins first in any of that litany of commandments? I don't.

False, they had to respond to the call to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins.

Believing the gospel message produces a response to repent and be baptized.

So is there only one gospel? The same one to the Jews as it is to the Gentiles? Yes. Then read plainly how the Gentiles were to receive their remission of sins as prophesied.

Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
