For the LORD spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying: "Do not say, 'A conspiracy,' Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, Nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled. Isaiah 8:11-12 NKJV

After Election Day of 2020 (just eight months ago!), you probably heard more than a few pundits, political activists, comedians, and even some of your friends state that we’re either back on the right track or that our days as a great nation are numbered. For many, the results of the election brought either crippling fear or unrestrained elation.

For the Christian, however, the election results should neither shake nor confirm his belief that no matter who leads our country, God is and always will be on the throne and is still in complete control. That is why His message, “Nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” Applies as much today as it did in Isaiah’s time.

Do you ever find yourself felling fearful for your nation’s future—or even where it is today? Don’t forget: God’s in control. He always has been, and He always will be !

Prayer: Sovereign God, every time I read or watch the news, I can’t help but think that the world I live in is very quickly coming unraveled. Remind me daily that no matter how bad things look, You are in complete Control.

This is a copied thread from a Devotional that seemed to give some consternation to some Brothers in Christ when they first saw it. A Brother in Christ suggested moving the thread to where a discussion could be had on it, and as the originator of the thread I agreed to copy it so as to not disrupt the Devotional. Thereby providing a more appropriate Forum for having this discussion. I will remove the original postings from the Devotional thread one, and allow a link showing this location, so that anyone who might be interested in engaging in conversation may do so.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

I realize this is a devotional but I need you to show, where in the bible does it say that God is in control in the Earth....If it does not say so, you are probably wrong.

Was God in control in the garden of eden? If so, why did sin occur in the most perfect place humans ever lived?

Dear Brothers,
I wonder if both of you believe that God has a purpose to allowing everything that is happening in the World, and directs as needed to have His will done? Too often humanity sees Control as signifying God dictating every signal action, act of will, word spoken etc. that occurs. This is not what is meant by this Devotional, and not contrary to "Free will", which I'm assuming you my brothers are considering when you read the word "Control".
For me when "Control" is used it reminds me of the usage of Scripture of "foundation of the World...", "Revelation", "Authority", "Do not fear for I Am with you" etc. and not the type most view that would negate free will.

I hope this eases your minds as it pertains to the title of this devotional, and its meaning.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Yes, that was my point. God has control of what He can control, and He can control a whole bunch. But He abides by free will, so of course He cant control us, and because we were in the equation, stuff outside His will happen. He works well with the results of our own bad decisions though, and He is in control "if" we truly let Him be in control.

Rev_13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Can you post a passage of God telling us we have free will? "If it does not say so, you are probably wrong."

Reba You can start here....If you will look you will find many more verses that point out mans free will.

Galatians 5:13
13 For, brothers, you were called to be free. Only do not let that freedom become an excuse for allowing your old nature to have its way. Instead, serve one another in love.

John 7:17
17 If anyone wants to do his will, he will know whether my teaching is from God or I speak on my own.

Joshua 24:15

15 If it seems bad to you to serve Adonai, then choose today whom you are going to serve! Will it be the gods your ancestors served beyond the River? or the gods of the Emori, in whose land you are living? As for me and my household, we will serve Adonai!”

Mark 8:34

34 Then Yeshua called the crowd and his talmidim to him and told them, “If anyone wants to come after me, let him say ‘No’ to himself, take up his execution-stake, and keep following me.

Leviticus 18:5
5 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the Lord.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 - I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

Genesis 2:16-17 - And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

James 1:13-16 - Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Galatians 5:16-17 - This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

2 Timothy 2:26 - And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Romans 10:9-10 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Psalms 37:23 - The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

Proverbs 16:1 - The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.

Mark 8:34 - And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

1 Timothy 2:4 - Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Dear Brothers,
I have but one question to ask.

Has God chosen to relinquish control?

Galatians 5:13

Gal 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another
Gal 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

To me Gal 5: 13 is speaking of being free of the bondage of our old lives. We are free in Him because He called us.

John 7:17
17 If anyone wants to do his will, he will know whether my teaching is from God or I speak on my own.

Joh 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
Joh 7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

This is clearly speaking of God's will
Joshua 24:15

Joshua is a longer reply i will be back to it when i have more time

Mark 8:34

34 Then Yeshua called the crowd and his talmidim to him and told them, “If anyone wants to come after me, let him say ‘No’ to himself, take up his execution-stake, and keep following me.
Jesus is speaking to those who already are His

LOL No Nick...God has not relinquished control...but He did make us responsible for this planet...If we are going to rule with Him through eternity, where do you think we get the training to do so? Start with one planet then grow into ruling a universe...As a child, you were responsible to make your bed, then keep your room clean, then pick up after yourself in the whole house, then you got a job and were responsible for that, then a family and your own house, etc...Now you're responsible and in control of your area of this world...Next....

Reba You want to read the entire verses...You see the word "if" as in "if you will" That means YOU choose to or not. Keep reading when you get time and do it with the help of the Holy Spirit. Not just intellect

So you've never sinned since becoming a Christian?
If you did sin, was that God's will? .. or yours?

1Tim 2:3; This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

If God desires all men to be saved, why aren't they?
