Work on the inner you (3)
'... the inward man is being renewed day by day.' 2 Corinthians 4:16
Do you remember way back in the summer when you were desperate to cram yourself into that bathing cozzie? It was goodbye cheesy Doritos, hello celery, right? To get that beautiful beach bod, you knew you had to watch what you pushed through your mouth. Well, it's the same with inner beauty. To be sizzling on the inside you need to watch what goes into your mind. If you keep allowing your mind to pig out on junk like gossip, back-biting, slanging and banging, it won't be long before you start to look spiritually flabby.
So, how do you stay buff on the inside? First of all, we need to check out which areas we've let get a bit out of shape. This might mean spending some alone-time with God and asking him to pin-point some areas of lardiness.
Confession is like a detox - good for clearing out those sin-toxins.
Second, we need to change our habits. A healthy eating plan involves changing habits, not cutting out food full-stop. Nobody is asking you to be Mother Teresa, but changing some of your habits will help you. Could you cut out the odd half hour of Hollyoaks and pray instead? Probably.
Finally, feed on something healthy. An orange has more vitamin C than a creme egg; the Bible has more vitamin C than Heat magazine. You do the math.
