cursing as you call it.. if you mean boring, worn out, meaningless swear-words, they are sweeter to my ears that the filth than the lies and profane rot that professing Christians fling around at each other.

I understand what you are saying @Br. Bear...........

Until of course you hear your little children repeating those words.

Also rather than using the curse words .......try replacing them with saying the actual meaning of the words.......Im sure then they wont sound so sweet or meaningless.

Example: You will stress about picking up a bad habit of cursing, with this group of unsaved people. So you avoid associating with them. Next day they all die in a car accident. You sit in your room overly joyed that you did.... not.... pick.... up.... a bad habit.

Straining a gnat and swallowing a camel!!

I can relate to that @KingJ but something recently stopped me in my tracks.
There is a huge amount of swearing/cursing within my work environment. Anything to do with the Lord is alien to most.
Recently I responded to someone with an answer that was less than wholesome......everyone laughed and one of my staff team said "we are starting to corrupt her" which as it sunk in was not funny at all. A very bad testimony of my faith.

I think this is an example of how we as Christians can slip at times without even planning to.

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Abstain from all appearance of evil.

1 Thessalonians 5:21-22

Good morning @At Peace
Are you saying all Amish are unsaved?
Surely it is not right to cast such a judgement.
Only the Lord knows an individuals heart.
One's judgement isn't known till after the final judgement.
Ever examined the ways of the Amish?
Check out "Rumspringa" on wikipedia.

Greetings KingJ,

i was replying previously and didn't get to finish it all off but then I realised also that I think you missed the point of what I had said, being in response to....

I would say to the unsaved that they should not be sin focused. They should focus on Jesus.

I replied...

so if we can roll back and take it from there...

why should they focus on Jesus?
Does sin have anything to do with it? If so, why? And why then focus on Jesus? If not, then why focus on Jesus?

that is what i was getting at. Sorry I am not all that clear sometimes.

I agree that 'they' should not be focussed on sin, so please don't misunderstand me.

And then, turning the table, we see those who call themselves Christians spending at least part of their time focussed on (their) sin. And that is OK and the results of after they "focus" on Jesus?? So, to confuse matters completely, we say to the unsaved to not focus on sin, or at least, that they shouldn't, but when they 'get saved' they can and will and should focus on sin to some degree or another, or, at least if they do, it is OK because Jesus took all the sin away as a result of focussing on Him?

come to think of it, why is anyone so wrapped up about sin in the first place that it predominates their thinking and communication with others?
It seems like it has become an anchor to some who would move forward if they could get their eyes of the whole subject of sin?....

and focus on Jesus

Thank you @Br. Bear for making this decision. It will also allow me time as the OP to reflect on the abundance of responses.

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

Galatians 5 13:15

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Galatians 5:25-26

I would also like to thank all you brothers in Lord for taking time to answer this thread, I do not often post new threads in Bible Study leaving that more fitly to you brothers. However, this has been very interesting and despite some of the disagreements expressed, it has opened my heart and mind to further personal study.
Praise the Lord!

So thank you @B-A-C @At Peace @Christ4Ever @KingJ @Born Again 2004 @Curtis @Hekuran @yeshuaislord @BLACKSHEEP @D_Martin

Sorry if Ive missed anyone
