Well first of all i'd like to thank everyone who has taken the time to view this thread. i would also like you to know that i have spent alot of time on this issue and i have struggled with trying to understand it and this is what i have come to on the topic. So the question is can we lose our salvation?
1 Cor. 9:24-27 We have to beat our bodies to train ourselves to do what is right 10:12-13 if we truely want to do the Lord's will He will give us the strength to do so, if we choose not we are without excuse(this is considered premeditated sin).
Phili. 4:13 God gives us the strength to do anything (through Him we can overcome sin). James 1:14-15 We have the choice to sin or obey God. 1John 3:6 Our walk is proof of our salvation or proof that we need it. Romans 7:14-25 Paul is speaking of non deliberate sin. Gal. 5:16-18 if we live by the spirit we will walk in it. Romans 10:9-10 confess and you will be saved.
When we come to Christ we are called to repent and "repent" means to change(We are truely sorry for our sins so we turn from our old ways and become new). 2nd, coming to Christ in the beginning we may suffer from certain sins but through the Holy Spirit we change, we must and are expected to if we claim to walk with Christ. yet if we intentionally continue to sin we are not truely sorry and if we are not truely sorry how can we expect to be truely forgiven, we must ask for forgiveness and change.3rd if we have been saved, walked the holy life and then backslide, whats going on! is our salvation questionable ?do we want to live for Christ or ourselves Heb. 6:4-6 and 10:26-27 we cannot straddle the fence, of course it's always hard but we must chose, our lives or Christ's you cant have both. Christ died to save us from sin, not so we could sin and get away with it

So who's actions are you basing salvation on? the things you mention in your post can be used to determine our devotion to Christ but not Christ's devotion to us.
Just look at what Paul said to the believers at Colosse.

For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and by him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of his blood on the cross. This includes you who were once so far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions, *yet now he has brought you back as his friends. He has done this through his death on the cross in his own human body. As a result, he has brought you into the very presence of God, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. But you must continue to believe this truth and stand in it firmly. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed by God to proclaim it.

Kindly correct me if I am wrong brother Jiggyfly. I read what Paul says and to me it speaks this. If I, Faithful Son start doubting my Salvation, the gift I receive, then it becomes lost to me. Am I wrong with that understanding?

Sometimes I commit sin, say a foul word, do something questionable and I can help it, but I sometimes let the thoughts run, the thoughts that ask, am I truly saved?

By God's Grace that doesn't happen as often as it could, but I believe it is required of us to actually keep believing and holding on to the gift we received.

God bless

On this topic my intensions are not to offend anyone and in no way whatsoever am i stating a fact this is my oppinion many agree and many do not and that is fine i am not here to argue this with anyone. This is what i believe and feel strongly about and yes there is nothing we can do to gain our salvation it is all through our Lord Jesus Christ. So thankyou for taking the time to read this thread and respond to it. I am very far from knowing everything so whatever insight one may have on this issue is very much appreciated. So once again thankyou and may God bless you in Christ's love

Salvation cannot be lost

Christ died over 2000 years ago, but when he did, he already knew us. He knew the sins we would commit. As saved sinners, saved by his grace, why would Christ wash away only the sins up to the point that we asked for his acceptance of our souls into heaven. We'd have to keep asking. We are forgiven and saved from ourselves -past, present, and future. I agree with the statement that it is not ok to intentionally continue sinning (to whom much is given much is expected). However, the chastizing we may recieve from God for not obeying does not include the revocation of our salvation.....just perhaps a missed opportunity for further blessing.

Hey Faithful Son, the terms "salvation" and " saved" both have various meanings withing the Christian faith today. I normally limit commenting on this unless they are clearly defined as to their meaning.

Concerning Colossians 1, I believe Paul is stating that Christ work on the cross has made everyone holy and blameless before Father and that if we add any requisites to Christ's work on the cross for gaining or maintaining our standing with Father then we simply are failing to trust in what Christ has already done. I find that the teaching of any additional requisite only cause religious pride. Very simply, either it is a work by grace or it is not.

You see, self can have no glory or part in our redemption, it is all because of God. This is why Jesus commanded us to deny self, not so we could somehow achieve some level of righteousness or good but rather so we would stop trying and accept the fact that Christ did what no one else could. Essentially it is the removal of any rebellion to God's will and purpose.

Thanks for clarifying brother. I love the part where you said we are to accept that only Christ was able to do what no one else could and we have to accept it.

God bless you.

"..none can remove them from His hand."

" believe with your heart, confess with your mouth.."

In other words.. your saved ..or not saved. Your not unsaved during the times of questioning. Then resaved when your feeling on top of the world in your faith.

Three strikes your out

God is not a man therefore He is not subject to our limitations,God was not created in our image but we were created in His image. Many within the church walls are disapointed to see others not walking according to the standard, and I see some even become bitter at backsliders. But I dont believe God is in need of any enforcers keeping guard over His abundant supluses of mercies. Is anybody really serious to think that to receive mercy even in an ungreatful state is robbery? Are we to assume that the backslider is getting over on God?If Peter a mere man was told to forgive beyond numbers, then how much more does God forgive those who are back slidden? From personal experiences I have seen how God delights in showing mercy especially to the scoundrel, there is more hope for a live dog than a dead lion, and God is God also to the backslider and He has made provision to safeguard those weak in the faith. Our job is not to investigate how saved a person is but rather let us who are spiritual come alongside the backsliden and make a consistent plead rooted in Christ.Romans11:33-36. This is warfare and we who are spiritual must be willing to jump into the flames to help rescue the backslidden Amen..
