'The Bride of the Lamb' and 'The Church which is His (Christ's) Body'

Hello @Hitch,

What is it in my posts that has produced this response from you? :)

As regards what you say in your response above, I would ask you, 'Is Israel now a redeemed nation?' Is Israel now fulfilling God's purpose for it, by being a Kingdom of Priests unto God among the nations? Has Abraham received the promises made unto Him? Have any of those who are spoken of as having died not having received the promises made to them in the letter to the Hebrews (Hebrews 11:13), now so blessed as to have entered into them? No!

There is much yet to be fulfilled, and this will come to pass in a time of God's choosing: for many it will require resurrection from the dead.

Thank you

'Is Israel now a redeemed nation?

Did Jesus come to gather the lost sheep of Israel ? Did Jesus offer His own blood for ALL the Father had given Him ? Did He loose any?

Is Israel now fulfilling God's purpose for it, by being a Kingdom of Priests unto God among the nations?

Certainly , the nation Christ gave the kingdom, the nation that bears the fruit of it, the Israel of God that has nothing to do with blood lines.

Has Abraham received the promises made unto Him

his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied:

68“Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,

because He has visited and redeemed His people.

69He has raised up a horn of salvation for us

in the house of His servant David,

70as He spoke through His holy prophets,

those of ages past,

71salvation from our enemies

and from the hand of all who hate us,

72to show mercy to our fathers

and to remember His holy covenant,

73the oath He swore to our father Abraham,

to grant us 74deliverance from hostile hands,

that we may serve Him without fear,

75in holiness and righteousness before Him

all the days of our lives.

Of course , the whole world is blessed through Abe in Christ and this blessing is eternal, heavenly , that which Abe sought.

There is much yet to be fulfilled, but Jesus said "it is finished'

And thousands are still waiting for Messiah. They missed Him. Much like you waiting for the restoration of Israel, missed the entire point and will never find fulfillment outside Christ and the Church.

Hello @Hitch,

With respect, there is no question of ignoring anything, so please do not assume that. There is no need to introduce insult and insinuation into this discussion. For we all desire to be true to the word of God.

You ask me the question 'Who has come to Sion?' in relation to Hebrews 12:22-24:-

'But ye are come unto mount Sion,
and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem,
and to an innumerable company of angels,
To the general assembly and church of the firstborn,
which are written in heaven,
and to God the Judge of all,
and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant,
and to the blood of sprinkling,
that speaketh better things than that of Abel.'

Those to whom the Author wrote were Hebrew believers, the believing remnant of Israel.

So this doesnt apply to the church ?
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Im wont bother with that nonsense, you're still stuck with the fact that 'we have come' ,,,to the heavenly city.

Hello again, @Hitch,

- There is the earthly calling which all Israel shares - 'the wife' (Revelation 19) - the 'sand' of Genesis 13:16.
- There is the heavenly calling of an elect remnant of Israel which is 'The Bride' (Revelation 21:9) - the 'stars' of Genesis 15:5.
- There is the calling of the Church which is the body of Christ (ie., the Mystery) - (Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 & 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon)

* These have different hopes, different promises, and different destinies.

Thank you

Chris
There is no truth in any of this .
All who are called are called in Christ , through the same means and sacrifice.
Such divisions are not heavenly inspired and are contrary to basic NT doctrine and teaching, which is why Darby&Co had to make so much up.

'Husbands, love your wives,
even as Christ also loved the church,
and gave Hmself for it;
That He might sanctify and cleanse it
with the washing of water by the word,
That He might present it to Himself a glorious church,
not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing;
but that it should be holy and without blemish.'
(Eph 5:25-27)

Hello @Hitch,

I disagree with the writer that this has anything to do with baptism with water. For here, in this practical section of Paul's epistle, where relationships are being considered, Paul is using the love of Christ for the church to illustrate the love which the husband should have for his wife. The 'washing' is done by the application of the word of God to heart and mind.

Arguing with me is one thing, its sad but in this case you're up against not only Henry and Calvin , but all the Reformers.

Hello @Hitch,

Thank you for your posts. Though any further responses from me would appear to be futile.

Within the love of Christ Jesus

'All scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable -
.. for doctrine,
.... for reproof,
...... for correction,
........ for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect,
throughly furnished unto all good works.'
(2Ti 3:16)

Hello @Hitch,

I had missed this entry, so must respond for, though all Scripture is 'for' us, not all Scripture is 'about' us. We need to try the things that differ. We can make application, and rejoice in what we read, but the Church which is the Body of Christ cannot be said to have come to mount Zion, but to Christ in all His fulness. The example made for comparison between coming to mount Sinai, and coming to mount Zion has no application to the Church which is the Body of Christ, for whom the former had no place.

You need to look at the address on the envelope. The epistle to the Hebrews was written to the believing remnant of Israel, so has particular reference to them, though all is for our learning.

Its a sad thing you hold to a system that requires ,not only your disregard for the Reformers , but very often for you to be diametrically opposed to Scripture.

'No place' The city is the place God lives with His people, Abe's seed. UI believe I mentioned elsewhere , your system also forces you to vey often miss the forest for the trees.

Hello @Hitch,

You hold too much store by 'the system' that you call it. Dispensationalism for me is a means to an end, and that end is to know Christ in all His fulness. I am not here to defend dispensationalism, but to share the word of God concerning Christ, as my Saviour, Lord and Head, and to glorify His Name.

I am grateful for the teaching that I have received, and thank God for those whom he equipped to instruct me, by audio and the written word. However, each word of man must be brought to the written word of God for confirmation, and that is what I have done in relation to the teachings I have received, so I have no concerns concerning what I have been taught, for the word of God itself has confirmed it.

Thank you
