Seeds

Before you go any farther in your attempt to pollute the body of Christ with the fruit of the fleshly, let's examine again what seeds can and cannot bring forth.

You keep quoting this. Do you have scripture for it?

Greetings,

would this cover it?

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1John 3:9

or

We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. 1John 5:18

Bless you ....><>

Hehe... well technically neither of those verses say anything about fruit.

This could quickly turn into a "King James" vs all other translations thing here.

MY Bible says...

1 Jn 3:9; No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

The word practices is left out of KingJames

Also I notice two verses before you second reference... it says...

1 Jn 5:16; If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask and God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death; I do not say that he should make request for this.
1 Jn 5:17; All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death.
1 Jn 5:18; We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

Apparently it is possible even in this passage for Christians to sin.

Now before we say KingJames is "wrong"... I don't think it is. I think people have forgotten "old english".

In old English the "th" suffix denote singular multiple. (one person - more than once)
So in reality this verse says the same thing most modern versions say.

1 Jn 3:9; Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

This do"th" Could be translated this way.

...is born of God (does not commit many|multiple) sins.... Before you say I'm committing heresy and changing the Bible..
Here are some other versions.

(AMPC) No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually] practices sin, for God's nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine *****, remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God.
(AMPC+) No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and N1habitually] practices sin, for God's nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine *****, remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God.
(ASV) Whosoever is begotten of God doeth no sin, because his seed abideth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is begotten of God.
(CSB) Everyone who has been born of God does not sin, because his seed remains in him; he is not able to sin, because he has been born of God.
(ESV) No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.
(GNB) Those who are children of God do not continue to sin, for God's very nature is in them; and because God is their Father, they cannot continue to sin.
(GW) Those who have been born from God don't live sinful lives. What God has said lives in them, and they can't live sinful lives. They have been born from God.
(HCSB) Everyone who has been born of God does not sin, because His seed remains in him; he is not able to sin, because he has been born of God.
(KJV) Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
(MKJV) Everyone who has been born of God does not commit sin, because His seed remains in him, and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
(MSG) People conceived and brought into life by God don't make a practice of sin. How could they? God's seed is deep within them, making them who they are. It's not in the nature of the God-begotten to practice and parade sin.
(NAS77) No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
(NASB) No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
(NIrV) Those who are born again because of what God has done will not keep on sinning. God's very nature remains in them. They can't go on sinning. They have been born again because of what God has done.
(NIV) No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.
(NLT) Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God.
(RV) Whosoever is begotten of God doeth no sin, because his seed abideth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is begotten of God.

Also if Christians can't sin... what is your take on post #17 ?

Thank you B-A-C for your explanation of the troublesome English language (tongue)

Greetings once more,

do you mean something like this?

My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you, Galatians 4:19

Bless you ....><>

1 John 3;9-10 does the job perfectly..."Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

You posit that the sinning above must be habitual or practiced continuously. But that denies the impossibility of grape vines bringing forth figs.
One piece of fruit manifests the progenitor.

Which versions accommodate more disobedience to God?
