Looking for a strong walk with my Lord

The Mark 12:28 verse is a great verse. It even further tells us that we need to do the things that Jesus commanded. How do we love God with all our mind an soul, if we are not doing what his Word (Jesus) commanded us to do, Obeying is what we are suppose to do. Those other people giving their lives for the Jesus, is the greatest love they can show (John 15:13). So if they can give their lives we can too. By laying down our wants and desires, to actually follow the things Jesus commanded us to do. He says "whosoever" that's a strong word, it pretty much tells us he is talking to all of us. We all fall under the heading WHOSOEVER. "Whosoever of you, who does not forsake everything he hath, he cannot be my disciple" (Luke 14:33) Remember Christians and disciples are the same thing. (Acts 11:26) Hope this finds you well.

The greatest thing is that when we are born again, we have new desires and a new heart, and we have the Holy Spirit to guide us! Yes we must be obedient, but our works of faith proceed from a pure heart that has been cleansed by the blood of Christ and is guided by the Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 8:10
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
after those days, declares the Lord:
I will put my laws into their minds,
and write them on their hearts,
and I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.
11And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor
and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’
for they shall all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest.

Yes, his laws are his commands. I think you were trying to put up a verse that changed that, but you gave one that supported it..

It would appears that all verses quoted refer back to the essence of what Jesus wants His people to do and that is to extend love to one another and in doing so all the other commandments would be an extension of that love, for if you love your neighbor you will not steal from them or attempt to break up another's relationship. With love comes respect for others. But it appears many times in our society we tend to put up restrictions on love. If you're not the right size, race, economic status, political party etc you may not be entitled to that unconditional love. May hope and prayer is that as we move into a New Year we move into a more Jesus like mindset. Happy Blessed New Year to all.

So I see because this particular person was not obedient in following instructions he was banned. But I was also curious about the fact that others had been invited previously and refused to attend. Was this because they too refused to follow the directive for this wedding? The message thereby being that all are invited by the Lord to be a part of the family of God but many refuse because they are unwilling to follow God's commands. I am very interested in reading these additional commands. I feel no threat or concern with providing you my email because I truly believe that your intentions are sincere in guiding me as attempt to have a closer walk with God. Thank you once again for taking the time to clarify scriptures for me.

Though I or any one else share their application of scripture with you, you should always rely on the Lord Jesus Christ to confirm the application given to you.

As it is, the one without the wedding garment is an example of engaging in any dead religious work that denies Him as in voiding faith in Him which I believe is the wedding garment. There are many believers that are saved but err in thinking they are not saved yet for why they are even there to be cast out for not having faith that they are saved.

Jesus is judging His House first at the pre great trib rapture event ( 1 Peter 4:17-19 ) and so any former believer or believer found in unrepentant iniquity at the time of His appearing, will be left behind to be resurrected later after the great tribulation as vessels unto dishonor but still in His House ( 2 Timothy 2:18-21 ) because He will lose nothing of all the Father has given Him per John 6:39-40

As for those refusing to attend, you can see the same message in Luke 14:15-37 where those invited made excuses not to attend in favor of everyday life and Jesus expounds on that parable to the multitude that the cost of discipleship is not about giving everything up and your loved ones too while living on earth, but being will to give everything up and your loved ones too when the Bridegroom comes in leaving the earth to the Marriage Supper above.

Jesus warned in Luke 21:33-36 how some believers will be overcharged by the cares of this life that they will be snared to not want to leave when the Bridegroom comes.

Jesus gives that same warning in Luke 17:26-34 in regards to Lot's wife as you may remember that she looked back because she loved her life in the city that was being destroyed.

That is why we are not to treasure anything on the earth but set our hearts on the things above where no thief can steal nor moth and rust can corrupt. I definitely need His help to be willing to go without worrying about anything nor any one I leave behind since they will be in His care if they are left behind and as for things; they will be destroyed anyway.

If you have any questions, hopefully, I shall be around, Lord be willing, to share further by His grace & by His help. If not, you can always ask him in prayer for wisdom in understanding His words. James 1:5 & Hebrews 4:12-16

I so appreciate the input I have been getting. Presently I am doing what I can to move out of God's way over my life. Towards that effort I am attempting to get a better understanding of His word for His people. I am in awe of how God is moving in my life by providing support through such knowledgeable believers. While many of you have slightly differing interpretations the overall message is clear. I appreciate you and others for availing yourselves to me as I strive to understand God's word.

1 John 2:20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. 21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth...…….25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. 26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. 27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. 28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

BTW You do not have to get out of God's way for understanding His words to His people when He is in you and will guide you in the way you ought to go. All He asks from you is to trust Him as your Good Shepherd as you have done in trusting Him as your Savior that you are saved. Believe Him to be just as personal to you as your Good Shepherd because of this promise below.

Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

His promise is that those who seek, shall find, and that also covers understanding His words.

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

As for interpretation of scripture, there can be no private interpretation of scripture; the meaning is there for example that person invited not wearing his wedding garment. I believe the message is that faith in Him is the wedding garment, but there are different ways to "apply" that to our lives like what voids faith in Him. The example of religious dead works that deny Him thus voiding faith is just one "application" for how a believer can be without his wedding garment.

Romans 4:13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: 15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

I believe the wedding garment is our faith in Him but you have to confirm that with Him if that be so. don't take my word for it. The same goes for how I applied His words to mean in our walk with Him. He is your Good Shepherd as He is for me.

Faith is the key. Maintaining faith is the struggle in the face of adversity. But that's when I go to the word and those wiser than me for direction and clarification. I've seen evidence of the truth of faith both in others and my own life, but being human I have my strong days and my weak days, but I am grateful that God provides for me in my weakness.

I've had and interesting discussion with a member here about truly following the commands of Jesus. One command in particular has me in a quandary. It was brought to my attention that through Matthew 6: 1-34 the word indicates that prayers should be brought to God in secret and that pastors who pray are not following the teachings of Jesus. I have research several scriptures on praying and that point has been brought up a few times. But I attribute it to the Pharisees and scribes of the time being more about attention to themselves and less to God and I question whether this commands still holds true to many of our present church leaders the question is: are they being disobedient to the word of God, and if so should we be following such leaders?
Acts 16:25 says: at midnight Paul & Silas were praying and singing hymns to God and prisoners were listening to them. 1Corinthians 14:16 says if you give thanks in your spirit how can anyone in the position of an outsider say "Amen" to thanksgiving when he does not know what you are saying.
Romans 10:17 says, Faith comes from hearing and hearing through the word of Christ.
I found additional scriptures that appear to advocate open prayer. I could be wrong and would appreciate the thoughts of others on how we and or our pastoral leaders should pray. Should most prayers be done in secret?

I would say you have a good head on your shoulders and concur with your thoughts on prayer

Chad, im glad you brought up the blood of Christ.

Over this past year, i have noticed, there has been very little mention of the blood. I just find it disturbing. (The churches ive been to)

Prayer is something that is both expressing loudly, and being quiet.

There is a time for each.

Prayer in of itself is talking with God. Or praising God, or listening to God. Communication with God.

It would be difficult , if you were suddenly filled with the Holy Spirit as Elizabeth was, to be quiet in the presence of Jesus.

I agree, there is a time to quietly go into your prayer closet and communicate directly with God and then there is a time to be loud and shout out your prayers. As long as your heart is about getting closer to God and not drawing attention to yourself. My interest is to do what is right and proper before God.
