Justified

In His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
— Romans 3:25–26

"Justification" is an often-used word in the Christian vocabulary that carries great meaning. It is a word that declares the rightness of something—not symbolically or potentially, but actually.
The Bible says that when I come to Christ and ask Him to forgive my sin, recognizing that He died in my place and took the penalty that I should have taken, then I have been justified.

One way to think of the word, "justification," is "just as if it never happened." When I come to Christ and ask His forgiveness, He says, "You are justified." That is, "just as if it never had happened." It is incredible to think about.

Sometimes guilt from the past can plague you. The devil may whisper, "Do you remember what you did? Do you remember that sin you committed 23 years ago?"

But you can say, "I am justified—just as if it never happened." Only God makes that possible. As Psalm 103 says, "He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us (verses 10–12). That's a long way!

Corrie ten Boom used to say. "God has taken our sin and thrown it into the sea of forgetfulness and posted a sign that says, 'No fishing allowed.' " You are justified. Just as if it never had happened.

Hi Ncdataman,

You said: "The Bible says that when I come to Christ and ask Him to forgive my sin, recognizing that He died in my place and took the penalty that I should have taken, then I have been justified"

Since you used sin (singular), are you indicating that you do the same thing, asking for forgiveness, for each sin you continue to commit in your life? Is your justification predicated on bringing each sin to Christ?
Thanks

Yes I am Brother, being a Christian does not stop you from sinning nor does it make you immune from it. If we are having a daily talks with God, asking for forgiveness should be part of our regular prayer life. I'm not saying that your salvation is at stake based on your daily or weekly asking for forgiveness.

O.K. my friend and my brother.
But, I will leave you with this: I am not saying you but, I know of individuals that believe that they must go to God daily and ask for forgiveness and or in bondage to it. If they miss a sin or miss a day or worse longer, they feel unclean and essentially unsaved until they clear the slate on their next attempt.
I guess you can do it out of respect or reverance but, for me, and I speak for only myself,if you do it out of necessity, the very act of continuing to ask forgivenessis is sinful. I don't suggest to know what God would say but from what the bible teaches me, one who does this, is not living under grace.
Paraphrasing: " It is by faith through grace that you are saved, it is a gift from God and not by your works". It certainly leads me to think that God would say something like: "Why do you continuely come to Me for what I have already done through my son. I did say that His death was for the forgiveness of man and that I would look at your sin no more.

I agree that people can focus too much on the act of asking for forgiveness, that is something I see pretty often. However I don't believe that God is ever angry at us asking for His forgiveness, we are sinners, plain and simple. Asking one time for God's forgiveness does not attone for every sin the rest of you life. I don't believe our life should be spent writing down every sin, we would never get anything done for the Lord, However as a part of a heathly prayer life asking for God's blessings, grace and forgiveness should be a part of it.

Thanks for you imput my brother.

In Christ,

NC

Yes my brother, God is no longer at war with man, He's not even mad at us.
God says he is Spirit and we must worship Him in Spirit and truth. I am not sure exactly how but, Spiritually we are with him already and someday we will be together for eternity and we will remember these converations and worhip of Him!
Blessings
