I'm reading the book of John and I stand here puzzled because the verses are contradicting eachother. Trying to figure this out. Somebody please correct me if I'm interpreting this wrong.

Read . John 1:29-30...

John (the baptist) recognizes Jesus walking towards him and brings attention to him "Look, the Lamb of God".

Then read John 1:31 ..

Says that John (the baptist) didn't know him and the reason he came baptizing with water was to reveal him to Isreal.

Now this is where I stand confused..

Read John 1:32-33

John (the baptist) pretty much says that he would not have known him (jesus the lamb of god), if it wasn't for the spirit of god descending on him like a dove.

Question: So how then how did he spot Jesus walking toward him?? (John1:29) if the spirit hadn't decended on him yet? Because St. Mathew states AT THAT MOMENT heaven opened and the spirit descended on him like a dove. (Mathew 3:16-17) And also in Mathew John the Baptist states that he needs to be baptized by jesus (John 3:14) so he obviously knew who he was without the spirit of god descending on him like a dove.

Somebody help.

Maybe the spirit was slowly descending on Jesus as he was walking toward John. AT THAT MOMENT when he was baptized it reached him and heaven opened up and the voice came down from Heaven.

That is the only way I could see these different gospels connecting with one another. Mathew states at that moment the spirit descended on him like a dove but maybe after 2000 years the words have changed quite a bit. who knows..

John (the baptist)only knew a dove on him ...so John (the baptist) have not known him (jesus the lamb of god), if John (the baptist) didn't see a dove on whom

Context matters. If you read the passage it is clear the statement made by John the Baptist is a testimony and eyewitness account of the revelation given to him concerning Jesus. He was describing the revelation and what he saw to an un-named audience. There is no contradiction in the passage.

John the Baptist Denies Being the Christ

19Now this was John's testimony when the Jews of Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was. 20He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, "I am not the Christ.[g]" 21They asked him, "Then who are you? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" He answered, "No." 22Finally they said, "Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?" 23John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, "I am the voice of one calling in the desert, 'Make straight the way for the Lord.' "[h]

24Now some Pharisees who had been sent 25questioned him, "Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?" 26"I baptize with[i] water," John replied, "but among you stands one you do not know. 27He is the one who comes after me, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie."
28This all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

Jesus the Lamb of God

29The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! 30This is the one I meant when I said, 'A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.' 31I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel."
32Then John gave this testimony: "I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. 33I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.' 34I have seen and I testify that this is the Son of God."

SL Look at it in modern English
29The next day, John saw Jesus coming toward him and said: Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30He is the one I told you about when I said, "Someone else will come. He is greater than I am, because he was alive before I was born." 31I didn't know who he was. But I came to baptize you with water, so that everyone in Israel would see him.
32I was there and saw the Spirit come down on him like a dove from heaven. And the Spirit stayed on him. 33Before this I didn't know who he was. But the one who sent me to baptize with water had told me, "You will see the Spirit come down and stay on someone. Then you will know that he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit." 34I saw this happen, and I tell you that he is the Son of God.

Sometimes too you have to read more so you can see the larger view in order to get it.

Yes I understand that, but the spirit did not come down onto Jesus until he was baptized. So how did John spot the Lamb of God walking toward him?

Did John have a revelation of the spirit coming down onto Jesus before Jesus came walking before him. That would make sense of how he knew who he was.
