Ideas For Ministry

I don't do the twitter thing, or facebook, I used to fb but don't anymore.
certainly they can be used as avenues for spreading the gospel amongst your friends and family.

I don't do fb or twitter either Lanolin. lol I have a fb, but it's only to talk to a handful of people, not really an all around social device.

I think forums can be a good way. More specifically forums that have areas where people are able to bring their problems for advice. Seems to me many people realize they need God in their troubles. And when a Spirit is broken they tend to be more receptive. At least it seems that way to me.

I'm sure there's online chat as well, I think Barnados or some organisation has this ministry in nz called a 'what's up' helpline, in which you can call an 0800 number and talk about what's going on, and they have some online operators as well.

There's also the 0800 prayerline. Which has dedicated praying christians.
Forums like this can have that as well, prayer walls in which people can post their prayers.

I haven't checked, but maybe people can start dedicated prayer forums, I know this one is called talkJesus but I haven't really googled 'prayer' to find out if any exist. People might be more open to prayer if they aren't christian as non christians understand the concept even if they don't really know how to go about praying themselves.

To minister means exactly what? Is it not to serve?

We can use all of the fine modern devices and places to make our contacts, but we always to need to be looking at Jesus and hopefully understanding more and more how he ministered or how the scripture shows others ministering:

"And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment." Luke 7:37-38

Others there were quick to criticize and condemn but what did Jesus say?

"And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment." Luke 7:44-46

Some people are quick to preach or teach or criticize she ministered.

Who was she? She was a minister. Are we like she was? Are we like Jesus?

"He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

After that he poureth water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. John 13:4-5

"If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet".13:14

What was it that Jesus did? Do we need to have towel and a physical basin of water in order to minister?

Do we have to have money?

"Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee:" Acts 3:6
