What kind of things can we use to spread the Good News online?

Are there any free methods of sharing Jesus Christ?

Any ideas of any sort are welcomed, not just related to my questions. Everything ministry.

I'm hoping to learn some new things here and possibly help others share Christ as well. I want to do more for Him.

HOWEVER! The Faces of The Church are many and various in potency and purity and absoluteness, like the faces of Humanity. Which means that I don't say everyone ought to be like the way I described above; -For it is not an advocation (avocado.. :> .. ), ehm, which is Not compatable with the way things actually are, how Humanity really is, -We all fall short, terribly short usually, to the standards which God Father would in His Heart of Hearts want us to Live up to, being glorious and prosperous and righteous and all that Goodness.

Edit: Saying it is, all things considered, not a realistic thing to ask; (-for everyone to be like that before they minister Truth), -and I'm not even sure that would be better (that only such people ought to minister Truth.).

Amen.

((btw, this is not a message to the thread-poster, but as an addition, a gift, to the thread itself.)).

(((-Shall write some stuff in a couple mins hang on))).

Although some good things can be done online, the very nature of the godly first person face to face communication showing our light to be either true or false, there is nothing close in power compared to online. Its too easy for false witnesses to capture the heart of others online when the live witness of a life lived is missing. A message inspired by the Holy Spirit through a believer online is powerful to be sure, but face to face is so much better.

*a couple mins later*

So yes: Since I've lived most of my last years Online, I'm guessing I ought to give a good ponder in regards to how One may spread One's message Online....

*Ponders for 1-2 minutes*

This is what I came up with:

+ Making videos on Youtube, and other video-sites.
+ Finding, or making, a list of toooons of relevant Forums (such as this one), like, hundreds! Then creating "the perfect post" *cough* (hubris.. sorta)... which One then creates a new thread for in all of those hundreds of forums, -reaching many many many thousands of people!
+ Making a blog. And also sending requesting messages to people with good blogs if they may post a message there on the behalf of Goodness -reaching many peeps yet again.
+ Making Own Websites, kinda like the Makers of This Website.
+ Offering free talks via skype, for 1on1, or maybe hosting "talk-shows" or alike where One via one's direct voice may reach many Ones.

The other day at a ladies' breakfast, I picked up a free booklet written by Dennis Moles for Our Daily Bread Ministries, Discovery Series, called "Being Jesus Online: Biblical Wisdom for a Wired World". I haven't read it yet, but will, but it looks like a very helpful little booklet which includes four sections:

1. What Would Jesus Tweet?
2. The Heart of the Matter
3. Turning on the Right Filters
4. Clicking Share

I am sure I will learn a thing or two!

I highly recommend "Share Jesus Without Fear" and their actual marked bible that many use in their witnessing. The "program" for lack of a better word, is an excellent teaching for us who find face-to-face witnessing intimidating. We were taught by William Fay, who visited our church, how to share Jesus by asking simple questions, which completely override the tendency for unbelievers to become aggressive and ask what they think is pertinent questions, but are only a smokescreen for incendiary nonsensical rejections of truth.

Here's the website for Share Jesus Without Fear:

hmm
I would say blogs as well.
Also if you got time, commenting on blogs. Even small comments and scriptures can make a difference. I don't read many myself in that I don't regularly follow someone elses but some people are big on the blog community. I do have my own blogs, and if anyone reads it, well one of them is all about the Good News.

You can make a free one on blogger, which I find is easier and less complicated than wordpress.

Participating in forums is another, the bigger christian forums seems to attract many seekers and its there you can spread the gospel (beware though, of ticking off catholics, as they ban you if you say anything the church doesn't like)

And like others have said, just chatting to people who may be interested in the same hobbies as you and sharing Jesus or what God has done in your life, without being all super preachy.

Maybe, having a signature on your email that has scripture. People can see that you are a christian, without you even mentioning, cos it would be on your sig.

Don't underestimate the power of the Word. I myself came to know the Lord when I was in this group and there was a christian who had a testimony and she was encouraging and prayed for me. I was kinda depressed and needing support. It wasn't a christian group she just happened to be on it and we were talking spirituality and faith and about dealing with depression.

She told me the gospel in a way that I could understand. I think several seeds had been planted but her one took. So you never know. She had prayed to share the gospel with someone that day and I emailed her wanting to know more.

You've received some good ideas for what to do online/face to face communication from Brothers Sebastian, Brad Humber and Sister Ophel .

Here's a part from Acts 10:38 and a couple of the words they used to described Jesus. "who went about doing good"

Some of things that you can do are currently available to you, especially with your word skill. Well how about trying your hand at writing "tracts"? I get a lot of junk mail with return envelopes which I then mail back with a tract inside of it after praying over them. Stop for gas and with a card handy with a verse or two. I leave it at the pump when I leave. Same when using public rest rooms.

Everything from starting a backpack drive to help underprivileged kids at school. Collecting clothing for a clothing closet at a church. Collecting food for a food bank for the city, state, or church. Mowing somebodies lawn who may have a hard time doing it themselves or lack the equipment money. Driving around to different locations and praying for the people in the building, park, mall, school, wherever you happen to be. Right in your car. Cop asked you what you're doing? Praying for the folks Officer. Do you mind if I pray your safety and your families well being? Make contact with old folks homes/retirement homes. See if they mind you stopping by and reading for folks. Maybe even, something that you've written!

Opportunities abound, but taking that first step can be hard! Whatever you decide to do. Pray up beforehand. The enemy doesn't like proactive Christians! Rather have them quiet on the sidelines, keeping the Good News to themselves.

Anyway.....just ensure that whatever you feel you are being called to do or that is brought into your life to do. Do it with sincerity, humility, and most especially with the Love of Jesus!

Love you brother. Will be praying for you.

Spending your time more online versus eye to eye will make your world mostly in the privacy of your room. When you do not interact with us other problematic humans, you lose the interaction that can truly make you wiser. Online ministries can be great, as long as you dont use that to avoid dealing with the real world. I have seen charismatic people who claim Christ, yet are very manipulative, seeking power and control over others through their words, in which they proclaim God's word in print, twisting it to their purpose of controlling others, even satan used this ploy. When they keep their ministry online, they can keep the hypocrisy of their real life hidden and focus on manipulation of others. By our fruits are we seen as the true child of God, and our fruit cannot be seen online. Only words carefully crafted are seen. They may be sincere, but maybe not. Unless your wisdom and perception is clear in the view of others online, you can make huge mistakes of trust or lack of trust.

i will answer the second question, ideas for ministry (not just online).

Well at my church there's several ministries to different people like some visit prisons and spread the gospel, others read the Bible in schools for children, we have a community meal where there's an opportunity to share the gospel, groups gather at the mall in the coffee shop to pray, the church offers its carpark to the community for carboot sale and I think that gets prayed for as well.

Tracts are good if you want to reach your neighbourhood. Pray for the households in your street as you go walking past.

One lady I know plays the piano for people in hospital.
Another distributes food to the needy.
Whenever we donate our extra goods to an op shop like the Sallies, the money they get from people buying the goods goes to the needy. Oh and we get a bargain too!
Maybe you can organise a neighbourhood swap meet or bbq.
Community gardens are also a ministry, and there's an opportunity to tell Jesus parables using what we learn in the garden about faith.
Anything we do with love is a ministry to the person receiving it.

All of your inputs are appreciated. As a note for future reference, the person who initiated the thread is aware of the differences between online and face-to-face interaction. I'm grateful for the advice, but there is a reason the opening post was written with the line of questioning it has.

Nevertheless, I still appreciate all of the ideas. I also do not think for a second we should not take every advantage as a whole and disregard the internet as a powerful tool for witnessing.

Whether one method be better than the other is not the dispute. But rather that we find better means of using ALL methods to share Jesus Christ and His glory and forgiveness to everyone.

Ideas are the mechanics of the mind, the gears that produce profit and gain. Souls are saved through the body of Christ, and without the ideas His body has implemented (including to an enormous degree the internet) there would be very many people still lost and without Christ. God uses everything for the good of those that love Him. Not just one method because it's better.

Ophel, I want to thank you for that link.

I also want to address my above statement a little further. I don't want to restrict this conversation to only online media, and I am not putting away personal interaction. I actually feel compelled that I should have made the original post about ALL methods, but what I posted was what was on my heart at the given moment.

So I'm not trying to ask people not to contribute with those particular ideas, nor am I putting them away from the conversation. Rather I would like ALL the ideas shared equally like I stated as all the methods can be used to converse and share the Good News of our King and Savior.

He has been working on me very much lately, and I'm very very thankful for everyone's input. More than you know, including the ones that say face to face is better. As I also agree personal conversation is better. :)

But I don't want to discourage those who would use online relationships or conversation that wouldn't be otherwise possible without the internet. Just as we communicate here and wouldn't be able to do so in person, it is a blessing to many people who may not have opportunities except that those opportunities are online.

I love Lanolin's ideas and this point she makes:

Don't underestimate the power of the Word. I myself came to know the Lord when I was in this group and there was a christian who had a testimony and she was encouraging and prayed for me. I was kinda depressed and needing support. It wasn't a christian group she just happened to be on it and we were talking spirituality and faith and about dealing with depression.

And I love this too Christ4Ever!!:

Stop for gas and with a card handy with a verse or two. I leave it at the pump when I leave.

Ophel's link covers Christ4Ever's point about the first step being hard excellently. That link is an excellent tool!! It is something I've been attempting to re-think and understand correctly for years. It is something I believe every Christian should listen to. Thank you greatly.

Good job, Ceptor! You will be blessed with the ability you desire to spread the gospel of our precious Jesus Christ as you seek God's best!

I think..don't worry too much about the methods like there is a right way or wrong way to share Jesus as nothing can stop us from talking about Him. I think if God has laid it on your heart to say something about Him then he will give you the words to say.

I think, just suggesting my opinion here that is... the link Ophel posted is an excellent tool for understanding what to say, and how to say it.

The listen tab at that site holds a teaching I believe should be taught from every pulpit in every true Bible believing Church. Sadly, from experience I know it most likely is not being taught, but every sunday is an event just like the man teaching in that audio lesson refers to.

I do believe the Holy Spirit guides us, but I believe He does so through His body (body of Christ) and personally. The understanding the lesson gives that I'm referring to actually leaves you free to listen to the Holy Spirit rather than feeling like you're working a job.

If you can't tell, I really like what he had to say in the lesson. :)
