Who could disagree ??
But if I may make an observation (after reading numerous interactions here),
@GodB4Us invalidates this assertion by adding in the word ALL.... repenting of ALL of their sins - at once ... to include future sins, and then has concluded that since this is impossible, Repentance itself is impossible. One would gather, then, that all those Baptized of John, or Jesus and the disciples must not be saved. He seems reluctant, though, to actually state that.
Do ask
@God's Truth if he is still saying that sinners are to repent from all sins or not. You quoted him as not saying it in a recent post but he has been saying that a lot in other posts for why I am contending with him as saying that.
And if I may make a suggestion? "No one gets saved until they obey by repenting of those sins for which the Holy Ghost has brought a conviction to repent, the first and foremost sin being that of unbelief, for how could one repent if one hadn't believed in repentance ??
The only conviction the Holy Spirit will do is that unforgiveable sin of never believing in Jesus Christ for salvation.
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
It is the Father that draws sinners unto the Son
John 6:44 KJV to reveal His Son to them so they can believe in Him & be saved
Matthew 11:25-27 KJV as it is the Father that gives sinners to Jesus to save
John 6:37-40 KJV
By His grace, I am sharing correction by the scripture of Who is actually doing the drawing and the revealing for sinners to see their need of Jesus Christ as their Saviour to repent from unbelief by believing in Him & His words to be saved.
But unless I'm mistaken,
@GodB4Us intrinsically links the crucifixion with salvation. So how could one get saved at all before the Crucifixion? Of course the only conclusion here is that nobody was ever saved before Paul's message of Christ and him Crucified. This is a well known theological position and has led to the long time term of "Pauline Christians." (Not to be conflated with hyper-dispensationalists or Acts 28 Christians.
You are mistaken. Jesus told Nicodemus when that born again of the Spirit was to take place which was to occur after His ascension, which is after His crucifixion for whenever any one believes in Him to be saved & this born again.
John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Needless to say, I am not a "Pauline Christian."
The Holy Spirit convicts one of sin, even if the sin of unbelief, but in specific the sins that are currently oppressing a person. When such conviction abides in the heart, repentance is the only salvation, and as mentioned above, how could one repent in the name of Jesus if one hasn't believed in Jesus ??
Thank kindly,
Rhema
Not really sure what you mean by Pauline Christian but I agree with his gospel presentation as it agrees with Jesus's words on how any one is saved by believing in Him. I do note also no call to repent from all sins for Him to save any one.
Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
After salvation though, with Jesus Christ in us, saved believers have power to look to Jesus Christ for help to repent from all sins daily in living as His disciples, walking in the light in fellowship with the Father & the Son.
