hey everyone, im danielle, im a high school sophomore who's very much involved with the church. I've always felt God's presence in my life, and I've never felt alone, but recently, everything is feeling routine. I don't feel the same about everything. I found this site, and I thought, ''a place filled with wise loving people who love God as much as me, might be able to give me advice from their experiences.'' I've been praying and reading the Bible, but maybe an answer will lie around here somewhere. Thanks all for the support

Hi sis. Sometimes when things get a little "dry" it is only God causing us to search for Him and hunger for His presence.
Find your favorite worship music; not just praise but one that you can really pour your heart out in love with to Him; spend about two hours pressing in. I guarantee you when you are finished you will be awash in his presence and glory.
Go ahead, He is waiting.:shade:

thank you! i have not yet tried that, and i know of a song that moved me when i went to Bible camp in Tennessee :) I shall be listening to that

aw, thanks to everyone so much :) ive been reading some of the threads on here, and i already have had many questions about God answered. Im also feeling closer to my faith, knowing there are other people like me out there, that im not the only one that seems to be trying. :heart8:

Hi Danielle

I think it is ok for everything to feel routine. I think God wants you to know that he is not only in the church, Bible or worship music. He is with you all the time. He wants you to tell him yourself how you feel, pour your heart out to him. Remember God is a lot more than routine and boring. You are an individual to him and he has an individual plan for you. He is not looking for a performance he wants to feel your heart and feel you love him with out always relying on the tools to feel it.

This world can be nasty and he is with us through all of it. It is important to remember that if you are feeling nothing and can not feel the spirit. It is not your fault. Do not put to much pressure on yourself to get those feelings back. Leave it up to him and trust him. Satin wants you to feel guilty and unworthy of God. That way you will stop believing. God likes to test your faith sometimes. You are so young he must have so much Love and respect for you to be testing you at this age. You are special to him in away nobody will ever know. Just the simple thought of joining this forum is the work of God. I will pray for you.

wow, thank you so much :) that answer was full of hope for me, and I thank you, for praying for me! Its hard to try to have a strong faith at a young age, because not many people my age understand, or dont care much for it. So im constantly surrounded by people that would bring me down. It feels so nice to have a change from that horrible environment, and to just read the replies of people who DO get what its about, and DO want it.

You've got it! God said it is a gift from Him to you. And, if it is a gift, it is free. And if it is free, there is nothing to do but recieve it!
God said you must be "born again", go back to that moment, when you first believed in His Son's resurrected life and have peace.

St. Paul said (paraphrasing): " We only know in part, We only see in a mirror dimly( a poor reflection) but when our perfection comes, then we shall see face to face and we will know God fully, as well as He knows us." Find this in 1 COR 13: 9-12.

My Sister, until our day of perfection, we will all go through "dry periods", not too worry, it is just a refining process that God sends us through from time to time.

Remember this: From John 3: 5-6, A Christian has two births, we are born of water ( mother's womb) and born of spirit (resurrected life of Jesus Christ).
In the latter, spirit, God said that he will never leave you. A good way to look at this is, as with your first birth so it is with your second: you can not be un-born! God truly loves us, to give us this devine truth!

" Let not your heart be troubled:believe in God, believe also in me."
Jesus: John 14:1

So, its not bad to feel that way sometimes? I feel so much better about it :) My friend told me that even though it might get me down, the thing thats important, is that I am actually trying to get Him back in the center of my life. She said most will probably just wander away from Him, and then never have that faith as strong again. Thank you for your help :D

Hi, Dannibear. Welcome to TalkJesus. God tests us periodically so that our faith may grow deeper. We're tempted to say that He's abandoned us when in reality, Its comparable to a father teaching a child to ride a bicycle: With father steadying the bicycle by grasping the rear fender, the child feels confident and cycles on cheerfully. But eventually dad lets go and backs away a bit, and the youngster is forced to mature a little; to begin to develop a mature faith for times of trouble..

"Consider it pure joy, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (Jas 1:2-4 NIV)

ah, i never thought of it that way, thank you for the illistration to picture in my mind :) it clears up a lot. and i can totally understand that. Like, going to school your parents eventually let u walk to the bus stop alone, because the child is of age, and should be mature enough, and they might feel nervous at first, when they walk alone many more times, they feel confident after awhile :) and i know after a few of these trials, i will be confident, and know what to do
