‘Through love serve one another.’
Galatians 5:13

Before He went to the cross, the Bible says that ‘Jesus…took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him’ (John 13:3-5 ). Then He said, ‘I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you…Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them’ (vv. 15-17 ). What a lesson! Love can’t be manifested in isolation. It can’t be done sitting alone in front of a TV or PC. To quote the singer Michael W. Smith: ‘Love wasn’t put in your heart to stay. Love isn’t love till you give it away.’ Note, Jesus ‘showed them the full extent of his love’ (see v. 1 ). How? By donning a servant’s towel. And where can you do that? Anywhere! How about tomorrow at the office, the warehouse, or the job site? Your workplace can become a sacred place where God’s presence blesses the mundane, day-to-day routine, because the love of God within you wears a servant’s towel. ‘Let me make those copies for you…I’ll cover your calls while you run to school to bring your son his lunch box…you look like you’re going through a rough time, and I’m a pretty good listener. I may not have all the answers, but I know Someone who does.’ Paul bottom-lines it: ‘Through love serve one another.’ So go out of your way to serve someone today.~BG

Please, i am not criticizing the "Thread" or this post but enlightening the text again.
The text referring to "the servant and foot washing" The word that is address as servant here is really "Slave", a servant is a hired person in biblical text. But Jesus took on the role as a "slave". the role of a slave, even how he wrap the towel around himself and took off his outer garment, justified the role of a slave. He humble himself. to the point of embarrassment to His own disciples, "The Master of the House is taking on the role of a slave and washing the slaves feet".

The problem here is the 'ease of the translation" to not offend the reader. [as i have stated many of times in other posts]. it is to soften the blow and the harshness of the text and to appease the reader and listener in the public meeting of the "institutionalize church". and in essence to dull the senses in the intended flavor of the text. By 'adulteration' using the art of "tact & diplomacy" concerning "translations' of The Original copied text.

It will sometime add a different flavor of the text! and a more solid view, what is transpiring.

And yes, the people who normally wash feet was the wife, washing her husband feet when coming into the house or the "slave', both "Honoring their Lord"!

I am going to get n trouble on that last one commit.

I strongly disagree with your comment about "The problem here is the 'ease of the translation" to not offend the reader. ....... the 'institutionalize church' , etc, etc, ......concerning "translations" of the original copied text."

No further comments about it, though.
