First of all, Halloween is a secular holiday. Man created it, not God. A born again Christian has light from the Lord. Before we were saved, we were full of darkness. The simple fact that this holiday is usually celebrated during the dark hours of the night lends itself to evil and or sinful behavior. As a child, I celebrated Halloween, going from door to door in my neighborhood collecting as much candy as I could. Yes, it was fun and scary! It was fun to get scared back then, but back then I didn't have a relationship with Jesus. Back then I didn't understand, I am in the world but not of the world.( John 17:15-17)-I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your Word is truth. 1 John 2:15-Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Most adults who attend a Halloween party will indulge in alcohol and or drugs. They will be spending the evening with Satan in his playground. A dangerous place to be if Jesus were to return. If everything we do is suppose to honor God, why would I want to dress up in some crazy costume, drink a bunch of alcohol, and listen to loud music ? Been there, done that, before I knew Jesus. Now that I have a new birth and the Holy Spirit lives in my heart, I can't imagine taking Him to a Halloween party. (1 Peter 1:14-15)-As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct. Once I went to a Halloween party at a church. I felt uncomfortable the whole time. There was nothing holy about it. The Holy Spirit was not leading me to witness, He was leading me home! I left early and decided to never again celebrate Halloween. Celebrating this secular holiday may seen all innocent, but the appearance is evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:22- Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Modern celebrations of Halloween may appear on the surface to be quite harmless, but the spiritual implications of dabbling with the spirit world are extremely serious. God alone is the giver of life and all good things. To give recognition to false gods, and to imitate practices that honor them, is unacceptable and idolatrous. Not judging you brothers and sisters in Christ. I would never do that. I'm simply telling you what the Holy Spirit is telling me to do concerning Halloween. Parents, curious about your answer to this question: How can you read the Bible to your child every night and then turn around and take them to a Halloween party? How would you explain this activity to them?

Lord, we know that the Bible does not talk specifically about Halloween, but it talks a lot about evil. May all brothers and sisters in Christ, all around the world, follow the leading of the Holy Spirit concerning Halloween. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Love in Christ,
Jan :)

Thanks Sister Jan for sharing. I agree with how you have explained it.

I'll share how our church handles this Holiday called Halloween.
The church I attend has a special occasion/activity on Halloween that children & adults can attend and is promoted only as a Festival. Yes, it will include candy, but normally will also have games, and Biblical Characters in dress who walk around talking with people. This provides an alternative to all the Halloween activities that go on in the surrounding area and the children & parents enjoy more. No concerns about nightmares etc. It has also provided a means to get people who normally don't go to church, to consider going, when they find it as a safe environment for their children. The large parking lot is secured by fencing, and we also have security roaming the enclosure. Children can run around to their hearts content, and parents can relax!

Again, thanks for sharing.
With the Love of Christ Jesus.

I certainly have no illusions that the origins of Halloween are anything but pagan. But could you tell me exactly what those origins are?

Thank you for sharing this link sister,

The message in the link above is worth reading, I was aware of most of the items mentioned on the page, but I do confirm that it includes more than I knew and is well presented.

For anyone who hasn't read the message, I include a few paragraphs regarding the RCC, this is not intended as RCC bashing, it is just making clear changes made by RCC over the years regarding All Saint's Day and Halloween.

Judaism and Christianity ignored Hallow's Eve because of it's Satanic overtones. The worship of Hallow's Eve nearly died out until the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian (100 AD). He built a Temple of the Dead to appease the druids. The Temple gave the people a reason to start backing the festival again.

Rome went through a series of battles until Rome itself fell under barbarian conquerors. By 607 AD the Roman emperor Phocas recaptured the city. From the time Rome first fell until 607 AD, the Church of Christ had moved into Catholicism. Phocas wanted to insure [that] Rome remained a part of the Roman empire, so he gave the city to Pope Boniface IV. Boniface reconsecrated the Temple of the Dead, dedicating it to Mary, the "Mother of God".

It was a long standing policy of the Catholic Church to avoid making religious waves among the pagans. The Catholics began to wrongly equate physical growth with spiritual growth, so they would modify Church doctrine in an attempt to make it more pleasing to the pagan. "Certainly", the bishops reasoned, "If the pagan joins the Church, they will be converted to Christ in time". Actually their tactic had the reverse effect, and the Church doctrine became more and more muddied by pagan influence. When the city of Rome was given to Boniface IV, he decided to allow worship of Samhain to continue as long as the pagans joined the Church. The legacy of Boniface and Samhain is that many Catholic Christians, even today, light candles and pray for the dead, just as the druids did nearly 1400 years ago. The Catholics, rather than praying to Samhain, pray to Mary, the Mother of God. This practice, fermented out of the warped religions of the druids, finds no support in the Holy Bible. The druids day of worship, Hallow's Eve, was modified to be called All Saints Day.

For two centuries the yearly celebration of the dead was called "All Saints Day", and was held on the last day of October. In 834 AD the celebration was moved to November 1st, though it still retained the name of All Saints Day. As I said before, deluded Catholics still pray to Mary (just as the druids prayed to Samhain) for the souls of the dead. Their reasoning is that, since Mary was Jesus' mother, surely she'll convince Jesus to let these unrepentant souls into Heaven. The Bible, however, makes it plain that you can only be saved if you accept Jesus as Savior while you are in this life:

I do suggest, reading the full message, from the link provided by our dear sister @jaboyle100 above.

What is so wrong about celebrating Halloween in your opinions?

I want to clarify that my posting is to determine what others believe and that my particular belief is that I do not care either way about Halloween.

Dear Brother,
Understanding that you don't care, is the very reason it makes no sense to reply to you on the subject, but rather to voice an opinion to those who do care to reason it. As much as I love you brother, for me to you it would be like blowing in the wind.

I understand that. I just posted in another thread about Halloween what I do care about in relation to the topic. I don't see the need to basically continue the same discussion in two threads. But if you wouldn't mind checking out my post in that thread and maybe giving your opinion. I would appreciate it.
