Guided by Holy Spirit or my own heart?

I understood this so well, this is so true

Your old souls mate is not the real issue.

Your new souls mate is HUGE issue. the enemy is a master at misdirection..
Along with the insanity that comes from being linked with that whoever it is .
Your body/flesh/ emotions are connected and bonded to them. it is/was a spiritually legal agreement act you did..you can not be free till He says so .
it is a spiritually legal binding thing you did..
by laws that were set in motion at creation BEFORE THE FALL!

Only by two independent witnesses of the lord's doing and in his timing , because of the legal requirements of that act and is it dissolve at his say , that is why we make him lord of our life. only at his say is something spiritually legally undone.

,you are linked by emotions and every other way to someone else .. who for all you know could be as mad as a hatter.
please just don't teach!
maybe you should fast and pray and bless her and bless her that she become a christian.. maybe then he will break her away from you for her sake, because he desires her a new/fresh start.
heck I don't know how it works or unworks exactly .. but I wait for his directions before I DO STUFF he says not to do too.. so I don't have to know every law.

She has proven to not follow Christ. I will get married again. I'll just leave it up to the Lord for if/when he guides me into it.

And by the way, masturbation is a sin because lust=sin=death. And if we sin against our body we sin against the Holy Spirit.

well NO you brought up lust, I was not talking about that.
and if you dont' know what the difference is, I dont' know what to tell you.
let me try and explain it this way.
eating is not a sin! neither is the need to eat a sin.
but Gluttony is and so is Anorexia and Bulimia, these all carry different consequences IN THIS LIFE .." none of which does God FORgive us from in this life , we reap the consequences in this life ffor our actions.
it is not a sin to meet and manage our most basic needs of eating and even and occasional feasting is just fine ... as long as it is within managing wisely our basic needs.

so you brought up lust. I wasn't talking about lust ..
so fyi

lust carries certain consequences and fornication other consequences and adultry different consequences in this life . if asked he will forgive these sins for our eternal spiritual consequences , but he does not forgive the consequences in this life.. you will reap what you sow period in this life .
also

fighting and brawling has kinds of consequences , stabbing someone has another set of consequences . murder has another set of consequences in this life . if you murder you will go to jail or die in this life .. all of which if asked he can forgive our eternal spiritual consequences , but he will not TAKE AWAY the consequences here in this life!!!.

7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

so let us not get weary in managing our most basic requirements well .

I suggest with all earnestness that you find what is sin with God and what is consequences to God and not your own opinions or mine for that matter . as I am still learning things too and may I never stop learning.

4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

dear what is a lie?

Anything you or I "believe" that isn't what god "believes".
what is true? .. whatever He believes only.
everything else is born from our reality which is the very definitions of ' tree of good and evil".
You in your own "knowledge of good and evil" were afraid to "sin against your own body" with masturbation which is not anyway listed anyplace in the bible as a sin but even glutony is . even if it is the consequences here of are miniscule at most.. especially compared to the alternatives which you also went and did.. so instead you rationalized and you went out and committed at the very least fornication which the consequences in this life and spiritually are huge sometimes even death. yes spiritually "all sin" ( the big TEN ) I suspect can lead to spiritual death, and we wont' even go there now.

here is a huge secret
things which are not sin carry no consequences .. and do no harm. things which are sins hurt a lot more and remove freedom from us and trap us and make us ineffective. when it hurts to go like that hopefully you will stop going like that ! reaping the consequences of our actions has a awful way of teaching us things we don't want to know or understand

Revelation 21:23
And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
bronco may He also light your path with his truths, his reality and his love for you !
you are in my prayers.

I do not have the gift of celibacy, and I do have self control as far as fornication, but not sinning against my own body.

Celibacy is not a Gift of the Holy Spirit. It is commanded that unmarried believers abstain from sex to be pure and undefiled in God's eyes as members of the Bride of Christ (see Rev 19:7).

I just want a wife that has a good spirit that serves Christ and can read scripture and will pray with me. But, how do we know if God is leading us to someone or if its just our hearts?

As you grow in your relationship with Christ and surrender your will and your life to Him on a daily basis, you will learn to "hear" when the Spirit speaks to you. This takes time. It won't be completed quickly. You have to fight the "microwave society" mentality that leas us to think that all things have to be accomplished quickly.

I know fornication / adultery is evil and if we are followes of Christ we can't do that. But, masturbation is still a sin against your own body, right?

Masturbation

Hello again.

The single biggest reason not to masturbate is this: it’s usually linked to impure sexual thoughts. We usually associate sin with what we do, but not often with how we think. But we can sin in our heads too (see Matt. 5:27-28).

Sexual thoughts feed the need to masturbate. Masturbation encourages us to fantasise. We can get into a routine and a cycle and we can easily fire it up with porn. It’s a loop that’s hard to break free from. It usually starts when we are in our early teens.

Is there a cure? Yes, there is – through repeated discipline and godly zeal. In obedience we have to work at it! In our most private lives we should think about the holiness of God. He sees everything. His purity is absolute.

He intends to purify us and set us apart to do His will, but we can’t when we’re slaves to our own lust.

We have a choice. We can follow our desires or turn away. If we choose to lust we will pay a price eventually:

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.
But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

James 1:13-15 (NKJV)

The Bible talks about Christians having the mind of Christ. We do, but do we willingly think about things that offend the pure mind of Christ?

What do we watch, read, listen to? It all plays a part in our mental conditioning. Impurity is an act of the will – it’s our own fault. Do we really want to follow Him and keep His commandments?

For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart.

1st Corinthians 2:16, Amplified Bible

We may have spiritual problems to work through. As we exercise self-control and get close to God, and confess His ways are best for us, we will get the motivation and strength to beat the problem.

We are responsible for how we live. We can overcome masturbation and our impure thoughts by taking positive steps in Christ.

<DIR>(Cor 7:6-16)But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such but God hath called us to peace. For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife?

How come I am convinced that those catholic priests are just as afraid to masturbate for fear of 'lusting' .. as they are to molest children!

well "Jesis will forgive them" right?
What everyone is saying here is that real christians wouldn't ever go to a new car lot for fear of coveting?

Hey a study of the "bloody pharisee"? it is a very interesting study. for all the gyrations they went through because they FEARED Lusting ,they never dealt with the real issue, their own heart. never submitted their hearts and minds. never made him LORD, never asked him to define what is sin to him, never asked him to take away the fear or the lust or the narcissism that follows these two proud puppies around.
:coocoo:

please remember IN THIS LIFE he doesn't ever forgive in any way the consequences of sins committed against others!
ps excellent james, yes in order to accomplish that scripture ,requires love ..and along that path our narcissism has to pick up that cross and follow him !
