You don't need mysticism to open enlightenment through the use of peyote.
That practice reinvented itself from Native American spiritual practices, in the 60's. Never quite going away.
You are welcome to ask your "shaman" if he/she knows Jesus, and their answer will be all you need to know.
They'll probably mention something about "Christ Consciousness", which of cause takes away or I should say attempts to explain away the exclusivity of Jesus Christ, as God, and the sacrifice for you that He made and is just an enlightened person who found the way, that you or anyone else can to.
Trying to bypass the atonement through the sacrifice of Christ, is just another way of trying to bypass Jesus to attain that which you cannot purchase, beg, borrow, or steal. It was freely given Bellaj. Still, people will attempt to find other ways to do what they believe Jesus and others, Buddha, etc. have found. Which Jesus knew would happen and warned of, (John 10:1, 7-9) and so these practices will use whatever means necessary to get by the words of Jesus, by rephrasing the meaning of His words, to even trying to explain away once again, the exclusivity of Jesus Christ as part of the Godhead. Allowing any searcher if guided or done right to find their way in, and the use of peyote to alter ones perceptions gives one the belief that because it's an experience unlike what adhering to the Word of God can give you, that it's okay. It's not. That type of thinking does not lead one to the narrow door that one should enter through which is Jesus Christ, to life but the wide one, which is to death.
It's always been attractive to do. Gosh, there are many Christians, who believe that smoking weed helps them "set the mood" for prayer, and study! I posted an article on this somewhere on the site. So, in truth there is very little that man is not willing to try to have a spiritual experience that "feels" right and will guide them to (fill in the blank). The powers & principalities they are dealing with is not something to trifle with, because it is real and has eternal ramifications. In other words, many are dealing with demons (evil), and powers in searching for enlightenment, available only through the Holy Spirit (Third Person of the Godhead), by Jesus Christ alone, and the enemy of God. There is no other way, which I will say again is the exclusivity of Jesus.
I could go on, and on, but you catch my drift by now. Take care of what you do, in your searching. Not everything that is out there is benign or has a love for you that God has. He proved His love for you by sending His Son, to die on the Cross for you. Amazing don't you think that the death & resurrection of His Son, for a people who have no love for Him, is how He shows His love for us! Now that is mind blowing!
