....Believes in evolution and believes that homosexuality is not wrong. Women was created for man so that the two of them could join and become one. Many "Christians" in the UK (Where I live), believe in evolution. Some even believe The Old Testament shouldn't be taken literally and is a "image of the truth", if the option came up, should I date these "Christians"? I myself believe Adam and Eve are 100% FACT as is the whole of the Old Testament (I've seen the archaeological evidence for it), for a marriage to work, the two must agree on many of their own beliefs.

Blast the idiots who preach evolution - they are the false prophets Jesus spoke about - misleading Christians and making them doubt scripture. It's like I'm the only true Christian in the UK!

This is beginning to make me believe that these are indeed the end times. Few will be saved. To accept Christ - you MUST BELIEVE every word he says. Just accusing him of lying, is like accusing him of being Satan. Only Satan can lie.

Dear LifeinJesus,

You are right to question whether such a relationship could work. The question is, if the other person believes in evolution and homosexuality, what ELSE does he believe that is not correct? And, what would that person DO with those beliefs? For instance, would that person present such liberal ideas to the children, as being correct? How would you deal with that in a family setting? And if that person believes homosexuality is okay, might he have homosexual friends? Or even...dare I suggest it...???

I have some very strong and perhaps "different" beliefs myself, if you have read some of my posts. I think my beliefs are scriptural, otherwise I wouldn't hold to them. However, even in the more conventional doctrines there are always differences in the nuances. My husband and I don't agree on every interpretation of Scripture, but the main doctrines of our faith plus our moral convictions are the same. If we focus on the things we have in common, it works much better. Plus my husband is starting to understand better why I feel the way I do about certain doctrinal issues.

For your sake, you would be much better off marrying someone with your same views, especially because those are the views that God will bless. It may seem impossible that such a guy/gal (I don't remember if you are male or female) exists in your country, but maybe there is some young man/woman in another city saying the same thing about all the young gals/guys. You never know.

Romans 11:3-5 (King James Version)

3Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
4But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. 5Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

God´s Word tells us that the last stage of church is indifference; many churches will allow righteousness to be modified to accommodate sin, and they do this for the petty reason of wanting to be friends with the secular world.

I suppose all in good time I will meet someone who shares my views. I don't want a relationship just for what many want nowadays and that's sexual intercourse. I want a relationship with a fellow Christian who shares my beliefs - as the The Bible being 100% fact. Being spiritually connected to that person is what I want. I am a male BTW.

The Lord has His plans laid out, he tests the righteous but I will not succumb to lust. I pray to King Jesus - our saviour and messiah for strength - to keep all evil thoughts out of my mind, to protect me, to grant me strength and to grant all his faithful servants strength.

May the Lord God bless us all and guide us. If we fail him, may we be forgiven. Being good is so much better than being bad and all I want is to make God proud. I WILL MAKE HIM SMILE UPON ME!!

LifeinJesus,
Praying for you brother. My suggestion is to pray for the person that God has chosen for you even if you don’t know who that might be right now. Pray for their coverage and strength in the face of a secular world, and an ever accommodating church where ever they might be. That the Holy Spirit might communicate to them, that they will also know that they are not alone and that it will be in His good time that you both will meet!
In this post you’ve pretty much answered your previous post. “You want someone who shares my views.” Those views being based, correctly I may add that the bible is fully the Word of God and is not open to picking and choosing what one wants, but in its entirety, the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth! For non-believers, I’m concerned for them and the wide path they are traveling on, but don’t argue or discuss the validity of the Bible with them. We won’t and can’t convince them of its truth. We are to present the gospel to them, but the doctrines are irrelevant to those who don’t believe because it’s for us to follow and not them. Satan I’m sure has his own books for them which sadly they chose to read quite willingly.
The view of others with homosexuality & evolution, but to name a few have always and will continue to be hot topic issues for Christians and supposed Christians everywhere. Many who have no problem with homosexuality have a hard time separating the Love of a person, from the actions a person is doing, regardless if scripture says it’s wrong. Toss in popular Christian leaders who are unwilling to confront the issue and there you have it. Mixed up Christians, unwilling to stand up for the Word of God! Churches which have become more worldly then Godly. Add to this that just about every venue of education has been telling students the “theory of evolution” is true and you have a really big contingent of folks willing at best to call you a simpleton. Accept those stripes my brother with joy! At times this is very difficult. Remember they ridiculed our Lord Jesus, hated Him, and we His servants are no more special that we should expect different treatment. Continue to speak the truth, regardless of the cost in this world. Oh, my brother, but what a gain you will have earned!
Well I could keep going, but they suggest short posts! Just remember, you have brothers and sisters here who love you and are praying for you. Stay Faithful! YBIC

Do you see something!! saying one is a Christian, does not make you one!! Of the many scriptures against sleeping with the same sex,and even for the unsaved I think it is plain enough!! Ask this person about this scripture!! rom 1:25-32 And we shall know them by??? yep there fruit!! saying one is a believer, does not make us one! If one does not believe the Bible, then they are not only lieing to you,but even worse, unto themselves! Just tell this person in love, demons believe in God, and they fear and tremble!!! ( james 2:19!!!!) then verse 20 Faith without works is YEP DEAD!, We know we are saved by grace through Faith, and we also know, this as well!!James 1:22 Be ye doers of the Word and not hearers only! I say no to dating or marryingfor what has light to do with darkness??? just my thoughts. a bird could marry a fish!! But where would they live together?? May the Light of Jesus shine through this persons darkness.

Your assumption is all true Christians believe the Bible to be 100% fact.

The Bible addresses the issue of who belongs to God and who doesn't in quite a few places. I don't think that the issue of the accuracy of the scriptures is a big concern in any of them. Think of a passage like Luke 13.

I have been married for 12 years and my wife and I rarely talk about evolution or homosexuality. It's really not a big deal in our relationship.

If your question is more generally about the wisdom of marrying someone whose faith you have no respect for, I'd say "unwise".

It's not an assumption. A Christian is a follower of Christ and believes everything he said. He mentions Moses, King David and mentions how He came to fulfil the scripture (Old Testament), if a "Christian" doesn't believe in the Old Testament, then there's no such thing as Jesus - the messiah for it's the Old Testament that mentions Him. I can't say - "Adam and Eve aren't real but Sodom and Gomorrah were but everything after until Daniel was all fake + Moses and Elijah never visited Jesus on the mountain and he was never born from an virgin - Heck, he wasn't even the son of God!" and then consider myself a Christian. Jesus also mentioned Sodom and Gomorrah, so denying the Old Testament is calling Jesus a liar - how can the son of God, be a liar? That makes Him a human and that means Christianity is a lie - I can't be with someone who thinks that - even though their words say otherwise - their beliefs shows the truth of what they believe.

I just don't know who I should be angry at? Satan for making these lies and tempting people, or atheists for spreading these lies so that even believers come to believe them.

Put Adam and Eve in a science book and nearly everyone would believe it. People say religious people are brain washed but it's the other way around with the unreligious who believe unscientific theories which are supported by no evidence. It's such a shame to see so few true Christians nowadays.

There are even some "Christians" who don't believe in God but believe in Jesus! They got put in their place when someone said that Jesus came to speak about God and show us the way to Him. If you can't believe in that, then you couldn't really be a follower of Christ. See what modern day society is doing?

Soon the time will come when you'll have more idiots who will say they are Christians but don't even believe in God or Christ but follow the words of Christ because they are good to follow.

I think in this modern age a person should marry a christian if possible. I believe the Lord orders our paths. There are a lot of christians out there married to non believers. I know that the Lord says if you find yourself married to a non believer remain in that position if your partner is happy to be with you. The biggest problems you see in relationships is where there are two different faiths. The one and only true God cannot be split in two. The human carnal mind invents its own God where a person born again by the holy spirit has the spirit of God in them and the mind is illuminated by the spirit. The spirit of God reveals christ to us.

Honestly, read your Bible. Neither the Law nor the Prophets nor Jesus nor the Apostles make an issue of literal interpretations. It is never a condition of salvation.

The Bible is made up of all sorts of different kinds of literature. We should read poetry as poetry, history as history, parables as parables and law as law. You get the point.

As we are on the subject of romance, how do you feel about this statement from the Song of Solomon? Is it calling God a liar to read this as a metaphor?

How beautiful you are, my darling!
Oh, how beautiful!
Your eyes are doves.

You make absolutely no sense still, I'm sorry. St Paul said it's impossible to join Jesus' body (us) to the body of a prostitute who has not repented (obviously). Atheists aren't regarded highly either and Jesus condemned a town who did not believe. He also didn't regard false Christians highly, He said many will come to Him saying they drove out demons in His name but many will be turned away.

The Bible is literal truth. If one part is wrong - then all of it is. As far as my studies go, all of it is right. Let go of lust, let God rule you. You know it's the right way. The doubt of verses is you not wanting to give up on sin.

"How beautiful you are, my darling!
Oh, how beautiful!
Your eyes are doves."

Yes, a lovely verse but this has nothing to do with what we were talking about. I never said we can't have love for another person.

My reason for quoting the verse from Song of Songs is to raise a question about truth. If the only kind of truth statements we accept are literal ones, then I can only see two ways to deal with this verse. First, the "darling" that is the subject of the verse actually does have doves for eyes; or second, God is a liar and the Bible is false.

Isn't it better to accept that the Bible is rich with different kinds of truth? It is more natural to read "your eyes are doves" as a metaphor. Rendered literally, it means something like "you have beautiful, gentle, delicate eyes".

Insisting on being literal gets you into real trouble with Jesus' statement "If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple." Jesus cannot be speaking literally here without contradicting his own teaching. It is hyperbole - deliberate exaggeration to make a strong point.

Jesus' parables. Would it make sense for the crowd to respond to Jesus' parable of the Good Samaritan by asking, when did this happen; what were the names of the priest and the Levite; did the innkeeper look after the man well? No, the power of the story is not in whether it is literally true fact or not. It is what the story has to say about the law, and our responsibility before God to others.

Just for the record, I do not doubt the Bible. I believe that the Bible is inspired by God, is reliable history, and trustworthy from beginning to end.

The song of songs is a SONG book. Poetry always comes up with such stuff. Haven't you read Shakespeare? When we read the words of Jesus - they all literal truth. Psalms and the song of songs are poetry books - normally about God's love and no words of God are in them unless quoted from the author. The song of songs was written by Solomon. The psalms were written by David. God has nothing to do with them and they have nothing to do with history.

Parables are stories often used to explain something, you should know this and The Bible is not a secret parable. You should stop looking at The Bible as a book you have to translate - everything in it is literal apart from of course the songs which I thought was obvious to you since the Bible mentions who wrote them and why they were wrote.

When Jesus says "I am the true vine", is that to be taken literally?

This is beginning to make me believe that these are indeed the end times. Few will be saved. To accept Christ - you MUST BELIEVE every word he says. Just accusing him of lying, is like accusing him of being Satan. Only Satan can lie.

The apostle Paul wrote: "Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness? Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Be´li·al? Or what portion does a faithful person have with an unbeliever?"(2 Cor 6:14, 15) Thus, to date someone that does not clearly recognize the Bible as God's word and put it into application, is going against Paul's inspired counsel.

Just before the Israelites were to enter the land of Canaan in 1473 B.C.E, Moses told them: "When Jehovah your God at last brings you into the land to which you are going so as to take possession of it....you must form no marriage alliance with them. Your daughter you must not give to his son, and his daughter you must not take for your son. For he will turn your son from following me, and they will certainly serve other gods; and Jehovah’s anger will indeed blaze against you, and he will certainly annihilate you in a hurry."(Deut 7:1, 3,4)

Hence, the nation of Israel were particularly warned against forming marriage alliances with the Canaanites. Such alliances would intimately involve them not only with pagan wives but with pagan relatives and their false religious practices and customs, and this would result in apostasy and a snare.

After the death of Sarah, Abraham sought a wife for his son, Isaac. Abraham told his oldest servant. Eliezer: "Put your hand, please, under my thigh, as I must have you swear by Jehovah, the God of the heavens and the God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Ca´naan·ites in among whom I am dwelling, but you will go to my country and to my relatives, and you will certainly take a wife for my son, for Isaac.”(Gen 24:2-4)

Later, Isaac's son Esau married two women of the land of Canaan. However, Genesis 26:35 says that "they were a source of bitterness of spirit to Isaac and Re·bek´ah". These knew the kind of people that inhabited the land of Canaan. Later, Esau's mother Rebekah, said of his wives: "I have come to abhor this life of mine because of the daughters of Heth. If Jacob ever takes a wife from the daughters of Heth like these from the daughters of the land, of what good is life to me?”(Gen 27:46)

For anyone who doubts the authenticity of the Bible, or who believes in evolution, despite calling themselves a "Christian", would cause a division. Jesus gave a sound principle: "Every kingdom divided against itself comes to desolation, and a house [divided] against itself falls."(Luke 11:17) Thus, to build any relationship with anyone who does not treasure the Bible, and put it's words into practice, is asking for a ' divided house.'

When Jesus says "I am the true vine", is that to be taken literally?

Yes for He is the vine, just like He is the way, the truth and the light. Ha. I suppose you believe the resurrection was metaphoric as well. Ha. Why believe in The Bible at all? The whole book could just be a metaphor! See. You can't pick and chose.

On the topic at hand - the verses speak of "not marrying non Christians". Is that metaphoric too? It certainly doesn't metaphoric.

Exactly. They can't be a true Christian if they accept evolution or homosexuality.

You misunderstand. Jesus is using a metaphor when he says "I am the true vine". To take this literally would be to believe that Jesus said he was actually a plant.

Lion of Judah, Bread of Life, Good Shepherd, Lamb of God, Alpha and Omega... all metaphorical.

The Bible is rich in this kind of symbolic language. Even the phrase "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers" is a metaphor. A yoke is a part of a harness system for oxen. Paul was obviously not intending the Corinthians to take this saying that they should not strap themselves into agricultural gear with non-Christians. No, it means that the Corinthians must keep themselves set apart from the world.

Your supposition that I believe the resurrection is only a metaphor is entirely incorrect.

We cannot pick and choose in the sense that we sideline the bits of the Bible we find difficult to metaphor. Much of the Bible is taken up with describing things that are far, far beyond our experience and comprehension. Symbolic language points us to truths beyond our understanding.

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers is not metaphoric. I admit the others do sound and are metaphoric but that is not. When I said The Bible is the literal truth - You KNEW what I was talking about:

Adam and Eve - Fact.
Homosexual being wrong - Fact.

So, you believe that when God called homosexuality wrong, He was speaking metaphorically? So what did He mean? Did He mean that men can't befriend other men and sit on the same beds as them?

LOL.

"Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness? Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Be´li·al? Or what portion does a faithful person have with an unbeliever?"

There's nothing metaphoric about this. Paul is actually making a statement in the words I have made bold. Combine that with the house divided verse and I have my answer. Christianity and man made laws don't go well together. You and many "Christians" are starting to apply "modern" rules to God's word. But hear that there is no other truth other than God and His word.

If God said that homosexuality is wrong, it's wrong. If God said He created humans (after all, He created the universe) then He created humans. We are in no position to doubt and accuse God of being a liar, we are in no position to even judge against God. Not only are you calling God a liar by believing in evolution but you call Christ a liar, he specifically mentions God's creation of man and women and the serpent that deceived them. Liar is a terrible word to call God and Christ and then the atheist comes along and says: if that part of The Bible is wrong - then why can't the rest be wrong as well? This = End of Christianity. If all Christians started going against the Old Testament, Christianity would soon be dead or at least made to look bad and all will laugh at it saying "Why should we believe in this when the Christians themselves don't even believe God who is great, created humans?"

Evolution and the God of The Bible can not co-exist together. Anyone who reads any book (excluding poetry or song books) in The Bible will see God activity interacted with humans once. So if he can do that and if he can create the universe - he can create man. That's why any "Christian" who believes in evolution doesn't believe in God of The Bible. They worship Satan really.

So how can Christ join with Satan? Impossible! There's no such thing as Ying and Yang co-existing to maintain balance. As long as both exist - there will always be chaos. The same goes with Christ (Us) and Satan (Atheists, liars, murderers ect.). Christ is coming back to stamp on all evil and destroy it once and for all.
