Matthew 12:22 "Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.
12:23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?
12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
12:25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
12:26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
12:27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.
12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come."

This portion of Scripture has confused many Christians. I hope to shed some light on this very important instruction from our precious, mighty, Son of God, Jesus.....I hope to honor that great Holy Spirit of YHWH. So many Christians hardly give the Holy Spirit much thought in each day. Hopefully, after this thread has run it's course, we will not only honor Him but call on Him for what He does best, sets people free!!

This could very well be a long introduction to this thread because there is a lot to cover. I will attempt to explain many of these verses as the Holy Spirit gives me wisdom and knowledge.

12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils....The scene is Jesus healing a man who was blind and mute. This very dramatic miracle stunned the people but irritated Israel's Leaders who hated Jesus.

This is also the background of an important instruction against the blasphemy toward the Holy Spirit which there is no forgiveness for that sin. The Pharisees were saying that the power behind the power of Christ Jesus came from Beelzebub the prince of demons.

We must be very careful when we criticize a person's ministry and calling it false and of the devil. I've heard folk say that about Benny Hinn. Be careful!! We won't know the Truth until Jesus shows us. Here is a verse to remember....

Matthew 11:18 "For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
11:19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children."

Here we have judging words without really knowing the person. We must not judge before the time, the Apostle wrote. Here it says, "wisdom is justified of her children." That means that a persons works will display it's validity in what it or they produce or the aftereffects.

12:25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
12:26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?

I think this is quite clear. If a force fights against itself, it will fail....Lets get personal. Every Christian is supposed to fight the good fight of Faith, we cannot give up. Many Believers who are tired of this lousy life here on earth, want to just die and get out of here.

If a Christian gives up, he is fighting against him/her self. The life will simply stay stagnant with no positive spiritual service to our Lord Jesus. Depression is a big stopper of forward motion of pleasing our Lord.

12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you....Ah yes!! The great and powerful ministry of the Holy Spirit, always brings the Kingdom of God into a present situation of trouble. Listen, there is nothing impossible for the Holy Spirit of God to reverse or accomplish.

I believe that the Holy Spirit is very pleased when we believe by faith to ask Him to do what seems impossible to us. Heal a blind mute man? No problem for the mighty Holy Spirit Who was working thru Jesus. AND, He wants to work thru us so that the Father and the Son are glorified and the Name of Jesus will be honored in this life.

Now, this is very important....The humanity of Jesus the Son of God could not accomplish even one miracle. The miracles come from the spiritual side of Jesus, not the human side. How many times did I think that my prayer would accomplish anything? Before I attempt to enter the Spiritual realm, first I must prepare my heart/mind to empty my flesh and call upon the Holy Spirit to enter the situation and cause His great work in setting people free.

The Holy Spirit is the One Who binds the strong man. The Holy Spirit is the Agent of YHWH that actually enters the domain of Satan, and cuffs him so that where Satan had been causing trouble, now he is defenseless against the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is much more powerful than Satan and can stop him when we are in the Spirit's control.

12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.....This is the UN-pardonable sin. Don't be confused, This sin can only be committed when we forsake the leading of the Holy Spirit to be saved, and to attribute that ministry of someone as from the devil when in fact their ministry was of the Holy Spirit.

If we don't have sufficient information about a ministry or person, we can't really see into that persons heart. Therefore no judging until Jesus reveals Truth.

May God our Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit bless you and help you the next time someone needs you to help them. Remember, call upon the Holy Spirit to be the one to change every situation.

Aye and was not the center of our heart included in the domain of satan until the Holy Spirit came to "bind the strong man"? Give God the glory!

"For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness" Ps 18:28

O my. there could be so much that would relate to binding the strong man as you have noted. Boy, there's a lot to ponder here my good friend. Bless you my Dear Brother. I love You!!

Mat 16:19.. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

And are not each of us a little bit of earth that God has formed and breathed in...? Give God the glory!

Yep, it is our physical body (of the earth) that gives us the right to exercise God power, which is why the Lord has always needed a man on earth with faith that would give God access to the earth.

Aye, and the physical brings with it its own ways which are not God's Way, but we are to be good stewards over all that God has placed in our hands. Alone, we cannot, but...

"I can do all things through Christ which stengtheneth me" Phil 4:13

Many Believers who are tired of this lousy life here on earth, want to just die and get out of here.

Pro 13:12.. Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.

I think the reason why that is, is we all start out excited about the expectation of receiving great things from the Lord through our "hope". But, and if that hope seems to be taking to long to come (deferred) we just give up, and decide, well, I guess I won't see my hope fulfilled until after I am dead and gone. Their heart has become "sick".
What we are suppose to be doing is "holding fast to our confession of faith without wavering, for God is faithful who promised".(Heb 10:23)

yea they need to focus on sending treasure ahead, thats the only reason I want to stay here. I have a lot of work to do LOL

Works equals rewards lets get busy !!

In the name of Jesus !!

I personally think it is a matter of being born again and loving the Lord first, then, at least for me, everything else comes into focus!

Yes we are!! In reality, we're "dirt Bags"
That was my first though, but I'm going with "dust devil" instead because it's more animated.

It's been my experience when seeking answers from the holy Spirit that I usually receive a series of questions that I can't answer which tells me that my question was probably based on some misunderstanding and unless the answers to those questions are understood I can never grasp the answer to the original question as asked.

When the disciples asked Jesus "who sinned that this man was born blind" they had two possible answers.
#1 his parents did
#2 he did

Answer:something you did not consider=neither, but that the works of God might be shown through him.

Jesus just solved that for them without addressing the beliefs they had that caused them to see everything through their own understanding.
They had to somehow shove his answer into their belief system and it fit like a square peg in a round hole. It's like a new patch on an old garment or new wine in old skins.

The Holy Spirit usually wants to show us where our believing left the road so to speak and get us to back out of error and open our eyes, ears and heart to receive understanding that will prevent that kind of navigational error in the future.
You can only patch up a belief system so long before you are patching patches.Every time you study and heart fully seek truth you will learn something and you will have to somehow attach it to an existing belief system, modify the belief system or stop learning.
I feel that the Holy Spirit helps us design the new wine skins before he pours the wine.
I found it's better to have a belief goal and I recommend that it be to believe on the one whom God sent.

I learned this many many years ago. I had lots of questions I needed answers to, but the Lord seemed quite on answering them. Not until later in years did I get my questions answered, not because the Lord could not answer them, but because if he did tell me I would not have understood. It is kinda like being in school, you first learn the basic elementary things, and then later we can go on to bigger harder things. We can not learn algebra until we first learn how to add, and subtract.

There is no doubt learning new things requires work on our part. New revelations will always cause things we first thought to be true to be found out untrue. Every new piece of the "puzzle" gives us new vision into the things of God that open up other doors, and scriptures we did not know before. The question would be, will we believe what the Lord tells us by his Spirit, or will we cast it aside and stick to our old ways, and traditions of man. This takes work to over come our unrenewed carnal mind.

Yes sir always Love the Lord first in all thing, when I love the Lord I want to please him, when we please him by doing good works, he rewards us, its a win win Praise Jesus. We are programmed from God to like rewards, its just some like short term rewards of this world instead of seeking treasures in Heaven that never rot away and last Forever !!

I would rather look at it at doing his works through me....he is the vine and we are the branch, without him, we can do nothing!

Hi RJ I agree, with out Jesus we are nothing and can do nothing, all the Glory to God.

DO you not look forward to your rewards in Heaven? TO be told well done by our heavenly Father? The Bible speaks much of rewards and works and I think it is good to embrace it and use it as a motivator, obviously your heart has to be in the right place, and that is where your treasure will be whear your heart is

I think maybe some people get un comfortable talking about rewards and Heaven??.

James 1:12
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

Matthew 16:27
For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done.

Matthew 5:12
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Luke 12:33-34
Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Matthew 25:21
His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

1 Timothy 6:17-19
As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

Revelation 22:12
“Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay everyone for what he has done.

Revelation 2:10
Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

2 Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

Matthew 6:4
So that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

1 Corinthians 2:9
But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”—

Matthew 6:18
That your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Thiscrosshurts. That my friend is a very wise post. I'd like to suggest two Scriptures from 2nd Peter that sheds some light on your good reply....
2Peter 1:2 "Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."

2Peter 2:20 "For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning."

I have found so many questions that I've had over the years, have been answered in an ever increasing knowledge of Jesus, the Son of God. About a year ago, after years of studying both the Old Covenant & New Covenant, I studied afresh the 10 Commandments and Jesus' instructions in His Sermon on the mount in Matthew chapter 5. Jesus' beatitudes were an eye opener to all of Moses Law.

As I have simply studied "Jesus" I have found that my questioning heart has been satisfied in my knowledge of the Son of God supplied to me by His Holy Spirit.

Thank you for your wonderful post, I liked it very much.
