It seems that far and away most Christians believe in a place called "heaven". Or at least a place called
the new Jerusalem. But some think these places are only an idea or an abstract.
I find the Bible rarely uses abstracts. It does use parables, but parables are made of real substances,
not abstracts.
John 14:2; says... In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so...
I would have told you.
That's pretty plain. We have dwelling places after this life. We don't just wander around on earth
or out in the cosmos some where. Jesus even says.. if this wasn't true... I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. ( John 14:3; )
Yes, there is a kingdom of God here on the earth of sorts, it's here even while we are alive,
We can be in it, even while we are alive, but this isn't our eternal resting place. In fact the Bible
says there will be a new heavens... and.. a new earth.
The new Jerusalem has physical dimensions, it has walls.. that keep certain people out. ( Rev 21:27; )
( Rev 22:14-15; )
Even our spiritual bodies have to dwell somewhere.
