I'll do my honest best on all questions:

Is supporting BLM the actor a good Christian or a bad Christian or any bearing on Christanityat all?
Answer: I don't know, only God is the ultimate Decider of who is a Christian or not, But I do know this....the "original" BLM and there supporters have evil intentions..
I don't see any " good" person supporting that.
Also, there is the faction that says: by not supporting BLM is racist.
Neither are good...are they?

I have said elsewhere in this thread my neighborhood has several blocks with multiple churches on them. My block has only one. The Rehoboth Cathedral ministered by the right Reverend Bishop Gerald G. Seabrooks. Rehoboth is an all black congregation (I am not myself a parishioner). Tomorrow morning I must make a point of asking the rev and any members of his flock (we meet on the sidewalk every Sunday) if they are aware of these “evil intentions” behind BLM. I suspect they labor in ignorance of it. More’s the pity as the streets all around are stenciled with BLM tags, BLM signs hang in many of my neighbors’ windows and I am quite sure lots of the congregation were in the crowd last summer when we took one whole block of Fulton Avenue and painted the pavement with BLM across both lanes of traffic.

As time goes on I have become less active here. There are a number of little reasons why, but this is a main one:

This community accepts an assumption that Christianity = Conservatism (political, social, or both).

This notion more than rankles me. I am white. But I live in a part of Brooklyn, NY where the VAST majority of my neighbors are black, stretching a couple miles in every direction. Additionally, along many of those city blocks, stand one Christian church. The ones that DON’T have one church have two or (on several) three.

Each Sunday, the streets are choked with people double parking for church services. The cops don’t even bother writing tickets because Sunday-go-ta-meetin’ is such a deeply ingrained and accepted facet of our community.

These churchgoers are Christian. And most of them are NOT conservative. Neither are the many Latino communities that checkerboard this city beyond my immediate neighborhood. (Most of the population of these areas are Catholic, and I have been told here more than once that Catholics are not “real” Christians, which would come as quite a shock to them.)

The only people who get to decide how much or little Christianity is linked to Conservatism are the individual Christian and God himself.

Seeing Christianity shackled to Conservatism such as the message in the welcome page that greeted me today when I logged on is vexing and saddening. I’m happy to argue that social and political Conservatism are both betrayals of some of THE fundamental tenets of Christianity as long as anyone likes with as many people who like. But this assumed, inextricable linkage broadcasts that any such conversation is pointless and anathema here.

If the “one true church” is the body of Christians all the world over, this attitude, intentional or otherwise, sends a clear message that Christians who consider themselves Liberals should expect no bond with coreligionist brethren here.

To me, that is a very UNChristian principle indeed.

I try to stay out of politics myself. Even covid and the vaccine has become another opportunity to argue. I've lost "friends" for talking about how I voted Trump. It just isn't worth it. So I don't talk about it anymore unless I am asked. Abortion is murder. I'm pro gun, pro border, though I think there should be better immigration policies for people to come in legally. I am pro Israel. I think Christians are being painted as the bad guys in all honesty if you look long and hard at it, because many are conservative, just watch what happens, but this constant division is not good. United States is being torn apart from the inside out. Pointing fingers and judging is something Jesus said not to do.

Mayflower, I doubt you and I agree on just about anything politically, on issues I consider of IMMENSE import. But, as I keep saying again and again throughout this thread, even if our views are direct opposite to one another, I can’t and won’t use that as any reason to call you a “bad” or a “fake” Christian. You say you’d rather not discuss politics and I respect that sentiment. Indeed, at least in this venue, I am as reluctant to discuss politics as you appear to be. I thank you and appreciate that sentiment.

I am about to go out into my neighborhood this fine Sunday morning and the streeets and sidewalks will be thronged with Christians on their way to church. And, BELIEVE me, this is no crowd that liberals blame for anything.

Hi Guys, I quite like this thread but I think you've all missed the point. You're debating, is God a Conservative, a liberal or maybe even a socialist? Another Q - if Jesus returned would he vote Republican or Democrat (Conservative or Labour in the UK) The answer to these questions is no, no, no and no, respectively! God is so much bigger than all the politicians combined visions and promises!

Another point, quite a few of the posts are quoting Biblical rules, regulations and laws. Well actually, there are none. That's what's totally unique about our God as compared to other gods. Our passage to Heaven is solely based upon our belief and acceptance of Jesus AKA faith; anything we have done or not done is completely irrelevant. Apostle Paul puts it like this -

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV

That sounds very liberal, you can do what you like, it don't matter. Well in theory maybe but if we truly love Him and want to delight and please God and want to avoid stressing and angering Him, we learn about His will and we follow it, also we learn about what upsets and hurts God and avoid it like the plague. Our purpose is His pleasure.
