What is a Saint?

Almost always found in the plural as "saints" in the New Testament, the Greek word translated as "saint" in modern English Bibles, simply refers to believers in Jesus, such as "the saints" who lived at Lydda Acts 9:32. It does NOT refer to someone who is necessarily celibate or someone who is any better than anyone else, nor does anyone need to be declared a saint by the pope or any other human being.

Only Jesus can turn a sinner into a saint. We cannot save ourselves or other people and, the entire notion of "self-help" is utter foolishness. The Bible does not teach that God helps those who help themselves, the so-called Protestant work ethic. Rather, Jesus died to save sinners who cannot help themselves.

The word in Greek translated as "saint" is "hagiois", which means holy. If we ask Jesus to forgive us for our sins, then our sins are covered and in God's eyes, we are now holy. We are holy in God's eyes because Jesus died on the cross, not because of anything that we have done.

Ephesians 2:8-9 is more accurately translated from the Greek as follows: "For by grace you are saved through faith and this not of yourselves; the gift of God, not out of works so that not anyone might boast."

Only God, through forgiveness of sins in Jesus, can declare someone to be a saint. Peter, who Catholics refer to as the first "pope", was not celibate, nor anything remotely like a pope. Paul, a primary author of the New Testament, refers to himself as "less than the least of all saints" Ephesians 3:8, blowing the modern Catholic Church, with all of its insidious nonsense, clear out of the solar system and beyond.

What part of God "does not live in temples made with hands" do modern Christians fail to understand, as stated twice in Acts Here and Here? And what part of we "are not under the law, but under grace" do modern Christians fail to understand Romans 6:14?

Interesting.....

Let's see what Peter the Saint had to say about his beloved brother Paul who was also a saint.

2 Peter 3: 15 - 16
15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

When you quote things like Roman 6: 14 understand that there are two main laws Paul always talk about and he does not differ between them. You need to look at the context. One law is the Royal Law, the other law is the Law of Animal of Sacrifice. The law we are no longer under is the law of animal sacrifice. I will move on from this point to avoid making my post to long to address your point about Saints.

The bible literally define what a Saint is and somehow you convenietly didn't use it because you want to reinforce not keeping God's commandments??

Revelation 14: 12
12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Saint by DEFNITION is someone who does BOTH the law and have faith in Jesus.

During the time of Paul many Pharisees didn't keep the law and some of them did like Paul, but they had an issue with Jesus because they did not believe on him. In our days we believe in Jesus but we got an issue with the royal law (The ten commandments). You need both together to be considered a Saint. If you only got one then you are not a Saint it's all that simple.

That's why Jesus said if you love me, keep my commandments (John 14: 15). If you love the lawgiver, keep his law. People need to stop lying on Paul just because they want to eat pork and pollute the Sabbath. You can live your life however you want but don't lie on Paul, find someone else either a prophet or another apostle, better yet even Jesus himself who said you don't need to keep the law.

Jesus kept the Sabbath and Paul kept the Sabbath and Paul said to follow me as I follow Christ.

1 Corinthians 11: 1
11 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

You cannot serve the lawgiver if you hate the law neither can you deal with the law if you hate the lawgiver.

John 5: 45 - 47
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.

46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.

47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Moses wrote God's law, Moses don't have no law. So if you have an issue with what Moses wrote you really have an issue with Jesus who gave Moses the law.

Romans, Galatians and Colossians all teach that that believers in Jesus are not under God's law, but under grace. In ii Corinthians, Paul talks about the Old Covenant, God's law and the New Covenant, God's grace. Paul says that those who place themselves back under God's law "have fallen from grace." You are badly mistaken.

“...how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage? You observe days and months and seasons and years. I am afraid for you, lest I have labored for you in vain." -- Galatians 4:8-11

"Stand fast therefore, in the freedom of which Messiah has made us free and, be not entangled with a yoke of bondage." Galatians 5:1

"You have become estranged from Messiah, you who try to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace." -- Galatians 5:4

"But if you are led by the spirit, you are not under the law." -- Galatians 5:18

"For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace." -- Romans 6:14

". . .having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And he has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross." -- Colossians 2:14

"Therefore, if you died with Messiah from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations—'Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,' which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men?" -- Colossians 2:21-22

“.. .but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the spirit;for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life. -- II Corinthians 3:4-6

Well I just quoted Peter and it seems you completely ignore it which is fine. I merely pointed out that Paul does not indicate which law he is referring to.

Paul is speaking to the gentiles who do these things. When you observe times you are dealing with zodiac signs such as Aquarius and Leo. Gentiles worship the sun and the moon which is given by God for seasons and months. The days of the week are named by Gentiles according to the solar system because they worship the host of heaven rather than the one who created them. Once you start walking in God's law you are not suppose to do these things.

Leviticus 19: 26
26 Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.

"Stand fast therefore, in the freedom of which Messiah has made us free and, be not entangled with a yoke of bondage." Galatians 5:1
yoke of bondage is living a life of sin. You cannot commit sin if there is no law. If you break God's royal law something has to die and since Jesus remove the law of animal sacrifice, then the person who sinned that's who will die.
But if you are led by the spirit, you are not under the law." -- Galatians 5:18
The spirit in this context is the word of God. The law you are not under is the law of animal sacrifice.
For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace." -- Romans 6:14
Romans 2: 13
13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

How can you be justified by a law you are no longer under? Right here Paul is speaking of the Royal law because keeping the commandments is righteousness of faith. Why? Because God said if you love me keep my commandments. You either believe God or you don't, all that simple.

Romans 3: 28
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Now Paul is saying here don't keep the law. That is because he is talking about two different laws. If you still don't get it then all you need to do is find someone other than Paul who can justify your position because everyone in this bible including Paul is telling you to keep the commandments.

James 2: 8
8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

Royal law is the 10 commandments, this is the law you are justified by and the justification is......You love GOD!

Romans 7: 12
12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Revelation 22: 14
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

The law is good. But because we are sinners, we are unable to keep the law. I never said that the law is bad and neither does Paul. According to Paul, the law is a school teacher, to teach us that we are sinners and need God's help. Paul goes on to say that once the spirit has come, there is no lnger any more need for a teacher.

The entire New Testament clearly teaches that the fulfilling of the law, is that we "have love, one for another", just like Jesus says in John.

You are very much in error, as putting ourselves under the law or under religious laws, rules, obligations and vain traditions, causes us to fall frm grace. You don't understand the difference between the old covenant, law and the new covenant, grace.

I notice you ignored the verses that say we are not under law but under grace, found in both Romans and Galatians. And Colossians says that Jesus has nailed the law to his cross, that we might walk in freedom, under the new covenant of grace, mercy, love and peace. Under grace, there is no law and we owe people nothing, "but to love one another." He or she who loves their neighbor has fulfilled the law. For this is the end of the law according to Jesus, that we treat other people as we ourselves wish to be treated. Like Jesus says, "for this is the law and the prophets."

The law is good. But because we are sinners, we are unable to keep the law.
So are you saying that Jesus gave us a law and told us to keep it knowing that we can't keep it and then proceed to punish us when we break it??
I never said that the law is bad and neither does Paul. According to Paul, the law is a school teacher, to teach us that we are sinners and need God's help. Paul goes on to say that once the spirit has come, there is no lnger any more need for a teacher.
Well the law of animal sacrifice is what Paul is talking about. It taught you that every time you sin, innocent blood has to be shed. The sheep and goats didn't do anything yet they were killed because someone decided to sleep with someone's wife. Remember you only had to kill them because you sin and what is sin??

Leviticus 4: 1 - 6
1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the commandments of the Lord concerning things which ought not to be done, and shall do against any of them:

The LORD is telling his people what to do when we break the commandments. This is why it's a law. This law was added because of sin. Because we keep breaking God's commandments.

Galatians 3: 19
19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, (It was added because you broke God's commandments so its obvious which law Paul is talking about) till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; (That seed is Christ) and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

If you did not break the Royal law, you wouldn't need to be killing the bulls and goats.

So the lesson we should take from this law is if we break God's commandments something has to die. That's why this scripture exist:

Romans 6: 23
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

So what's the gift? Well I believe you know that it's grace. It's free gift, we didn't do anything to earn this gift. This gift is the precious blood of Jesus. So every time you sin willfully you are crucifying Christ a fresh and if you love Jesus you would not do that willfully. That's why if you sin willfully grace will not cover it, unless of course you earnestly repent and don't do it again. Since sin is the transgression, then the law is still in effect.

Hebrews 6: 6
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Hebrews 10: 26 - 29
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, (Law of animal sacrifice is done and Jesus is not dying for anyone again)

27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Anyone who doesn't want to keep the royal law under the old covenant was stoned to death. Anyone who breaks the royal law under the new covenant is going to get something war worse. Eternal fire and worms eating you. I much rather be stoned than go through this.

I did not ignore any verse, I gave a blanket answer. So I will repeat myself. Paul does not specify what law he is talking about that's why peter warned you of his epistles because every Saint knows you are supposed to keep the commandments and you need the faith of Jesus. The law that was nailed to the cross is the law Jesus gave in Leviticus the 4th chapter. everything that is added because of sin will be removed.
  1. Animal sacrifice was added because of sin
  2. Fringes was added because of sin
  3. Death was added because of sin

So far Jesus has removed the 1st two. After the white throne judgement Death will be removed.

At the risk of sounding redundant find me a prophet and a apostle that teaches you don't need to keep the law. Everything is prophesied so if Jesus was going to do away with the royal law someone would have wrote it. You need 2 or 3 witnesses to establish a fact and that's book. Matthew 18: 16

If you don't agree then that's ok. I share the truth, whether you receive or not is entirely up to you. Have a good day.

Paul does not say "the law of animal sacrifice" and neither does Hebrews. Paul repeatedly teaches we are not under the law of God given to Moses. If you want to fall from grace by placing yourself back under the law, that is your choice, but I'm not going to debate any longer what the Bible clearly teaches:

"You have become estranged from Messiah, you who try to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace." -- Galatians 5:4

"But if you are led by the spirit, you are not under the law." -- Galatians 5:18

"Standfast therefore, in the freedom of which Messiah has made us free and, be not entangled with a yoke of bondage." Galatians 5:1
