Well you have two questions. The first is "I was asking what is the gospel" and that I have answered to you what it is. A gospel is an authentic writing about Jesus - in this case we have four eyewitness accounts.

" what do we believe to save unto eternal life" I think what you mean is "what do we need to be saved for eternal life"

The bottom line is to 1) except Jesus as your lord and savior. This is the most important one and it is the Crux of everything. Crux - the center point.

2) understand that Jesus died for our sins 3) be baptized with water 4) understand and know that Jesus rose from the dead 5) Jesus is God.

Love God with all your heart, love God with all your mind, love God with all your spirit, love God with all your strength

Love your neighbor as yourself.

If you learn of an understand these things and let God settle in your heart you will be saved.

The gospel is the good news. This came from the prophets, then the apostles testified that what the prophets wrote was indeed true. I saw some people saying there are 4 gospels in this thread. There is only one gospel. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are simply giving an account of their experience. Adam sinned against God and because of what he did all mankind was going to be cut off but Jesus came and salvage this creation. That's where salvation came from to salvage something that was ruined. When Jesus told his disciples to preach the gospel all they had were the writings of prophets from Genesis to Malachi. We now have the law and the testimony. The entire bible is teaching the gospel from Genesis to Revelation.

Revelation 19: 10
10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Mark 16: 14 - 15
14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

I know you mean well, but there's no point in making it so complicated for someone asking a simple question.

Most people just stay in Paul's writing because they think Paul is teaching against God's 10 commandments.

We are to follow Paul as he follows Christ
Paul is our apostle
Jesus revealed the formation of the new church, the body of Christ
Jesus gave his commandments, instructions, and doctrine thru Paul

Paul does indeed restate the ten commandments

Doug, that is moving the goalposts. The claim was that baptism is part of Christian discipleship, not that Paul had to use the exact phrase, "Baptism is a public declaration."

Paul clearly baptized converts, approved of baptism, and never taught believers to stop baptizing. If your position were correct, Paul's own practice would contradict it.

Repeating that baptism is mentioned in one context and not emphasized in another does not prove two gospels. To prove two gospels, you would need to show two different ways of salvation.

Paul preached the same Christ, the same cross, the same resurrection, and the same salvation by faith. Different emphases do not create different gospels.

Paul's baptism arent pertinant

Paul's baptisms are absolutely pertinent because your argument is that baptism separates Paul's gospel from that of Jesus and the apostles.

If Paul himself baptized converts, then baptism cannot be the dividing line you claim it is. You cannot dismiss evidence simply because it disproves your conclusion.

By emphasis I mean one writer may focus on a particular aspect of ministry without excluding other aspects.

For example, Paul emphasizes preaching in 1 Corinthians 1:17, yet the same chapter shows that he baptized people. Therefore, emphasizing preaching does not mean baptism disappeared, just as mentioning baptism elsewhere does not create a different gospel.

Paul states it clearly in 1 Cor 15:1-4: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. Paul also said, "I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified" (1 Corinthians 2:2).

Salvation, which is our reconciliation and reunification with God, is through Jesus Christ alone. There has never been another Savior, another cross, or another way for sinners to be made right with God. Anyone gifted saving faith by the Holy Spirit 1 Cor 12:3 will be able to call Jesus Lord and believe He was raised from the dead Rom 10:9 and will be saved from their sins.

Rom 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

The apostles agreed with Paul, not opposed him. In Galatians 2, they extended to him the right hand of fellowship, and in Acts 15 they confirmed the same message of salvation by God's grace. Different ministries do not create different gospels. There is one Christ, one cross, one resurrection, and one gospel.
