So you are going against the scriptures I gave about Jesus, or are you agreeing with them?
You said it was about Jesus but then applied below is about the sinner dying to sins?
Do you agree that when a person comes to Jesus to be saved they have to die to the sins of the world, which is about repenting from SINS?
If you were really quoting scripture about Jesus, you would testify of our hope in Him so that sinners can hope in Him as well that He will destroy the works of the devil in our lives and He will help us to abide in His words as His disciples so that we shall be set free from sin at salvation & remain free from sin daily as He helps us to follow Him.
1 John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning.
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
What is His purpose to do for the sinner at the latter end of verse 8 above?
2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
Do you see the job of the Good Shepherd above or not?
Then why do you believe man was the one that began a good work in us?
Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
8 For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.
11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
Behold what discipleship as in running that race is all about.
John 8:30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Who set you free from sin at salvation? The sinner or Jesus Christ? How do we follow Him as His disciples to be free from sin by aboding in His words? Us by doing the best we can or by faith in Jesus Christ?
John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
That is why we look to Him to help us lay aside every weight & sin as we are to live by faith in Jesus Christ for how we obey Him in following Him.
Hebrews 12:1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
