How Was Paul As Saul Called to be Saved?

You can add this to the Gumbo:
And I read what another “Apostle” said; with Boldness!:eyes:

New American Standard Bible
So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”:joy:

In other words; Thomas might was saying, I don’t care how he walks how he talks, or how he quotes scripture, or look like JESUS!

I am Not going to believe, until ff.:eyes:

26[f]Eight days later His discipleswere again inside, and Thomaswas with them. Jesus *came, the doors having been [g]shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be to you.” 27Then He *said to Thomas, “Place your finger here, and see My hands; and take your hand and put it into My side; and do not continue in disbelief, but be a believer.” :joy:

Yes he was not empowered to repent prior .
Nor could he repent from all sin either. The sin he was committing, he was still bent on doing until the Lord revealed Himself to Saul to enable him to repent from unbelief by believing in Him
Yes that parable is prophecy Like all. .. to the law and its witness of two works of turning empowered by the Holy Spirit .

Jerimiah 31: 18:19 I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; (God doing the first work of turning ) for thou art the Lord my God.Surely after that I was turned,(by God) I repented; and after that I was instructed,(by God) I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.

Jeremiah 31:18 I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the Lord my God. 19 Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.

Okay. I can see God at work in turning a sinner to repentance but citing it as the law of repentance that you had paraphrased earlier would suggest the law on emphasizing what sinners are to do rather than on what God is enabling sinners to do. So clarity was needed there and I thank you for that clarification & I agree with it since I believe our believing in Jesus Christ is a work of the Father since no man can come to the Son unless the father draws him John 6:44 & reveal His son to us so we can believe in him to be saved Matthew 11:25-25. So in essence, the Father literally gives us to the Son for the Son to save us by His enabling us in believing in Him. John 6:37-40

Calling the foolish back according to the hearing of faith as shown in the law (Jerimiah 31)

Galatians 3: 1-3 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
After salvation and even at the time of salvation, some looks to keeping that commitment to Christ as the assurance of salvation which is what Billy Graham's apostate altar call is all about and why Billy Graham would doubt Jesus would receive him because he was not always a good Christian as stated in his interview with Tony Snow below, thus judging himself by that commitment for why he had no assurance of salvation.

Tony Snow Interviews Billy Graham

"SNOW: When you get to Heaven, who's going to speak first, you or God?

GRAHAM: When I get there, I'm sure that Jesus is going to say that he
will welcome me. But I think that he's going to say: Well done, our good
and faithful servant. Or he may say: You're in the wrong place.

SNOW: You really worry that you may be told you're in the wrong place?

GRAHAM: Yes, because I have not -- I'm not a righteous man. People put
me up on a pedestal that I don't belong in my personal life. And they
think that I'm better than I am. I'm not the good man that people think
I am. Newspapers and magazines and television have made me out to be a
saint. I'm not. I'm not a Mother Teresa. And I feel that very much."

If Billy Graham simply stuck with the gospel he had preached earlier....

'It is not going to church every Sunday that is going to save you. It is not by keeping the ten commandments that is going to save you. It is all those who call upon the name of the Lord!" <--- the gospel, right?

His altar call which is the opposite of the gospel he had preached; "If you are not sure you are saved, come forward and make a commitment to follow Christ." <--- say what?!!!

For his altar call to align with the gospel he had preached, he should have said, "If you are not sure you are saved, if you have called upon the name of the Lord, believe you are saved ! Trust Him now as your Good Shepherd to help you to follow Him daily by His words." Then pause, ... "if you are not sure you are saved and you have not called upon the name of the Lord yet, then believing in the Lord Jesus Christ and that God has raised Him from the dead you shall be saved as all those who believe in Him shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Many believers are trying to finish by the flesh by keeping that commitment to follow Christ rather than resting in Him & His words to us under the New Covenant that He will do this as our Good Shepherd to help us to follow Him.

May the Lord set them free from that yoke of bondage to see how and why His yoke is easy & His burden is light in order for them to find rest for their souls that they are saved simply for believing in Jesus Christ and they can follow Him daily by believing Him to be our Good Shepherd.

The Galatians were called foolish because they were saved by repenting and believing in Jesus purifying them and they were then later talked into doing the old law's purification works!
The Galatians were talked into it by some Jews who didn't believe Jesus does the purifying now.
We don't do the purifying anymore, but JESUS DOES.
It doesn't mean we don't obey God anymore!
It means we don't have to get circumcised in the flesh and sacrifice animals!

Just read what the Galatians were being rebuked by Paul for doing!
They were observing the Jews special days and going to get circumcised in the flesh!

The Galatians account is the calling back to repentance. Like the Revelation 2 account in regard to the Nicolaitan sect. Calling her according to the first love, the first experience of repenting called the hearing of faith God working with us turning us towards himself . Like the foolish Galatians . Remember a fool say their is no God in there heart .The religion of Atheism. No faith that alone comes by hearing God's understanding freely given to us. In both case they were looking to the flesh of their leaders , Gods name which is Jealous proves to us his Love is not jealous.

The same kind of foolishness with the Nicolaitanes

Revelation2: 4-7 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; (Believe God) ) or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

In that way we receive the end of our new born again faith from the first hearing the salvation of our souls they loked loked ahead tothe propmised glory weloofback by the same spirt of faith as it is written.

Beautiful parable below

1 Peter 1 :8-11 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

The ceremonial law, count how many times in Galatians it says works of "the flesh" (circumcision). In fact count how how many times it says circumcized and circimcision, that's really what the whole book is about.
The moral law still applies.

1Cor 7:19; Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the commandments of God.

1Jn 3:24; The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and Christ abides in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

Matt 19:17; And He said to him, "Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments."

1Jn 2:4; The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;

John 15:10; "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.

The Galatians were saved by repenting of their sins and believing, but Judaizers convinced them to get circumcised and observe special days.

Paul rebukes the Galatians for thinking they have to do the old purification works of the law instead of just believing that Jesus purifies us of the sins we repent of doing.

The Galatians had fallen from grace and had to have Jesus formed in them all over again.

Paul is NOT rebuking the Galatians for obeying Jesus too much and doing the moral laws.
That would be insane to think that Paul was rebuking them for obeying God too much with the moral teaching, see 2 Peter 3:17,. 17.

Anything that is not of the unseen faith of Christ as it is written is sin .

Regardless of what the sin was they were called foolish no God in their hearts. Its the condition of a unbeliever. God does all the work of repentance ( turning us). From
the first hearing of faith till the last . If he has begun the good work of salvation he will finish it .

He is our confidence or living hope . No power is attributed to dying flesh and blood.

Paul addressed them as fellow believers for being foolish to try to finish by the flesh what was begun in the Spirit.

Galatians 3:1O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? 2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? 4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.

5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. 7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. 9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Just as @God's Truth should recognize that we are saved by simply believing in Jesus Christ. If we did not begin His work in us by repenting from all sins first before getting saved, then we certainly cannot finish it by the flesh by keeping a commitment to follow Christ. We are saved by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ and that God has raised Him from the dead and now saved, we can follow Him by believing Jesus Christ to be our Good Shepherd to help us to follow Him daily.

Since in another thread the knowledge of good and evil is unbelief in God & His words, then salvation is simple as the fall was, by repenting rom unbelief by believing in Jesus Christ & His words that we are saved by believing in Him, thus obeying the gospel.

As it is Saul was not seeking God for he believed he was serving God in killing Christians, and yet Christ intervened anyway. Anaias did not ask Saul to repent from all sins first but did as the Lord had asked of him to pray for his sight to be restored and receive the Holy Ghost now that the Lord had revealed Himself to Saul for why Saul now believed afterwards.

Sorry, but I am confirming the truth anything to include ceremonial laws (not of the power of Christ faith is sin ). Yoked with him our burden is lighter .

Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

And I do understand we are ONLY TURNED by God IF WE OBEY HIM. The hearing of faith or hearing that causes a person to turn and believe God not seen gives us the power to obey . Without him you or I can do nothings.

It why he calls us of "little faith" the golden measure he gives us. He is the storeroom of power .

John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

No die no life. You have to crucify yourself from sin. You have to die to the sins of the world. No die then no born again.

Romans 6:6 We know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.

Colossians 3:3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

That is insane to believe Paul fasted and prayed for three days after his encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus, but did not repent for his sins! Paul says of himself that he was a violent man and had men and women dragged out their homes and approved of their deaths.
You claim he only asked for his eye sight back! You also claim that Paul only believed after he got his eye sight back! You have no fear to say such things?

Yes he makes our burdens "lighter", but not non-existant.
The Holy Spirit is our "helper", but not our replacement.

Have you ever noticed how many times Jesus says.. "YOUR" faith is what makes something happen (or not happen as the case may be). This isn't a complete list by the way.

Matt 9:22 But Jesus turning and seeing her said, "Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well." At once the woman was made well.
Matt 9:29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, "It shall be done to you according to your faith."
Matt 15:28 Then Jesus said to her, "O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish." And her daughter was healed at once.
Matt 17:20 And He *said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.
Mark 2:5 And Jesus seeing their faith *said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven."
Mark 5:34 And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be healed of your affliction."
Mark 10:52 And Jesus said to him, "Go; your faith has made you well." Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him on the road.
Luke 5:20 Seeing their faith, He said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven you."
Luke 7:50 And He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."
Luke 8:25 And He said to them, "Where is your faith?" They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, "Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?"
Luke 8:48 And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace."
Luke 17:19 And He said to him, "Stand up and go; your faith has made you well."
Luke 18:42 And Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has made you well."

The opposite is true also.

Matt 13:58; And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.

I would say it's closer to the truth to say Jesus/God won't do anything without us.
Now of course He is God, He can do do whatever He wants (with or without us).
But as a rule, it's our faith (or lack of) that makes things happen or not happen.
