Heaven after hell?

Member
If people are in hell for eternity, why would they get out on Judgement Day only to be recast into hell? Could some of them have learned their lesson or been punished enough and be judged differently? Maybe they just fell short and have served their time?

Hell -- is the 'holding place' until they get to the great White Throne Judgement -- and then they go to their Final place for eternity / the lake of fire and brimstone. Those are different places and times.

So on Judgement day everyone does not show up with a fair chance of heaven?

We make our choice NOW. After that -- if a person dies without accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Savior -- there are no second chances.

Our 'fair chance of heaven' is Not based on our good works. It Is based on accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Savior or Not doing that.

Relying on our 'good' works will get us a one-way ticket to hell. As per Ephesians 2:8 - 9 "not of works, lest any one should boast" -- it's where we place our Faith that matters.

What does " accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior" entail? Verbally announcing that He is your God and baptism? Trusting and loving Him with all your heart? Repentance and sincerity? How can anyone NOT do and feel those things? How can people choose anything but Jesus? I don't get it. I met a nice enough guy not too long ago and he shook my hand and said " Hi, are you a Christian?" I said "Well actually yes, yes I am! Are you?" I was about to enjoy fellowship with this guy, and he smiled and casually says," No, I'm a satan worshipper." GULP...in my head ' WWJD? WWJD? WWJD?'
I said, " Well that is very interesting, you know Jesus loves you anyways. Remember that. I've gotta get going." get away !get away! Begone!

was not expecting that! people can say what they would've done different but when the energy shifts, you just react.

No friend it's not a drama. Jesus hates it when someone declares he/she loves Jesus but actually not have any feeling for Him. Actually it's an hypocrisy. The truth is every thing in this world has two surface good or bad. When we choose good we worship God, when we choose bad we worship Satan because we do what they say. And yes choosing good doesn't solely include good works only but it actually means the WILL OF GOD. Because God is good.
Seriously I was in heavy depression, and I eventually discovered Jesus is the only way to life.. Words cannot describe how I was being relieved by Him.
And yes, no one can do it unless he feel it.

This thread opens with "heaven after hell?" God's Word says it's Either heaven or hell -- not experiencing hell and then being able to go to heaven.

So - what does "accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior" entail? According to Scripture we are all sinners and the wages of sin is death -- but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. A person needs to acknowledge their need For salvation. A person can have a lot of knowledge about God / Bible but they need to have that in their heart. 1 Corinthians 15 -- to be saved -- believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died and was buried and rose again bodily on the 3rd day. And Romans 10: 9-10 it is the belief in the heart and confession made unto salvation. Thanking God for His gift of salvation. Accepting it. Personally.

Baptism by immersion is to let other people 'see' what you already believe in your heart that Jesus Christ has already done for you. And your desire to live a life pleasing to Him.

In answer to your other questions. There Is the influence of satan in our lives -- he does not want anyone To be saved. He wants salvation to Look boring and not interesting. So there is / will be an inner conflict taking place -- good vs evil. But a believer has the Holy Spirit helping us to over-come the bad things. Satan knows that he will be in lake of fire and brimstone eventually for eternity. And he wants all the company he can get to be there with him. The 'company' being people.
So he makes sinfulness look really good. But that only lasts for now. It's temporary.

@DieAmartyr -- you were asking 'so What does accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior' entail. Did your question get answered from what I shared back?

Yes to an extent except that I don't think Satan's goal is to have our company- it is more about preventing us from gaining what he feels should rightfully belong to him that we ' minions' are unworthy of. He sees us as an inferior race, stupid and gullible. Small and petty. So far many of us have proven him right and made his work fairly easy. What gets me are these ignorant celebrities, trading their souls for 15 minutes of fame and a couple trinkets and how mankind idolizes these people in envy when there is nothing in this world I would trade my soul for ( and I pray that I am not.) I do struggle with an addiction that I am trying to gain control over. It convicts me night and day but I am striving for holiness continually otherwise. I know it's one or the other, but...

Therefore I say unto you, all manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men, but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.. Matthew 12:31

If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life—to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. There is sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for that. All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that does not lead to death1 John 5:16-17

I do not know what these passages mean completely but they give me hope.

Well -- whatever satans goal is -- what questions do You still have? We All struggle with something -- that doesn't mean we aren't Really born again. No one will be perfect while here on earth. But , as a born again believer, we Do have the Holy Spirit to help us in those problem areas. He's working with me in a particular area.

Thank you. I feel He is working with me, but He is very quiet. Where other people say that " God told me to do this or that," God does not speak to me like that, or audibly where I hear Him so I don't know if I am doing something wrong.

Rationalising hell and punishment is good. We must be do it. Christians can judge matters 1 Cor 6:1-9. Definitely sentencing. God will not do anything we disagree with.

The thought of sending people to heaven after a period of hell is logical and rational. One would think after paying a price for their sin and being sufficiently rehabilitated they be accepted into heaven. Even God would agree with that.

However, there is some essential scriptures that need to be considered.

Jesus says of the devil that he has been sinning from the beginning 1 John 3:8. He has never wanted to repent and turn from his ways.

If we read of the plagues in revelations that will hit the earth during the tribulation, we see the words '''they repented not''' after many of them. If mankind would '''repent'' God would stop the plagues and try work with them. So, the fact that many do simply not want to repent needs to be clear in our minds.

God who searches hearts and minds at depths nobody can Jer 17:9 does not make the ''mistake'' of sending someone to an eternal hell who may one-day desire true repentance. Scripture says in John 3:19 that those who reject Jesus, do so because they love the darkness.

There are certainly levels of evil among those in hell, but one thing they all have in common is their love of the darkness which results in an impossibility to ever truly repent and hate it.

The only thing that separates us who get to heaven is the fact that we do repent. If our repentance is not sincere, we too may find ourselves in hell one-day. That is why Paul urges us to continue working out our salvation in fear and trembling Phil 2:12.

@KingJ -- what do you mean by "God will not do anything we disagree with"?

No one is going to 'love' being in hell. Once a person Gets there -- of Course they'll want out -- but they will be Staying there Forever.

How about This -- God's Word is the authority -- we are to agree with That.

"The thought of sending people to heaven after a period of hell is logical and rational". That sounds a lot like the RCC belief in purgatory. But that certainly Not Scriptural.

So -- a period of time in hell is supposed to 'sufficiently rehabilitate' a person to be acceptable for heaven. NOT Biblical.

Maybe you should reconsider what Scripture is Really Saying.

Revelation 20:10
And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Matthew 25:41
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

You read into what is said and reply as though you did not read what was said. I can only discuss with you if you quote me.

Thank you for quoting me here. This I can reply to as I actually said that.

What I mean is that God is not unpredictable for a Christian. He says He is good Psalm 136:1 and righteous in all His ways Psalm 145:17.

As such we can relax and know that if a good person judges and discerns a certain way, God will do that and better. There will never be a conflict between a good person and God. We see this with Abraham reasoning the destruction of Sodom with God in Gen 18.

@KingJ -- how about 'this' Romans -- for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. And the wages of sin is death,

Our righteousnesses are like filthy rags to God. Ephesians 2 :8-9 "not of works lest any man should boast".

A person can 'land' on a few Scriptures that say what "he" wants to hear, and ignore the rest of Scripture. That's what you tend to do.

How about the passage that says that our hearts are easily deceived and desperately wicked. That does not mean that everyone is gong to be an axe murderer. But we All have the leanings towards sin. Because 'for All have sinned'.

And, of Course you actually type what you mean to say. No one puts words in your mouth. If you really believe what you're saying -- then you are living in a spiritual 'bubble' of your own making.

Everyone Deserves hell / the future lake of fire and brimstone -- no one Deserves eternity with God / heaven. But God shows His love towards us --in that -- while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. We didn't have to do anything to deserve the cross of Christ. We're not told to 'clean up our act' in order to benefit from the blood of Christ. We're Far more inclined to Be 'dirty rotten sinners' Than to be 'good people' in God's eyes.

God destroyed Sodom and Gohmorrah. -- Genesis 19 follows chapter 18. // 19vs 24 -- the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah and vs 29.

As I have said many times to you Sue, I would greatly appreciate it if you would quote me.

You make so many false assumptions. Sometimes I think you are talking to someone else. I have to remind myself that you are talking to me.

@KingJ -- Maybe it's that you don't like being 'called on' what you're saying. You took the events of the one chapter and didn't bother to read the next chapter. It's call the context of the passage. Makes a lot of difference. There Are those who believe that when they use the KJV -- Anything they do With that version will be correct -- simply because it Is the King James Version.
