Ephesians 2: 8-9 You are saved by Grace, no works or actions of men ( Water Baptism ) required. Water Baptisms require many actions of man to succeed. GOD said no works, unless you could boast....He said His Grace was sufficient and man's efforts are like dirty rags to Him!

Whatever you say Born again, I'm sure you know best.

I know nothing, it is the Gospel, believe
it or not ! You can be saved in or out of water, why should I go along with another who believes differently!

Jesus our Saviour went down to the Jordan specifically to be baptised by John the Baptist. Later he waylaid the apostle Paul on the road to Damascus, took his sight away and sent him to straight street to the house of Judas, where he was to meet, a disciple named Ananias. Ananias was called, in a vision to go to straight street where he would meet a man from Tarsus called Saul. Ananias had heard of Saul and questioned God because he had heard Saul was persecuting Christians, but God explained to him Saul had been chosen to take the gospel to the Gentiles. Ananias did as he was told, laid hands on Saul and restored his sight scales fell from Saul's eyes and he got up and was baptised. The first thing he did.
So, 'born again', Our Saviour was baptised, our Apostle Paul was baptised but 'born again' doesn't believe it is relevant, who do you think I should take notice of, our Saviour and our Apostle or 'born again'? Bless you

If you noticed, I always said your saved in or out of water. I never said water baptism was bad or one could not be saved during Water Baptism
I am a proponent of being saved by Grace , from God , which I have said, as often as I could, that this happens inside or outside of water! ...I believe that many are saved with out water baptism, they are saved when they are born a second time by the Spirit of God....sarcasm never needed!

Nobody is saved until the day of judgement, anyone can go astray from obeying God and fall from His grace (meaning favor).
Many people preach you can be saved without doing God's commandments, living a holy and sanctified life in strict obedience unto His will
but that is simply not true. That is why we are told in Matthew 7:14 that few will be saved. That is why Jesus Himself said that the
unprofitable servant will be cast into out darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

You thinking this can determine your fate and it does not mean save. So, let's look at God's Comandments....a real lofty goal or standard to live by, but if you fail any of the commandments, just once, 24/7, you failed to meet the standard, James 2:10

@Butch5

Greetings,

following along with that which you have shared thus far regarding the discussion recorded in the Gospel of John Chapter 3, does and/or can 'born again' [born from above] be likened to being saved?

====================

As this discussion/thread is Born again and Baptism, What's the connection? , should we be able to or should we/can we tie 'saved' into either Born Again and/or Baptism?
Perhaps this can help with the question here, " What's the connection? " for those interested.

Bless you ....><>
Hi Br Bear,

I think it is the same. Jesus said one must be born of water and the Spirit. I believe this is what John refers to as being born of God. For the Gentile it is the first birth and for the Jew it is the second. I do believe this is what most people regard as being saved. I believe the connect to baptism is right in that passage. Being born of water is water baptism. The early Christian writings are replete with statements about the salvific nature of water baptism. Jesus himself say the one who believes and is baptized shall be saved. I believe the two are intrinsically linked. Paul too links water baptism with being saved.

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (Tit. 3:5 KJV)

The word translated washing in this passage is loutron and it literally means a bath. It should be translated the bath of regeneration. In his book, "Against Heresies" book 1 Irenaeus wrote,

Chapter 21. — The views of redemption entertained by these heretics.

1. It happens that their tradition respecting redemption is invisible and incomprehensible, as being the mother of things which are incomprehensible and invisible; and on this account, since it is fluctuating, it is impossible simply and all at once to make known its nature, for every one of them hands it down just as his own inclination prompts. Thus there are as many schemes of “redemption” as there are teachers of these mystical opinions. And when we come to refute them, we shall show in its fitting-place, that this class of men have been instigated by Satan to a denial of that baptism which is regeneration to God, and thus to a renunciation of the whole [Christian] faith. Early Church Fathers - – Ante-Nicene Fathers: The Writings of the Fathers Down To A.D. 325.

"Nobody is saved until judgment day" Thank you! That comes from studying the whole of Scripture.

You ignore what Jesus told Nicodemus right after the"Born of water and Spirit "comment He said: "Flesh gives birth to flesh and Spitit gives birth to spirit"....could you please explain this?

Butch....did you not say in #228 of this thread that " you must be born of water and spirit"....what does water mean to you?

Dave, I disagree with your sheep/goats analogy. Quite simple, sheep are believers and goat unbelievers. When God separates us, Sheep go to the right or Heaven And the goats go to left or Hell.

Butch5, then the answer is yes! You did not answer my question, when Jesus told Nicodemus about the water / spirit comment....why did He immediately follow up with flesh gives birth to flesh and Spirit gives birth to spirit.

Because Nicodemus misunderstood him. Nicodemus thought He was talking about entering into the womb again. He wasn't, He was talking about being born of the breath or spirit.

Right "Water" in the first birth and Spirit the second. Follow the flow of the conversation...they were already talking about a Mother's Womb. Jesus was explaining two births, one from the Womb(water) and one from the Holy Spirit...flesh to flesh..
and spirit to spirt.
