For centuries God fearing, granddaddies, deacons, pastors smoked and god fearing grandmothers chew Tobacco, and used something call “snuff” they put under their bottom lip. And a lot preachers smoke those big fat cigars and grandma smoke “stogies”

Yep and times have moved on... And we must all now be more politically correct... even Christians...

I think the point I was trying to make was, if it benefits me and helps our agenda it is ok. Now that seems to be the way of modern day Christianity.

This thread is about smoking.
So let's stop the comparisons to caffeine intake
And the talk about "modern day lax Christian standards"
They are all topics in their own right.

As a health care professional I have seen first hand the effects of tobacco on the body. I have seen the effects of passive smoking on children.
It is addictive, it is damaging.

On a personal level I have witnessed a wife destroyed by her husband's habit, her husband's idol.....tobacco. This man would rather buy his tobacco supplies than support his wife financially.

Smoking ......does it glorify the Lord.....No
Does it glorify our bodies....No

Stop standing up for and excusing a filthy smelly habit that kills.

No one even actually adressed my first point in all of this... Smoking was around when the bible was being written but it doesn't even get a mention.. I just think a lot of modern Christians want to say somethings a sin that they don't personally like.. I don't like uneven paths .. you can trip and fall on them.. They must be a sin too... nicotine has a lot of health benefits... where as caffeine had absolutely NONE,!!! ....The stimulatory effects of high caffeine intake may cause your heart to beat faster. It may also lead to altered heartbeat rhythm, called atrial fibrillation, which has been reported in young people who consumed energy drinks containing extremely high doses of caffeine .... But no one here will say drinking coffee is a sin .. or is even wrong doing.... you people need to get a grip like... Smoking help memory staves of things like Parkinson's disease and has a lot of other health benefits .. sure it also has some bad side effects like most things do.... But caffeine has no health benefits and is pretty much just deadly poison ..... But no one here will say drinking coffee is a bloody sin.. unless your a Mormon of course lol....

By the post, I perceived he is not talking about really smoking. It is about the church choose which sin it wants to attack, but the sin that send people to Hell is ignored . sins that is written plainly in “Holy Scripture”. You see someone smoking in turn your nose up at that, but we will say “fornicators” you smile at, you entertain them you eat with them, God word says: plainly if brother or sister is such , no fellowship with them, don’t even eat with them

People just want to decide for themselves what is and isn't a sin. Don't put words into the lords mouth. He is the alpha and the omega.. if he objected to smoking that bad dont you think he would have said something? Or do you doubt that he is the alpha and the omega..... All knowing all powerful and all wize?

He can speak for himself and does a very good job of doing just that.... all his words are in the bible.. you dont have to speak for him he has an almighty voice!
