In my experience, every denomination has individual churches that range from a spirit-filled blessings to dysfunctional bin-fires. The name on the front door isn't going to help you much. Strong biblical teaching is important, but more important is finding a group of people who are devoted to following Jesus, and will encourage you to do the same.I want to be in the right church denomination while im young.. That's why I'm very likely changing churches myself. I love the people there, especially the music minister who has been instrumental in helping me restore my faith. Problem is there's about zero evangelism going on, very little solid bible teaching, very little fellowship other than on Sunday mornings, and to top it all off too many liberal minded people who not long ago went "open and affirming." We just had a lesbian pastor leave. She was the worse pastor I've ever encountered. She even said once that "I don't believe Christ had to be crucified, I believe he could have died of old age and we'd still all be saved."In my experience, every denomination has individual churches that range from a spirit-filled blessings to dysfunctional bin-fires. Well -- being born-again does not make anyone sinless. But when we Do find ourself sinning, we do have the privilege to take it to the Lord in prayer and ask forgiveness. Everyone sins to some extent -- getting upset with the neighbors dog for barking at night and keeping us awake. There are plenty of times that inappropriate thoughts get into our heads and we dwell on them. A co-worker who's a pain to work with -- or the political debates taking place presently.
A church that is local where we can use our spiritual gifts / be an encourager to others -- teaches God's Word is the main thing, though. A church doesn't Have to be casting out demons Or having speaking in tongues or having people prophesying. If those things Are taking place -- it needs to be done in God's name / following God's guidelines.
And, yes, there Is a lot of fellowshipping in Forums like this -- but in addition To 'this' is the need To meet face to face with people and share God's Word / worship together. And depending on a person's geographical location -- the time and place is determined By the particular situation.
And, yes, absolutely -- reading, studying God's Word for spiritual growth , discernment, making the right choices. And, being human, we're Not always going to make the right choices. So - we regroup and go on. Life Can be very thorny.
Hebrews 10:25 "not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching ".
During Jesus's time of ministry on earth -- He was the one casting out demons and He also did give that ability to a few chosen men.
We are also told to not mess around with the spirit world -- as in juiji boards -- because that can put a person in touch With the spirit world and That is dangerous.
We can make the Best impact by sharing the Gospel unto salvation with all who will listen.
We have the Lord's Super and baptism by immersion that are local church activities.
And we have 1 Corinthains 14:26 - 40. Order in church meetings.
And i Timothy 3:1 - 13 -- Qualifications for biships/ elders of a church. And for deacons.
The New Testament assumes the local church exists. And we also have the universal church. And, yes the Bride of Christ --all born-again believers.
