I know not everyone believe this, but ...
first let me say I believe in the Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Spirit.
But even though I believe this... there is a hierarchy in the God-head.
The Holy Spirit doesn't really bring attention to Himself.
John 15:26; "When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me,
The Spirit testifies about Jesus, not Himself.
John 16:13 But when the Friend comes, the Spirit of the Truth, he will take you by the hand and guide you into all the truth there is. He won't draw attention to himself, but will make sense out of what is about to happen and, indeed, out of all that I have done and said.
The Spirit glorifies Jesus, not Himself.
The Spirit does nothing on His own accord. He doesn't even speak unless He is told to.
John 16:13; "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
John 16:14; "He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.
The Spirit goes where Jesus sends Him.
John 16:7; "But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.
I could go a little further and say even though the Holy Spirit is subject to Jesus,... Jesus was subject to the Father, and will be again.
John 5:19; Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.
John 8:28; So Jesus said, "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and I do nothing on My own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught Me.
After Jesus was resurrected more authority was given to Him.... (for a while)
Matt 28:18; And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
But eventually He will give this authority back to the Father, and again be subject to to the Father.
1 Cor 15:24; then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power.
1 Cor 15:25; For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.
1 Cor 15:26; The last enemy that will be abolished is death.
1 Cor 15:27; For HE HAS PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET. But when He says, "All things are put in subjection," it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him.
1 Cor 15:28; When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.
Even now, what is the purpose of Jesus.... to get us to Himself? No... to get us to the Father.
John 14:6; Jesus *said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
John 4:21; Jesus *said to her, "Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
John 4:23; "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.
So while it may not be wrong to "worship" the Holy Spirit, I believe His real purpose is to draw us to Jesus.
It certainly isn't wrong to worship Jesus, but His purpose is to get us to the Father.
