When is our Lord Jesus physically coming back again to earth as He promised and in what manner?

When is our Lord Jesus physically coming back again to earth as He promised and in what manner?

It was believed by many living in the time of our Lord that He would physically come back in like manner as He ascended. We know that He is now in heaven seated next to Father God and is coming back to earth again.

Acts 1:11 “ Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into: heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”

Col 3:1 “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.”

We know Jesus had/has a resurrected body that could be touched, seen and sensed. Thus Jesus rose from the dead in the very same physical body in which He died. However it was more than just the old body that had biologically died on the cross it was/is a resurrected, glorified physical/spiritual body. He was/is more than a spirit and also at the same time more than a flesh and blood body like we have while alive and kicking.

Therefore we could deduce that Jesus has a resurrected, glorified, physical, spiritual body and He is coming back again in this very body riding triumphantly and furiously on a white horse with a mighty flaming sword to pummel the nations as King of kings and Lord of lords and rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the wine press of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. Rev 19:11-16

And so we now need to find out when will this happen? Lets go to the very words of our Lord Jesus who said in Matt 10:23 “ for TRULY, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

And

"27For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. 28T TRULY, I say to you, there are some STANDING HERE who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom. (Matt. 16:27–28)"

And

"33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. 34 TRULY, I say to you, THIS generation will not pass away until all these things take place. (Matt. 24:33–34)"

It has been nearly 2,000 years since Jesus left earth, and many today wonder why he has taken so long to return. They also wondered in the time of Jesus as well because they were expecting Jesus at any moment - at least while the first generation was still alive. They thought that they were living in the end times.

" Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour." 1 John 2:18

“ Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened."
Matt. 24:34; Mark 13:30; Luke 21:32 and similar predictions in five other places in the Gospels; Mark 9:1, Mark 13:30, Matt 24:34, Luke 9:27, Luke 21:32.

It was believed that He would have returned within their lifetimes to set up his earthly kingdom. The apostles also taught this ( James 5:7-8, 1 Peter 4:7, Revelation 22:12), with Paul even denigrating marriage as it were because the end was so near ( 1 Corinthians 7:25-31). The trouble was that with each year that passed, people got anxious and impatient. They did not lose faith and so when Jesus did not physically come back as they expected Peter tells us that

“you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.”… But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:3-4, 8-9

The second coming of Christ has been expected in every generation since that day and even now we are waiting expectantly with great longing and desire and groaning. On May 14, 1948, the Jews’ 2,000-year-old dream of the rebirth of Israel became a reality, as a United Nations charter granted them partial control of Jerusalem.

Israel’s miraculous rebirth has set the stage for the coming of the Messiah which requires the Jews to dwell in Jerusalem. Nearly six million Jews now live in the land God promised to Abraham. In one century, Israel has exploded from virtual non-existence into a nation that dominates the world’s headlines.

So could he come today, tomorrow, next week, next year, next decade, next century, next millennium, NOBODY KNOWS BUT THE FATHER IN HEAVEN.

I was thought that the generation after the budding of the fig tree (which refered to the birth of Israel in 1948) would be the one that Jesus came back. What is a generation in years? 25, 50, 75. Still Jesus has not come back. Why?

So must i talk to myself? Anybody on this site know anything about this topic. Other than telling me i am cheery picking, sowing discord. Or is this an echo chamber that leads to intellectual inbreeding?

Did someone actually accuse you of sowing discord? Well, Sir; You've pretty much described how it will happen...What more to be said? If Jesus is late by your reckoning, it's no doubt because of His mercy...giving a last chance to the last to choose Him, and His salvation.

Hi -- I just found 'this' -- how about This -- He will come back in His timing -- not ours.

You've pretty much been answering your own question.

Since we're still Here and He hasn't come back yet. I'm assuming that means 'we' still have people to encourage / share the Gospel unto salvation With, etc.

God's Word says that No one knows when He will return.

This world Is getting messier and messier to live in. So -- maybe 'we' should make sure we're sharing a positive example of Christ with our lives so others will be drawn to Him.

Not late by my reckoning. By our Lord Jesus. What about coming back in HIS generation is confusing.

"27For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. 28T TRULY, I say to you, there are some STANDING HERE who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom. (Matt. 16:27–28)"

My OP has dozens of verses saying basicly the same thing. So no one can say i am cheery picking.

And If God was withholding judgment to allow people time to repent, then he would have to put a freeze on human reproduction because otherwise, there will always be a percentage of people who haven’t had enough time to repent, no matter what the cut-off date for all to get a chance to be saved, population growth will have to cease. Maybe some evil scientist is working on that right now.

Thank you for responding. At least you face things head on. Most run and hide under the pew. You said " His time"- Yep - no arguments there - Yet His time as stated by our Lord is to come back with His angels in His generation which was nearly 2000 years ago.. My OP with dozens of verses relates to that.

Yet all the big guns on this site say our Lord was mistaken. Actually nope they say nothing. They are boycotting this post.

There have been other times in the Bible where God was 'late'. You need to find them and see the results of His being 'late'.

For one thing -- the Lord God has never been or will ever Be mistaken. The fact has always been that We don't know. He talks to Every generation. His Word is timeless. We ARE to be Prepared spiritually.

There have been lots of people who feel 'we' need to know Lots of things. That doesn't mean we actually Need to know 'whatever'.

I'd like to know 'when' I'm going to get over this lousy head / chest cold.

In the Big Picture which God is in charge of -- it's His Big Picture -- He knows when it's time to take the Church out of this world.

Actually -- with the media / internet access / people willing to go where ever God leads them To share / the Gospel unto Salvation gets where ever it needs to get. Everyone who needs to have time to repent will have that time. Trust God for that. During the 7 yrs tribulation -- there will be kids who haven't been old enough To make their own choices -- kids with unsaved parents who are still here. They will have a chance to hear and either accept or reject. Times will be a lot harder. And there will be the 144,000 who will be around evangelizing.

So -- if 'you' feel led to share salvation with others or a specific person, by all means Do.

There are already evil scientists and others working on evil things.

On Face book yesterday or earlier today a lady is trying to encourage those of 70 yrs of age should be euphanized because they are getting dumber and not any use any more. Lands I'm 70 - the lady who cuts my hair is almost 80. Older is Wiser not dumber. Maybe that's the problem -- no one wants us older / Wiser people to teach the younger people Wisdom. And we All need more Godly wisdom.
