You realize you have to obey Jesus to be sent home right ?

Sell everything you have and give it to the poor.
Stop working for money
Stop praying outloud
Give in secret
Call no man on earth Father, and do not use special titles for people .

You have interpreted this scripture incorrectly, .. Jesus himself prayed out loud as did the apostles especially when healing people having supper, learning the lords prayer. The verse you are talking about is speaking of pride and wanting to be seen by others, that is the proper context.

Now if we took it exactly how you are saying to take it, which is out of context, you my freind are guilty of giving away all your stuff and NOT in secrete for you have told us here on TJ about it.

I love your passion for Christ, but your judging people and incorrectly speaking about scripture.

Jesus never says to stop working for money as a matter of fact here is what he says to the wealthy
1 Timothy 6:17-19
As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly lif

God is the one that makes us wealthy so we can help the poor and do good with it. Say right here in scripture. Being content is what the bible teaches, and one can be content poor or wealthy. One can be greedy poor or wealthy

1 Timothy 6 is not Jesus rather it is paul

And indeed Jesus does say that you cannot work for money. Matt 6:24 and luke 16:13

no he does not, he says you can not serve two masters. Jesus is my master and he makes me the master of my money. You see most people let money become there master. You have to learn the difference brother

edit
for the record its all Jesus money we are just stewards of it

Interesting.....These verses say you cannot worship two gods....It says nothing about working...It says nothing about making a living to support a family. I agree with Dave M. Your theology is not lining up with the Word. Especially since you actively reject all the scriptures to the contrary.

You can only serve one or the other, you'll either serve money and hate God. Or serve God and hate money

If you work for money... your master will provide for you , money

If you work for God... You master will provide for you... God

@Chad

No I don't.
Instead I spend my life telling others to obey Jesus.
And as Jesus said, I'm provided for

Wow, I guess the rest of humanity that have jobs and work for money are lost souls?

Oh, Jesus was a carpenter and worked for money.

Jesus himself the said the path is narrow
13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

The vast majority of the world is not...and will not obey the Lord

And the ones who sneered at Jesus saying he was a carpenter were disbelievers

Do you have a job? What does the bible say about working instead of those who are lazy and do not work? Did God not make even Adam Eve work in the garden before the fall?

You make no sense at all. How do you pay your bills? All you're doing is misinterpreting the Scriptures.

"People called Jesus a carpenter (Mark 6:3), and He was known as a carpenter’s son (Matthew 13:55). There is some evidence that the Greek word used for “carpenter” (tekton) could also be translated more broadly as “artisan,” “contractor,” or “handyman.” Was Jesus a carpenter?

Hey, what about tithing? Tithe with money or something else?

It never says to working for money.
Realize the epistles were sent to churches doing as Jesus commanded.
Work by spreading the Gospel (Which is to obey Jesus)
That is the work
Not working for money for material things

Tithe ?
Jesus doesnt want 10%
Nor a one day a week for an hour

Jesus expects all...everything

Luke 14:33 He who does not forsake all that he has cannot be his disciple
You cannot be a christian without being a disciple
Acts 11:26
and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.

In order to be a disciple ...Luke 14:33

Wrong.

2 Corinthians 9:6-7
The Cheerful Giver
6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

You won't be able to use Paul to contradict Jesus

Paul himself says that if he or angel gives a different gospel , let them be damned in Gal 1

There is a growing movement around the world doing as Jesus commanded

Oh, Jesus was a carpenter and worked for money.
Don't forget Paul who made tents for money. I guess he went to hell?
Jakesoulsatstake The point is that everybody has to work and money is the result, in one form or another..So you work to 'spread the gospel' then people give you stuff...That stuff cost money that somebody had to spend to give to you. So in fact, because you have needs, others are forced to work for money to buy your stuff. Then you can sit there and condemn them for working for money. Makes a lot of sense.
What WORK do you do? Do you just sit on your hands while telling people not to work? Condemning them for working to support their families? What about where we are told in the Bible to work, so that we have money to help the poor? Or are you just living poor so others will support you. The bible says Ephesians 4:28
..... but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

I think he’s either trolling or legalistic. It’s impossible not to work for money. The Bible talks about money over a thousand times.

Oh ye of little faith.

Jesus covered your doubt in Matthew 6:25-34 and Luke 12:22-31
Do you have faith that the Creator of the Universe and all the things in it will take care of your bodily needs (food and clothing) if you spend ALL your time building His Kingdom first?

Can any see the correlation between what Jesus was saying to His disciples in Luke 12:33, the large crowds that were following Him in Luke 14:33, and what the early church was doing in Acts 2:45 and Acts 4:34-37; that is:
"All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they shared with anyone who was in need."

and:

"There were no needy ones among them, because those who owned lands or houses would sell their property, bring the proceeds from the sales, and lay them at the apostles’ feet for distribution to anyone as he had need."

Why would they do that?

I see you post from multiple forum accounts, now all closed.

Jesus was not referring to working, but idolizing money over Him.

Common sense!
