Jesus The God That Men Had Seen In The O.T.

Active
John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

John 6:46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

Scripture establishes that men have not seen God the Father at any time, but men have seen God in the Old Testament, and that God that the men have seen was Jesus Christ as the Son of God BEFORE His incarnation. Jesus verified that Moses wrote about Him.

John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. 40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life...… 46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me. 47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

By His own words, Jesus said that Abraham had seen Him.

John 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. 57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. 59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

Jesus was referencing these moments with Abraham.

Genesis 12:7And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.

Genesis 17:1And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

Genesis 18:1And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;

The last reference in Genesis 18th chapter was when the Lord promised Abraham that Sarah will have a son.

Other men have seen the Lord also. The Lord appeared to Isaac.

Genesis 26:1And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. 2 And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:

The Lord appeared to Jacob.

Genesis 32:24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. 25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. 26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. 27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. 28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. 29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. 30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

So it was Jesus as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that appeared unto Moses in that fiery bush.

Exodus 3:2 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. 3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. 4 And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. 5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. 6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.....

13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? 14 And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you. 15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. 16 Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:

The Son of God knew Moses was afraid to look upon God Himself and so it is reasonable as to why He appeared in the flaming bush as He'd appeared by the glory of the Lord in the clouds and other ways too.

So Moses had written of the Lord Jesus Christ just as Jesus has said before His incarnation as the "I am that I am" as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Our Lord who is The Angel of The Lord declared The Lord who is The Lord God. I AM That I AM is the Ancient of Days / Most High/ The Lord/Lord God; who our Lord / Angel of The Lord was declaring unto Moses. There has always been a mediator between Man and The Only True God.

If you have seen the Angel of The Lord who is the image of the invisible God ; Then you are counted as seeing the Only True God because the Angel of The Lord comes in his name/authority/character to do his will.

The Scriptures are not broken. No Man hath seen God at any time.
Nowhere verbatim in the scriptures does it say No Man hath seen God the Father at any time.

Since no man has seen God the Father at any time, but Jesus has, then Jesus is God. You keep cutting out the latter part of those verses as if it doesn't exists in order to fit your erroneous beliefs that Jesus is not God.

John 1:18No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

John 6:46Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

And Jesus is the God men had seen as the scripture declare.

You refer to the Angel of the Lord in applying that according to your erroneous belief to input doubt, but it is plain that the Lord appearing to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are the men having seen God face to face... and the scripture cannot lie.

If you are settled in your erroneous beliefs that Jesus is not God, then I leave you to Him, but I ask you to put away your pride which you have shown in exalting yourself over others as being a "smart donkey" as you seem to be lording that over others that believe contrary to your erroneous belief,

You are to prove everything by Him and abstain from all appearances of evil and so therefore God crediting the powers of God to someone that is not deity in saving any one and answering prayers is having God creating an idol and thus being sinful by His own words.

Either God does it or He did not. Either God is the Saviour or He is not. He cannot give glory of the title of Saviour to someone else that is not deity and wink wink... God gets the glory.

You might as well go back to saving yourself by the deeds of the law and wink wink... God gets the glory of being your Saviour.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

So you decide which is more important to you; your reconciled relationship with God thru Jesus Christ to abide in Him and His words.. all of them in truth.... or your patented belief at the expense of other scriptures that plainly reproves it?

God is the Saviour and yet Jesus is the Saviour and the only way those 2 truths can align is that Jesus is God.

Can you break down the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, & save he which is of God references further?

I am assuming they must be very relevant towards your Triune standpoint since you are making mention of them in bold and underlined.

But I do not deny the only Lord God among other things

Jud 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

5. What Happened to the Adoptionists?

With the formulation of the trinity by the Cappadocian Christians, who had it entrenched in the Christian doctrine that was enforced with the might of the Roman Empire, adoptionists such as the Ebionites and Gnostics were all but wiped out. Their books were burned, their churches destroyed, and those who continue to proclaim adoptionism were imprisoned, silenced, tortured and murdered. As always, such campaigns were not completely successful. From "Types of Christianity in History: Who Were the First Christians?" by Vexen Crabtree(2003):

Dan_7:19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;

Dan_7:23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

The only Lord God and yet Jesus Christ is Lord also? Scripture cannot separate between the two because Jesus is Lord & God as Thomas has said.

Not relevant. Mockers can refer to the virgin birth story as being stolen from another religion just as there are many global flood legends out there.

I have given you scripture assigning the invisible King, immortal God to Jesus Christ, and yet no acknowledgement.

1 Timothy 1:16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. 17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty........17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

Between the apostle John and Thomas, you have two witnesses treating that Jesus is God directly.

Let us take one of your favorite and yet misapplied verses;

Matthew 4:10Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Now pay close attention;

Matthew 28:9And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

So take time out and pray, okay brother? Actions does speak louder than words.

In response to your thread which the reply shall also be posted here...

1 John 4:1-4 is about testing the spirits; therefore the errant Biblical scholars attributing 1 John 4:3 as inferring the denial of Jesus had come in the flesh are missing the point of how we are to test the actual spirits.

1 John 4:2 is using the phrase "is come in the flesh" in regards to Jesus Christ is to be applied presently as in regards to the examination of our faith in Jesus Christ that He dwells in us ( 2 Corinthians 13:5 )

That is why in 1 John 4:3 those who do not confess that in according to our faith are saying that the Spirit of Christ is in the worship place or outside of us BUT that is the spirit of the antichrist that is in the world.

Confirmation that I am reading and applying His words correctly is 1 John 4:4 as in greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. That is how you test the spirits.

And the Apocrypha is not accepted scripture.

As for denying the virgin birth....

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. 15 Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
16 For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.

This prophesy of Isaiah 7:14 was fulfilled as stated in Matthew 1:22 below.

Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. 24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: 25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.

So having married her, it is for that reason, Jesus is affiliated with Joseph's side of the family, but in no way was Mary actually seeded by Joseph until after Jesus was born thus Jesus was NOT of his seed.

John 3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

You need to learn That The Lord is One Lord. Those that are joined to the Lord are one spirit however The Lord is still One Lord above all. Not One Lord in three above all.

One Lord is One Lord
One Lord is One Authority
One Lord is One Will
Only The Will of One Lord be done.
Those that do not agree in One with The Lord will be cast out. No Exception.
A kingdom divided cannot stand.

The Lord over your children is their mother
The Lord over them is you
The Lord over them and you is our Lord
The Lord over our Lord is The Lord.

Ain't no deity outside of The Lord God who Our Lord the Angel of The Lord; The Word of The Lord; The Messenger of The Lord declared.

Pay attention to the First Commandment.

Mark 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

Mark 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Since it is only the Father's will that be done, there is no division in regards to the Son nor the Holy Spirit.

You are citing assumptions not supported by the whole of scripture; just because there are verses testifying to God the Father, that does not deny the deity of Jesus Christ nor the Person of the Holy Spirit in serving as a separate Witness within that One God.

Pay attention to the First Commandment.

I am leaving your scripture reference out of the quote so you and others can read it better.

The problem here is... you are ignoring the new set of ten commandments that believers are to abide by in the New Covenant.

1 John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

So the first commandment now is what? That we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and that first commandment in 1 John 3:23 is the same as the first in Matthew 12:30 under the Old Covenant because Jesus is God.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The problem here is that you are not hearing the conclusion of the "whole matter" when you omit verses that reproves you for denying the deity of Jesus Christ. The Son of God is God by why we are saved by JESUS CHRIST for He is God.

1. It seems you are still over looking the fact that The Lord our God is one Lord.

2. One Lord as in One authority, One Will, etc.

3. Since only the Will of The Father is done ;The Father is the only true God.

Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Joh 1:34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

Col 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

Rev 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

1Ti 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Rev 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

Amen.

It is God Who judges, correct?

Romans 3:6 God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?

And yet the Father judges no man;

John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

So how can God that judge the world, judge, if the Father is not the One doing the judging? Shall we use that verse to deny the deity of the Father? No, because there are verses that cites the Father as God. The same goes for Jesus Christ.
