Was Jesus concerned primarily with the stability of families, or was he more concerned with the brotherhood of man?
This is something he said about his roll in the family
Matthew 10:34-36
34"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35For I have come to turn "'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law- 36a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'
It doesn't sound like that he was concerned about his spirit breaking up the family unit.
He also said this about his own mother and brothers
Matthew 12:46-50
46While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47Someone told him, "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you." 48He replied to him, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" 49Pointing to his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers. 50For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."
He seems to think that those who do Gods will are a true family, so he doesn't seem to care about the importance that people put on family.
