Blood of Jesus?

lets go back to the original discussion, is there scriptural reference for "pleading the blood".

Regarding providing scriptural reference, when two Christian talk/converse/share, they should not have
to provide a scripture reference for each sentence they say.

When I speak, I try to make sure in my mind and spirit that what I am saying is scriptural.
Lets keep in mind that there are many many opinions regarding what scripture might be
saying on a particual subject. And of course, I can be right or wrong on any particular point.

Ok Cudabob here is precedent...What the church likes to call a type of 'pleading the blood' Ready?

The New Covenant is sealed with the blood of Jesus...The contract is ratified in modern terms...But God gave a type of claiming that blood covenant almost four thousand years ago in Egypt...The first passover, which by the way was celebrated yesterday, Look at it.
Exodus 12:6-13 (CJB)
6 “‘You are to keep it until the fourteenth day of the month, and then the entire assembly of the community of Isra’el will slaughter it at dusk. 7 They are to take some of the blood and smear it on the two sides and top of the door-frame at the entrance of the house in which they eat it. 8 That night, they are to eat the meat, roasted in the fire; they are to eat it with matzah and maror. 9 Don’t eat it raw or boiled, but roasted in the fire, with its head, the lower parts of its legs and its inner organs. 10 Let nothing of it remain till morning; if any of it does remain, burn it up completely.

11 “‘Here is how you are to eat it: with your belt fastened, your shoes on your feet and your staff in your hand; and you are to eat it hurriedly. It is Adonai’s Pesach [Passover]. 12 For that night, I will pass through the land of Egypt and kill all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both men and animals; and I will execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt; I am Adonai. 13 The blood will serve you as a sign marking the houses where you are; when I see the blood, I will pass over a]">[a] you — when I strike the land of Egypt, the death blow will not strike you.

Way back then God gave the Blood of the Lamb to be a surety of protection for His people. There they are claiming Gods promise, sealed in the blood of Jesus.

Since what we are discussing here, Cudabob, is the Word, we should be able to share what Word we are talking about...The Word is not given in generalities but specifics...So should our words be.

Then all preachers would do is quote scripture from the pulpit.

We don't just need the Bible. God says he has given the church teachers to
build up the body of believers.

OK, but that was 4 thousand years ago. We are no longer under the law, nor are we Jewish. Jesus fulfilled the law. New Testament Christians don't plead the blood.

Would that be a bad thing? Most preachers use little to no scripture... Just like they don't really know that God says about anything. So...Would it be a bad thing?
Cudabob you don't know me...I'm a word weaver..I speak direct and blunt. Never to offend but still of the mind that if a person has a problem with the way I speak, it's their problem not mine....Its for them to deal with. entiendes? That being the case i will apologize here and probably never again for offending...If I offend

I prefer to speak to my Christian brothers and sisters, about spiritual things, in normal English. We will occasionally reference a Bible verse, but
not all the time, since we know Jesus, and have the Spirit of Jesus, we can carry on a normal conversation and usually completely understand each other.

It would be very bad, one boring sermon! Preachers have to make scripture applicable to todays hearers.

Um....Yeah.
1 Faith comes by hearing and hearing and hearing the Word of God....
2 There are only three main voices one will hear...You will hear your voice, God's voice, and Satan's voice
Not necessarily in that order. But its vital that you learn whom each voice belongs to... All three can quote scripture but all three for differing reasons....Gods voice is most important...Then yours and Satans voice not at all but you cannot ignore it if you don't realize that its him.....
3 Here is the cool part. Faith cometh by hearing...Yours is the first voice your spirit will believe...So you read Gods voice (His Word) Speak it out loud. It goes into your ears (hearing) and takes root then comes out your mouth. Into your ears and out your mouth.. Keep reading out your mouth and into your ears and all the while fait comes and grows...Then you need that faith and guess what? You have strong faith.

The preacher, just spitting out words to see how they splatter does not build your faith.. All he is doing is tickling the ears latched onto empty heads and starving spirits.

Frankly I have no use for that kind of preaching, nor to I appreciate that kind of preacher.

We ARE under the law.
Matthew 22:36-40 (KJV)
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

The entire law is fulfilled if you will meet these two laws....New Covenant.

The first Passover was not part of the law...It was God protecting His people....But we are Jews by adoption. Really Cudabob...You and your preacher need more time in the Word. If you spent more time in the Word you would know these things

Cudabob Why don't you build your house now....Before the hurricane

Jesus said his followers will not listen to the voice of a stranger.

Jesus said his followers will not listen to the voice of a stranger.

And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. John 10:5

Yup That's why its vital to recognize the voice that is talking to you...Is it your voice? Is it God's voice? Is it your friends voice speaking Satans words? You have to know

You are saying New Testament Christians are under the law??

You are saying New Testament Christians are under the law??
I think I already said that. All of the law, well not the rabinical law, just the law laid down by God, is encompassed by these two laws...And we are bound to keep these two laws...Keep them and you keep all of the law..Gods law

You are saying New Testament Christians are under the law??

It depends on what you call the law. Confession to priests, animal sacrifices, circumcision, stoning, etc... No.
Moral law... yes.

Matt 5:19; Matt 19:17; John 14:15; John 14:21; John 15:10; 1 Cor 7:19; 1 Jn 2:3-4; 1 Jn 3:24; 1 Jn 5:2-3; Rev 12:17; Rev 14:12; etc...

Repentance is required for salvation.

Luke 13:3; Luke 13:5; Luke 24:47; Acts 2:38; Acts 3:19; Acts 8:22; 2 Pet 3:9; Rev 2:5; etc...

The type of resurrection you receive depends on not only what you believe, but how you live.

John 5:28-19; Acts 24:25; Matt 19:17; 1 Cor 7:19; Rom 2:5-6; etc...

I agree B-A-C I did mention it does not include Rabinical law....We are not bound by that...Rabinical law is simply defined (in my mind) as the laws laid down by power hungry men. But God's law...I believe thats the penatuch is what we keep by keeping the two laws given by Jesus in Matthew

@Cudabob

Again....Here at Talk Jesus please use scripture to back up what you are saying.
A point of scripture may then be open for discussion

Stop arguing

I think if a person knows the Word, they do not always have to provide scripture.
ie Jesus is Lord, wages of sin is death, God is love, Christ rose from the dead, etc,
do not need scripture reference when Christians are conversing.

PS, regarding the Law, from gotquestions:Question: "Do Christians have to obey the Old Testament law?"

Answer:
The key to understanding the relationship between the Christian and the Law is knowing that the Old Testament law was given to the nation of Israel, not to Christians. Some of the laws were to reveal to the Israelites how to obey and please God (the Ten Commandments, for example). Some of the laws were to show the Israelites how to worship God and atone for sin (the sacrificial system). Some of the laws were intended to make the Israelites distinct from other nations (the food and clothing rules). None of the Old Testament law is binding on Christians today. When Jesus died on the cross, He put an end to the Old Testament law (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23–25; Ephesians 2:15).

In place of the Old Testament law, Christians are under the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2), which is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…and to love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37-39). If we obey those two commands, we will be fulfilling all that Christ requires of us: “All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:40). Now, this does not mean the Old Testament law is irrelevant today. Many of the commands in the Old Testament law fall into the categories of “loving God” and “loving your neighbor.” The Old Testament law can be a good guidepost for knowing how to love God and knowing what goes into loving your neighbor. At the same time, to say that the Old Testament law applies to Christians today is incorrect. The Old Testament law is a unit (James 2:10). Either all of it applies, or none of it applies. If Christ fulfilled some of it, such as the sacrificial system, He fulfilled all of it.

We have to allow for disagreement without personal attacks. I can't say "obviously you do not have the Holy Spirit, if you disagree with me" If we never disagreed, we would not have thousands of denominations.
