What you won't hear from the Health and Wealth Preachers

Dear Brother Bendito,

Numbers 12:13-14
Time does not preclude the use of this. I guess you could call this one "No, not yet." :)

A better way to look at this is to look for what conditions existed in scripture for healing to occur. Also, what inhibits healing from occurring?

With the Love of Christ Jesus.
The concerned Brother.

The only thing that I can see that would pervent a person being healed is this....Here's Jesus doing all sorts of cool stuff Healings, deliverances etc then he goes home and what happened?
Matthew 13:57-58King James Version (KJV)
57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. Unbelief or a lack of faith in Him and His Word (One and the same) blocks Him from doing for us.

@Bendito

Ah, brother I was waiting for that verse to come forward. :-) That coupled with every healing had a condition, be it time, faith, belief, prophecy, unity etc. that was needed to be fulfilled in order for the healing process to occur. If conditional, would just asking God be sufficient in and of itself to be healed or could it be delayed or even denied if said conditions were not met?

Of cause I won't put God into a box, because saying that he won't or always will would do so. Acknowledging that all healing also comes from God through His vessels, Peter's healing of the cripple begging for money was the perfect example that asking for healing at times is not even needed. :-) Yet, His will always be the Glory!

And a man who had been lame from his mother's womb was being carried along, whom they used to set down every day at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, in order to beg alms of those who were entering the temple. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he began asking to receive alms. 4 But Peter, along with John, fixed his gaze on him and said, "Look at us!" 5 And he began to give them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. 6 But Peter said, "I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene--walk!" 7 And seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened. 8 With a leap he stood upright and began to walk; and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. Acts 3:2-8

Apostolic powers have ceased now that the apostles are gone.

What is the spiritual gift of miracles?

The question arises as to whether or not the spiritual gift of miracles is still active today in the church. We believe that the specific gift of miracles ceased with the office of apostle. There were only twelve apostles (Revelation 21:14), and the apostolic gifts are no longer needed to verify the apostles’ message. This in no way limits God’s power or ability to work miracles as He sees fit. We absolutely believe that God still heals and works miracles today.

I can find no references in the bible that any of the gifts are gone. I have seen healing..I have seen miracles...I have seen deliverances etc....I am not one of the twelve

Dave, my friend, you must realize that Paul healed nobody. Peter healed nobody...None of the apostles healed anybody. It was the power of Jesus anointing that healed them....That anointing is in full force today.

Brother Bendito you can not show me one in the world that has the gift of healing as the apostles did. I know very well it was God who was doing the healing. But no one in the world right now can walk in the hospital and heal everyone like Peter and the Apostles could do. Yes God still does work miricles from time to time, through people, but nothing like he did with the apostles when he was establishing his church.

Well....I can introduce you to several people who used this gift of healing and saw people healed...I'm not talking about celebrity preachers here but ordinary people who want to believe the Word. Again the key word here is "Believe the Word"

absolutely healing occurs in my church as well, I never said anything different so not sure whats your point,

Is there anyone today, that as their shadow passes over them, they are healed or if they touch their clothing, they are also healed. This sort of healing is the kind I believe that Dave is speaking of.

Just because you don't see it does not mean it does not exist. Just because many are not exercising the power of the Spirit within them to pray for healing, and to believe God for healing, does not mean the power is no longer there. It could be because those who profess to know Jesus as Lord and Savior of their lives are still living much according to the flesh and not according to the Spirit, and that is why we are not seeing many healed as what is described for us in scripture. Much of today's church (modern & worldly) has kicked the Holy Spirit right out of their meetings and they are following the marketing schemes of men, instead. And, they don't even miss him, because they are too busy entertaining and being entertained.

the gifts themselves are passed away, God still heals, but nobody has the gifts that Peter had it very simple

We should never build our doctrine around circumstantial evidence, i.e. around experience. We should build our doctrine around the teachings of scripture. There is nothing in scripture which states that some of the gifts have passed away. So, as far as I am concerned, they are all alive and well. Yet, I do believe there are abuses of gifts, and that the gifts should be exercised according to scripture, and for the purposes they were intended.

I will admit here that I have not done a thorough study on the subject of divine healing, but I do trust in Jesus to be my great physician, and I have experienced divine healing in very miraculous ways, and in simple ways, as well. I don't take drugs. Nothing, unless you consider caffeine a drug, which I take occasionally in a soda or in chocolate. And, I try not to use caffeine when I have pain, so that I am not guilty of putting my trust in it for healing instead of in God. But, I have failed at times. Consistently, though, I trust God to heal me anytime I have a headache or am sick in my stomach, etc. He doesn't always immediately take it away, but he does heal me in a short period of time, and I give him all the praise and all the glory for it. Supper is calling out to me so I will finish this later...

The main reason many Christians believe the gifts are gone in because there is little to no mention of them after I think its Romans.....Then the Bible focuses mainly on how we ought to live....Which is much more important.

They are mentioned in Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12 and Ephesians 4, I believe.

Continuing on where I left off, and I am not building a doctrine around this, for I have not done an in-depth study yet on divine healing, but the life of Joni Eareckson Tada has always been an inspiration to me. What if God had healed her of her quadraplegia? She wouldn't have done what she did, most likely, and she would not have impacted thousands (maybe millions) of lives for Jesus Christ the way she did. Her songs ministered to me so many times. The Lord used the songs she sang to inspire me and to give me courage and strength to keep going in difficult times, which I had many. And, I sang them, too, as testimony to what God was doing in my own life and heart.

I have always had sinus trouble. I think they call it sinusitis. I have gunk draining down my throat on a regular basis. And, I am a singer. God never healed that, though I asked him. His answer to me was the same one he gave to Paul, and it had to do with keeping me humble, and helping me to realize that every time I sang I was totally dependent on God and not on myself for even the voice to sing, which is what it talks about in 2 Corinthians 1. And, that I would accept whatever voice he chose to give me, too, even if it cracked. And, that God had greater purposes than I realized for why he did not heal my sinusitis.

A couple of years ago someone approached me about professionally recording one of the songs God had given me to write. I immediately told him "No." I am old. My voice is old. It is cracking. Then he asked me if I had prayed about it. I had to admit I had not. Yet, as soon as I did God just poured the answer "Go" into my head in so many different ways, so we made arrangements to record the song, and began the process long-distance. Then, right before we were to travel to Nashville, TN, I got a bad cold and laryngitis and I had no voice. So, I prayed about it, and the Lord encouraged me to go and that he would make a way where there seemed to be no way. My husband was on board with this, so we went, not knowing if I would have a voice that day or not. That morning, still no voice. When it came time to record, though, all of a sudden the voice was there, maybe not the best sounding voice, but the one God wanted me to have for that particular song and for its message. And, through this I was able to give testimony to the miracle God did that morning when he took over and he provided the voice for the song. So, I believe sometimes God delays healing, at least, because he has greater purposes, like with the man who was born blind, in order that God might display his work in him when he did heal him. God wanted to display his miracle working power in my life that day for a reason, perhaps to teach me to rest in him more and more.

And, then I wonder. When it talks of gifts of healing, could there be more than one way we can be healed, like with Joni, or when God takes people home to heaven? I have known several very godly women who died from cancer. They believed God for healing. They had hundreds of people praying for their healing, but they died. Well, we are all going to die one day, so is that healing? I believe it is. But, I don't have this all worked out yet. Paul told Timothy to take wine for his stomach ailment. Why wasn't he healed? Just thinking out loud right now.

Anyway, if you want to hear the song I spoke of, here it is:

@Sue J Love
Thank-you for sharing your testimony sister.
Perspectives that are rarely touched upon when the talking of healing is discussed.
For though it is not within scripture, it is still within His will in our lives.
How difficult for a parent to say no to a child!
Not because He does not care, but that He loves us more then we realize and wants us to grow greater in Him.
Once again thank-you dear sister. Uplifting!
With the Love of Christ Jesus.
